Haha, I know... obsessed. But I wanted to write somethinglike this out... anbd procrastinate on my studying... anyways.. for series that don't focus on gay issues (at least not as a central theme) there are many characters who are or seem to be gay.

Larry-
We have no last name on him, but he was the high school's star football player. He was panicked about what people would think of him if he came out. But once he was out, things went very smoothly. His grandmother was fixing him up with guys. Unfortunately, Larry died at the battle at Graduation.

Scott Hope-
Originally, Buffy's boyfriend in the third season, he broke up with her after dating for 2 to 3 episodes. He went around spreading rumors that Buffy was gay after the breakup. We are told in season 7 that 3 years after graduating high school, Scott came out as gay.

Tara Maclay-
We're not sure how long she's been out, but we know it's been for a long time as her girlfriend informs us in Tough Love. Shy, quiet, and from a very religious family, this witch really blossomed after she met her girlfriend- the spazzy nerdy...

Willow Rosenberg-
After a rough breakup with her boyfriend Oz, Willow meets fellow witch Tara. The two of them spend time in secret, Willow has told none of her friends about Tara until shortly before she confesses that she fell in love with Tara. However, Tara eventually meets a grizzly fate... enter the new girl...

Kennedy-
Very gay right from the start. There is a moment when they are discussing weapons when a girl named Rona says "Gotta go with a stake. It's classic, plus I love the feel of wood in my hand."
To which Kennedy replies "Lost you there."
A big flirt, she goes after Willow from day one. I'm not a fan of this coupling.

Those are all the confirmed gay characters. Here are the possibly gay characters...

Andrew Wells-
A member of a band of geeks who wanna be crime lords, it's pretty clear that he has a thing for the leader, Warren. He definately overcompensates, pretending to be straight on many occasions.
JONATHAN: Guys, I'm ready. I need you to hold hands.
ANDREW: With each other?
WARREN: Well, you know what homophobia really means about you, don't you?
---Later On, after Warren has left them to be caught by the cops--
ANDREW: How could he do this to me? He promised we'd be together. He was just using me. He never really loved -- hanging out with us.

Lorne-
A Demon shunned from his home world because he was the only who could hear and understand music. He opened the second season of Angel singing "I Will Survive" and has also been seen singing "Lady Marmalade" and "Over The Rainbow". He runs a karaoke lounge in L.A. and has extremely effeminate mannerisms and ways of speaking "Most anything that can manifest in order to move in this dimension can be killed. Kinda the down side of being here. That and the so-called 'musicals' of Andrew Lloyd Webber."
...and a tendency to call Angel very bizarre names-
"Angel Cakes"
"You big corn muffin"
"Strudel"
"Crumb cake"
"Cinnamon buns"
and is very obsessed with Angel's coat. While he has been noted to comment on the hotness of many women, he has never made a pass at a woman.

My hat off to Joss Whedon, for making so many mainstream gay characters seem just like everyone else on his shows and showing that not all gay people are the same.

Haha, seeing this posted just made my night even better.

I've never liked Kennedy either. Having her paired with Willow was just bad (partly because she was replacing Tara, whom I adore, and partly just because the pairing seemed wrong). Even looking at her in general though, she has always bothered me. (But let's not get me started on my anti-Kennedy, pro-Tara ranting razz )

I never really saw Lorne as being possibly gay... I guess to me he was always just Lorne, if that makes sense. Though I guess I can see where the possibility would come in.

And I've always guessed Andrew was bi, because he seemed to have a bit of a thing for Buffy too. Definitely something with Warren too though. Also, in the 7th season, wasn't there mention of he and Jonathan sharing a bed when the two of them were off after Warren was killed, and also some weird dream flashback of a sunny field? (I could just be remembering wrong; it's been a while since I watched season 7.)

But yeah, I've always loved the way Joss incorporated it in. I loved how, unlike gay characters on many other shows, the sexuality was never really focused on as an issue. (With the exception of Willow, but even that was brief, and it just fit.) I noticed the same on Firefly, though not as much since there really weren't openly gay characters, but how it was just totally accepted that Inara could service both men and women.

Inara was amazing, a little atypical for a Whedon woman, but what she lacked in strength she made up for in cunning. "That's not incense"

Also, loved that exchange between Inara and Saffron.
Saffron: "You would lie with me?"
-alarms blare-
Inara: "I think we've lied enough"
"You're good"
"You're excellent! Who are you?"
"Malcom Reynold's Widow."

See, I don't really dislike Kennedy... mostly because the extension of BTVS (The Chosen, check my siggy) portrayed her pretty well. Not out of character but... in a way just knowing more about her makes her a more full character beyond "That chick who wanted in Willow's pants". But I do give her credit for being a dedicated slayer and I wonder if she'll show up in the Season 8 comics.

But more so... I hope Tara comes back in the comics... I'd understand if she'd had a noble death that would've been cheapened by bringing her back, but her death was senseless, pointless, and violent and... all the bad stuff happens to Tara, notice that? Abuse from her family, a temporary bout with insanity, dealing with Willow's addiction, and then just when things get good again... bullet.

Also the only real times when Willow and Tara's gayness was mentioned was when Willow first came out (because that had to be dealt with), and when it was funny.
Watcher Guy: I need to know more about your relationship...
W&T: Our relationship? We're friends... good friends... girlfriends actually... yes girlfriends... we're in love, we're lovers, lesbian gay type lovers.
Watcher: I meant your relationship with the Slayer...
Tara: Oh.. um... just good friends

And you know when Kennedy came in and started with the "When did you know you were gay" thing, I think that's what really bothered me. Because it was the first time that there was a conversation about it... and... I dunno... I felt like it didn't need to be there.

And I get what you mean by Lorne is just Lorne. I think that's the best way to describe so many of the characters that they are just them. I remember an episode of The Chosen where Dawn was trying to explain whose birthday party she was going to, and since she couldn't find a word for the relationship she just said "My Giles."

And Moocat, you really should it's like... amazing. I think most public libaries have it on DVD. I warn you, season one is a little cheesy and low budget, but it just keeps getting better.
