Finally spring was beginning to show. Not a sign of snow for the last few weeks and the air had lost a little of it chill. Green things had started to poke through the earthy forest floor and buds had begun to sprout on the end of tree branches. Helios noticed little of this, though.
The golden coated male with the scarred eye paced over the ground at a steady rate. He had decided to take a jaunt in the area surrounding the Glen pack's territory to see if there were any dissidents there who might give him a hand in his plans. He had at least reasonably planned out now what he intended to do - something more than the "take over and rule" he'd wanted to do since finding out that worhtless b*****d Zagreus had managed to get himself in charge of a pack. Helios' one eyed glare became stony as he considered that the one wolf he'd even come close to calling a 'rival' when he grew up was doing better than himself. And no doubt looking down on him, too.
Well, that would change. Helios' lips curled up into a sneer as he imagined his plans coming to fruition. Invasion, glory, finally he himself as an alpha with all bowing down to his authority. It was how he had imagined his life as soon as he was able to understand that some wolves were higher in the pecking order than others. All he had at the moment, though, was a scrawny female and an annoying she-pup and neither of them could much be counted on todo any fighting. The pup, well, young wolf was a fallback, a hostage just in case though she didn't know it. Her constant swooning was getting on Helios' nerves and he was glad he was away from her now.
Ears and eye open, he scanned the area for signs of others.

Tiberius wandered. He couldn't remember a time when he hadn't, what of his past that he could remember. Thoughts started when he was already an adult, before that wasn't there, didn't matter, was lost. Whatever it was though, the essence lying in that blackness of his unconcious was what made him now, the drive for his sadistic terrorizing.
Spring meant he could wander farther. No cold bit at his face, no driving wind forced him into hiding. He was loose on the world again. The wolf of night and day had no goal, and no real place to be. So this was how he ended up zigging and zagging through an unknown territory, lost and yet never really wanting to be found anyway. The world was his home, unless a pack border made itself known. That he would not cross, Tiberius was not stupid. He may have been bulky and stout, but he was only one wolf. Utterly mad, but still just one.
So when he came upon the border to an unknown pack's territory, he compulsively began to pace along the border. Back and forth, he couldn't help it. The invisible barrier seemed to hold his invasive desire in check, keep him from lunging into certain destruction. That was perhaps the one social structure he did adhere to, unless he was pretending to be normal. And that he could do quite convincingly, for a short time. Just long enough to get close to another wolf, allow a false sense of security to fall on his victim. It was the most dangerous part of the night and day wolf.
His mind worked at his dillema. Logic knew that even lingering here was dangerous, it was why he did not stay long at the edge of Phib's lands. Something else told him that here was less dangerous though, and still more reason was his growing desire to be his sadistic self. It had not been let loose since his encounter with the starred wolf, and that had been quite satisfactory.
That was when he saw the glint of gold not far away. Gold did not walk in the spring, only the fall. He let his eyes focus on the shape and take it in as lupine. His ears went forward and the fur on his neck went up as a natural reaction, but he did not growl. In fact he did not move at all otherwise, just stood planted, staring with his cold blue eyes at the oncoming gold.

Helios paused as he spied the multi toned, darkish male who was the very picture of wary agression. His own ears came forward, listening carefully as he pickes way, slwoly, to the other wolf. He gave off no sign of agression himself, or rather he was trying not to. Some found the big wolf with the scarred eye menacing at times though he doubted this alert male would think so.
Heliso was in a bit of a quandry. He naturally distrusted other males except those he knew he could easily cow into submission. He did not like the thought of having others around who might steal the females away from him. He needed strong males, though, and possibly some strong females - though it wasn't a trait he admired in them - to complete his mission.
That this male was right here on the borders of the Glen territory gave him some hope that he might have some grudge against them, had been shunned by them as he himself had or... some such thing which would make it easier to bring him to Helios' side. Helios, master manipulator, had a little more trouble when dealing with other males. Females seemed so much more predictable... He almost sighed inwardly at how easy it could be.
His face, though, took on a cheerful look, his tail giving a few languid, friendly sweeps as he came a little closer to this other male. Not too close, though, he didn't want to invade his space. "Hello?" he called, knowing the other had seen him - he was looking this way afterall.

Tiberius was wary. He did not like to be found, but he also did not feel he had anything to fear. The golden male carried himself so nonaggressively that even the paranoid mad wolf had to admit that lashing out would be senseless. That or he simply was not in the grips of his disorders for the moment, as no buttons had yet been pushed to set him off. He did not, however, return the gesture of friendliness other than lowering his bistled fur. It was obvious he was not the type to be cowed. Even in the face of possible destruction he tended to maintain a classic overconfident, sadistic attitude.
While he did not have anything against the Glen pack, Tiberius was generally out to cause as much suffering as he deemed necessary. He wanted, was driven by some unforseen force to drive himself and all other wolves he could to ruin, just not at the expense of his own life. That was the only fear that quelled him from taking some risks. So while Tiber may not have been malicious against those Helios wanted to destroy, he was easily swayable when prospects of killing were involved, if words were chosen carefully.
The dark and light male took a great pause to study his descoverer. The scar to the eye of the gold wolf was of particular interest to him, if only because he had to wonder at who delivered it, and why. Scarring and wounds held a particular fascination with the sadist wolf, that was what had ultimately gotten him into a scrap with that b*****d Reno not long ago, though the wound just above his own left eye was healing nicely.
At length , after several moments of this keen study, he responded simply, "I am here." This declaration was designed to speak volumes if read properly, saying not only that Tiberius was unafraid of this intruder on his musings, but that he believed that Helios was not a defender of the pack borderlands. If he were such a defender, Tiber believed that he would have gone running back into the heart of the lands to gather a few other wolves and run Night and Day off. After a few more long seconds of silence Tiberius added, "Art thou seeking something?"

It seemed a long moment that the other wolf studied him but this gave Helios time to do a little studying of his own. From closer up he could see better that this other male was no runt, indeed he looked as if he'd been through the battles himself - having a scar his eye. This reminded Helios of his own scarred eye and he bit back the urge to growl at the unfairness of that injury. In its way the injury to his eye was part of the reason why he was here doing what he was doing. Or, rather, part of the excuse. It had been caused in the power struggle of his original pack, a struggle which he blamed Zagreus for, now.
Of course, he had been happy at the time for it to occur but when he had lost his chance at power and come away injured the blond wolf, so fond of his looks, had come away looking for someone other than himself to blame. He smiled almost savagely as he thought all of this, more determined than ever to bring hell down upon the Glen Pack - to let his dark counterpart Zagreus know the anguish he had suffered. In all honesty Helios had caused all of the problems he laboured under but Helios was never fully honest and especially not to himself when it concerned his image.
His attention came back to the present as the dark male spoke. Hmm. Hw to go about this? He didn't like rushing right into things but this was a perfect opening, despite the odd proclamation. He didn't think the wolf in front of him looked the type to be bothered by endless words and might be more impressed by a shorter and more direct approach. Adjusting his mental mindset accordingly, he allowed his grin to become a little more edged, his posture a little more upright.
"I am, in fact, seeking something." he replied, his good eye looking directly at the others. "I am looking for soldiers, for those who will help me in a battle. The battle for this land here." his head moved, eyes ranging over the territorial border where the multi-coloured male had been pacing. "The pack which hold this land caused the downfall of the one which was mine by right and I mean to have my revenge."
His words had been intended to reach many points. Either sympathy of bloodlust might bring another to his side and he hoped this brief introduction might snare him this male wolf's interest.

The interest on Tiberius' face flared. A vengeful brute, yes, much like himself. This was becoming an intriguing chance encounter indeed. Internally he beat back his demons, they would be of little use to him in a diplomatic sense. Right now he absolutely must appear mostly sane. Still, the utter essence of desire shone through him, as though for a moment the sensations of battle were washing over him, the blood and the heat, the snarls and the blinding ferocity. The whole thing was a dance really, battle. One which the star-faced male had grown rather good at being a part of in accordance with his madness. The golden male had even pointed right to his sadistic pleasure of fierceness and called it out. Helios might have more in common with himself than originally thought, if the savagery of that gold smile said anything. Tiber could almost feel Helios' desire to see the blood of his enemies flying, another thought the star-faced wolf took delight in.
And a warrior, a soldier, that was something Tiberius could provide readily. In a forced motion Night and Day sat back on his haunches, looking thoughtful in a fierce way, lips curled back in almost a silent snarl while he brought his mind back to the situation right at hand. Being invited in! Such an unusual occurance. He must not lose hold of it at any cost. Slowly, in minute increments, his features returned to stoic and cold. Chilling blue eyes already told that he was going to agree, even before his maw opened to speak the words.
"I will aid you, vengeful one. Call for Tiberius when you need him." His lips curled back in a wry grin, almost playfully sadistic in nature, before Tiber caught himself and blanked it from his features. Granted, this whole self-exchange going on within him may have appeared odd, but he did not give off the essence of a loosed killer, thankfully. So the statement had gotten its desired response, a strong willing aide to an unnoble cause. Not that Tiberius would ever care. He had, sofar as he could remember, never been noble. Even his thoughts of the past contained blood and flying fur, and screaming yelps. Sounds, no vision.
"And," he began again, "to whom am I answering?" Normally the bicolored wolf wouldn't have cared who was offering him this chance, but it only seemed appropriate for an exchange of names. As far as Tiberius was concerned, this help was being offered freely, but he would have to know who to ask for if he ever needed a return on the favor.

Helios' lips twitched in amusement, happy that the dark male seemed willing, indeed eager, to join in. He hadn't even asked for anything.. yet. Helios wasn't sure what he could or would offer yet besides glory. He was very much set on having the top spot to himself and didn't much like the idea of those like his aunts and uncles who had come second in command so he could offer no beta position. Those types seemed like they might be prone to turning on him. No, Helios wanted to have total control. This male might not even be bothered with pack life. He was here alone afterall so there might be no reward in such an offer even if he could make it.
He also wanted the ladies. They were, afterall, his man passion in life. Much like a wine conneseur he had certain tastes but was always open to something new. He sampled here and there, not often over-indulging in just one. It made him a rather happy wolf indeed to poseess the charm and looks to be able to get away with such a lifestyle. To him, of course, it was a lifestyle he should naturally have - it didn't occur that he had been particularly lucky up until now and that Erin, his industrious cousin, had gotten them out of more than a few scrapes.
"Vengeful one?" Helios somewhat liked the sound of that title. He was vengeful afterall, even if for the most part it was an act. He wanted vengance for any time Zagreus had seemed to be better than himself, for every percieved injustice. "Yes... I rather like that. I am Helios." he smiled, a sort of understanding seeming to pass between the two. Helios did not understand obligation very well - all wolves should be out to help him afterall - but he felt he had a willing accomplice now and that would make things so much easier.
