Akida and his newfound wolf friend had a long, adventurous walk about in the Pridelands. It was the afternoon, and the pair were heading back to Pride Rock to meet back up with Kami, and the rest of the family -- regardless that Akida wanted nothing to do with them. Going back to their home was Zenkio's idea in the first place. A silent grunt escaped the young cub's maw as he rolled his eyes in disgust. He did not want to associate with his other eight siblings! There was just too many to have a one-on-one relationship with his mother, or to even learn anything, at that. His brothers and sisters were the largest distraction yet, and the most annoying, which is why he always kept to himself.
As the large rock came closer into view, Akida swallowed nervously. Zenkio smiled down at him, trying to make the cub view this in a better way. It was his job to teach Akida why it was smart to come back to his family, and a good thing to be around his siblings. Cubs always grew up, and for the most part -- immaturity would outgrow them all. Akida just had to realize that on his own.
They padded up the rocky side of the large oddly-shaped den, heading towards their home. A familiar silhouette was hidden inside the cave opening and Akida darted quickly over to greet it, hoping that it was his mother. He prayed that his siblings were off doing other things, otherwise he had to be prepared to get himself tackled down, or hurt in another fashion by eight small bodies; all the same size and weight as Akida.

((*ponders* Maybe I'll bring in Sara later, but for now just mommy. biggrin )) -A yawn slipped from the golden queen, before once again a smile formed across her maw. They were so full of energy, ate so much of her own energy, the huge mass of children that her and Ta had created. But despite the strain it put on her duties, on her energy Kami felt nothing but joy for the little ones. It was almost as if she'd gotten her wish to be a nanny. Because what other mother could claim they'd had NINE children of their own.
She wasn't exactly certain of which child approached her as the sun siloutted the tiny form. But as he drew near enough for his scent, and the familar creme to touch her senses, she purred out a soft greeting to her little twin.- "Hello Akida darling. Have you been out playing?" -Auburn tail swaying gently, she settled herself more comfortably. She didn't have anywhere to go for the moment, so she was more then happy to have her time blessed with one of her many younglings.-

Akida smiled lightly as he saw his mother come into view. He was thankful that his siblings were no where in sight, for now at least. Zenkio followed the cub up to Kamilika. Then he bowed as he paused in motion. Akida just looked to the Maned Wolf with a silly look, mother was nothing to bow about, or to him at that. Shrugging, he came up closer to his mother, and then sat down beside her.
"No, I have no time for play, mommy. Zenkio was showing me around the Pridelands, and telling me important stuff for when i'm older." His brow was raised as he eyed up the Wolf. His paws waved a little, motioning him to go away for a bit. "Thank you for the little adventure, i'll be waiting for you tomorrow, Zenkio."
He returned his view to Kami, confused. "Is what the wolf said is ... true? Am I really going to have to do all that stuff?" His ears folded back as he ducked lower, going between the lioness' front paws. He sighed lightly, clinging to his mother. "... ... i'm afraid. What if my other brothers and sisters get jealous and bully me around?" He truly did not want to even begin to deal with the issues that his siblings might start with him, for he was one that did not like to.

-Something amazing happened with the birth of her second litter. Whether it was the joy that had surrounded the pregnancy, or simply the way they'd consumed her life for those months, Kami felt no fear from her little ones. The normal shyness that plagued her words didn't sound when she was surrounded by her young ones. And she almost seemed like a normal mother. Perhaps it would change as they aged and became more intimidaing.
But they were nothing but purity and innocence right now, and she spoke more freely to them then even her mate, unworried that her words might come out wrong.-
"It depends what he'd told you. But yes.. there is a lot of work set ahead of you. But you have your sister.. and your future mates to help you. You won't be alone in your task."
-Shuffling gently to allow for his little body to press between her forelegs, she purred gently, letting the soft vibrations run over him.- "But you know.. there is alway time for play. A good leader needs to experience as much as possible in life. And there are lots of things you can only learn in play."
-She knew it for a fact, her own shyness having stunted her world views for so long, crippling her royal social skills in a way that she hoped her children would never have to deal with. Ears flicking upward at his worries a look of soft confusion touched her, and she cuddled the cub closer, tongue running across the top of his head.- "You needn't be afraid darling... They wouldn't do such a thing.. You will always have your sister to lean on. And me too."
-Worry tugging at her mind she couln't help but ask.- "They aren't picking on you now are they?"

Akida found himself cuddling closer to his mother, as she slowly lapped up the fur on top of his head. His mind was clouded with many thoughts, most involving the idea of tasks and ruling the lands around him. Thankfully mother had reminding him about the things he didn't put into place. His sister and the others who would join them later on in the adventure to becoming leaders.
"Really, will they really help me? ... It makes me feel slightly better." As he heard his mother purr, he joined her. His body was rumbling with a warm happiness. Even though he still feared his siblings, there was hope in store. The words 'future mate' flew right past his mind, as he completely ignored the logic to it.
The mention of play made his ears perk. "I should play? ... but, I thought I had to train ... and learn how to rule. No one ever mentioned playing was required ..." It was like a foreign language to him.

-She nodded simply at his question, ready to add in a few more words of comfort if the cub had seemed to need them, but instead she was met with something entirely different. And she laughed, a pleasantly amused sound the filtered into her words as she mused.- "You make playing sound like a chore."
"We won't force you to play, but certainly you'd like to have some fun wouldn't you? All work and no fun makes for very sad little cubs." -As she spoke one of her paws lifted, ruffling at his belly fur in something of a tickle as she lifted him upwards, standing herself.-
"If you'd like I'll teach you my favorite game? What I used to play when I was little."

Akida grinned and continued to look up into his mother's eyes. "Well, when I have an important job to do ..." He paused and listened closely to what his mother had to say. "... well, I suppose I could play ever now and then. Anyways, I guess having some fun would be alright." He nodded in agreement and then flailed over to his side as Kami tickled him lightly. "Heey, i'm kinda ticklish ..." He playfully stood back up and then skipped over to where his mother stood.
"That would be fun. I'd love to learn a new game!" He perked his ears back up and followed Kamilika's lead.

-Her favorite 'thing to play' as a child wasn't exactly something she could teach. But, she could use aspects of it into a game she used to play with Ta. Flicking her tail in soft amusement she watched as he readied himself to learn, trying hard to be serious as she explained.-
"I used to love to pretend I was other things. Imagine I was in different places. One game that me and your daddy used to play was kind of like that. One of us would pretend to be a zebra, and the other a big hunter lion."
-Her body moved out of habit with the words, streching to her tiptoes in a graceful motion when she said zebra, and hunching down to an almost intimidating pose with she said hunter.- "And then the lion tries his very best to catch the zebra. And if they do...."
-She trailed cryptically, though a playful little smile settled upon her maw as she leaned in to whisper.- "Then the lion gets to tickle the zebra until they can't take it anymore!"
"You want to give it a try? I'll be the zebra first if you like. You haven't seen very many of them yet, have you?"

"I'd love to learn, mom!" He excitingly shouted, as he listened to the 'rules'. So, if he caught the Zebra, he got to tickle it? It sounded like some fun! Akida nodded at his mother, smiling. "I'll be the lion!" Though, as she questioned him, he shook his head no. "I've never really seen them ... i'd love to see them, though. They sound neat, mommy."
For once in his short life, the little cub wanted to try something new ... and play. Have fun, and with the greatest lioness of all -- his mommy! It was a rather exciting moment for little Akida.
He bared his little teeth playfully, and then began chasing Kami around. He batted lightly at her legs with his soft, tiny paws.

((Did you want me to bring Sara in by the way? Or just mommy?))
-She nodded gently to his assertion.- "I'm sure you'll see them someday soon. They wander all over the savvanah."
-And with that she pranced forward a few steps. Kami was a first class pretender. And as her young one trailed after her in chase she put on quite the show, running in strides that lifted her legs up high and impractically. Tossing her head, and making strange sounds that almost resembled horse like whinneys.
She didn't let herself get too far ahead, and after a few laps around, she let herself fall forward at one of his cubby swipes, calling out with a soft laugh.- "Ohh no!"

(( You can bring in Sara if you want. :3 ~ ))
"I can't wait to see them, mommy. They sound fun to chase. You play them in that sense ..." Akida lept onto the lioness as she fell forward. "I gotcha, mommy! haha!" He playfully ran around Kami, and then after a few moments, stopped. He padded slowly to the adult lioness, and then licked her head.
"Mommy?"

-She ate up the little bit of play and pretending, laughing quite vigourously as he pounced upon her and then was off again. Watching him with a soft smile, her tail flicked contentedly. Oh how she loved played time, 'nannytime'. She actually couldn't wait to push the responsibility of ruling off onto her children.
As soft little afections touched her head, she purred loudly.- "Yes darling?"

"I just wanted to say ... thanks for showing me how fun it is to play, mommy! Now I understand it isn't just fun, but it also helps me to learn things besides whats important. It helps me to become strong, and how to predict the moves of prey. It will also help me to grow closer to my brothers and sisters who have already defined me not fun."
He purred in return as mother made the loud pur herself. "So, how about we go back and see what everyone else is up to, mommy? I hate to steal all the attention from everyone else. Its already bad enough that they think that i'm too good for them, or something." His ears folded back. "All this ruling business. I know they're jealous, but ... I really enjoy it. I'm really excited to rule someday, mommy. And while i'm not the most playful ... ruling seems like the most fun thing I could ever want to do. I'm most certianly looking forward to it."
He smiled warmly, as he stood up and looked towards home, back at Pride Rock. Flicking his tail, he began wandering off towards it slowly, though pausing and glancing back, waiting for Kami to follow.

-She listened with soft interest, not interupting the admission and flood of words, though her smile grew quite visably. She was thrilled that he seemed pleased about his upcoming task. When she was little she wanted nothing more than to run away, but somehow her children had come to flourish under the idea, and it made her happy to know she wasn't going to be casting aside some burden on them.
Lifting herself, she did not bring answer to his words about his siblings, after all she was a terrible disipliner, and she doubt he would have appreciated any words negating how he felt. So instead a soft crooning compliment slipped from her as she followed him slowly back towards the rocks.- "You are so very grown up Akida."
"You make your mother very proud."

Akida's eyes lit up with happiness at his mother's compliment. "Thank you mommy! Your very grown up, too!" He purred and waddled next to Kami as she headed over towards him. He then followed her up the rocks, slowly. He felt so happy that he made his mother feel proud! He gave a cheeky grin, as he looked up to the larger lioness.
"And i'm proud of my mommy, because shes the best mommy in the world!"
