do petitions really work? ive seen people create a lot of petitions. even in gaia, and yet there arent any results. are petitions a way to help, or are they a waste of time?

Honestly, I don't really know, but I don't think they do...

lol, then wats the point of people creating all these petitions, if all their effort is to go to waste. i signed a petition awhile ago. had over 5000 signatures. still havent seen any results. its kinda sad. the person worked quite hard on the petition

I think it's more hope than anything, like "this one will make it, I know it will." So I can't really blame em =P

Maybe it just really depends on what the petition is for.

If it's got something to do with changing aspects of the Gaian community altogther, or in general, then even if there are thousands of signatures on it, there may be nothing that the mods are able to do about it. Especially if it's in compliance to a request that would take far too much time and effort and perhaps COST to do.

On the other hand, some petitions DO work- and I suppose if the petitioner were to read through FAQ and rules and such before starting one that wouldn't be impossible for mods to comply with, then the hard work could actually pay off- especially if there are several thousand signatures.

Nevertheless- it may take far more than 5,000 sigs on a petition to change the minds of mods for a community of 50+ thousand users. 5 thou is a rather small fraction in comparison.

well a petetion is alot like a protest. They just do it to let people know they want something to happen, but they sort of know it will never work
