Although Sungura had promised he wouldn't run off without letting Cheshi know, that didn't stop the dark colored hare from darting away from his friend while shouting "Come get me!". Grown or not, the young male was still immature in much that he did.

While running from Cheshi and glancing behind him once or twice, Sungura let out a light laugh. As he adjusted his gaze to look back in front of him, he caught site of a hungry looking serval. Skidding to a halt, the male let out a high pitched shreik and then aimed to run back to Cheshi.

Cheshi was doing her best to try to be more brave now that she had Sunny around again. She'd been reassured, and had reassured herself, that nothing bad would happen while Sunny was around. Everything seemed a little less scary with him, though part of that might have been because it was not so quiet.

However, when Sunny tried to start games like this, she was rather hesitant. Determined, however, not to lose him she took a deep breath and did dart after him. Everything seemed to be going fine, too, until she heard an unfamiliar-yet-familiar sound in the form of a shriek, causing her to skid to a halt.

What was going on? What happened?!

Jin had narrowed his eyes on the small, dark colored hare before him. From what he could tell, the rabbit had not been paying mind to where he was going. It would be Jin's perfect opportunity to catch the creature and devour it for his first meal in quite some time. He adored his new territory that he had chosen, but it appeared as though there was not much to satisfy his hunger.

As the serval had been contemplating his first action, he noticed that the rabbit turned away and began to run off nearly as quickly as it had appeared before him. With wide eyes, he began to run after Sungura. The serval growled and hissed as he lunged forward, eager to catch the escaping hare.

Sungura knew that in the back of his mind it was his own fault for acting so foolish again. He hadn't quite run off from Cheshi, though he was beginning to do so and even only beginning seemed to get him into a great deal of trouble again. Nearly petrified in the given situation, the hare used the strength from his back feet to push off the ground as roughly as possible.

It was not long before the small rabbit made his way back to Cheshi. His eyes and expression showed such a great fear, that he felt no words were needed to be said. Grabbing ahold of Cheshi's paw, he tried to pull her forward as though to urge her that it was the time to go. He only hoped that with this head start, the two of them could find some type of shelter to hide in.

Cheshi was petrified as she waited from some sign from Sungura, and it came very shortly in the sound of his rushed paw-steps, followed by an unfamiliar set. She trembled slightly, and as soon as she saw Sunny she could easily guess what was going on.

In a somewhat delayed reaction, she left Sunny tugging at her paw for a couple seconds of a stunned pause before kicking back into action. She didn't have any time to think about it, and pulled her paw from Sunny to follow him wherever he went.

How quickly their pace had gone from playful to serious.

Sungura was nervous to feel that Cheshi had tugged her paw away. He had run from his fair share of predators in the past, but was unsure about Cheshi. How many times had her life been on the line? He was impressed that the timid young female had been able to pick up a steady pace, but how long could she last?

Remaining only a bit ahead of her, the male's pace was slightly awkward in order to glance back every moment or so to see how the pale colored female was doing. His breathing was coming out rugged and it seemed as though there was nowhere to hide. Now, with his body heated and his heart bounding dramatically against his chest, the young male tried his best to find some type of shelter.

The serval seemed to be nearing!

Jin was not the most graceful of predators and this was clear by his awkward gallop after the two hares. He was surprised to see another hare pop out of what seemed to be nowhere. Hissing more as he came across Cheshi, Jin continued to keep a steady pace after the two. Pushing his hind feet off the ground more roughly, the male hoped he could close the space between them.

He seemed to be nearing them, if only a bit more. Inch by inch, the large cat aimed to get himself within reach of the tasty morsels. When it seemed they were only a bite away, the large cat lunged forward. He did not pay any mind to his surroundings, but focused his eyes on the two hares. He had a glint of hunger within his expression and was bent on eating that afternoon.

What Jin failed to notice, however, was that the foliage was growing thicker and there appeared to be some newly growing acacia trees nearby. The perfect height for an unsuspecting serval to get pricked on.

Cheshi had spent her life running from, well, life. She was fighting the urge to try changing her path suddenly, knowing that she and Sunny had a greater ability to turn sharply than most predators would- but she trusted the black hare and followed him as quickly as he would allow for. He would certainly hear it if she was caught.

With Sungura constantly looking back to check on her, she couldn't help but look back herself. Cheshi did not even know what was chasing them until she did, and the more Sunny looked back, the more she did and the more panicked she became. It wasn't long before she stopped just following Sunny and aimed mainly for an escape, but the loss of focus on her companion and her surroundings coupled with the panic caused her to lose her footing and tumble to the ground with a yelp.

Almost as soon as she hit the ground, she scrambled back to her feet- but it was surely enough to let the serval catch up, she thought in a continued panic.

Sungura had continued along his path, swerving around small rocks and trying desperately to search for something to hide within. It would due if he could not avoid the serval, so long as both he and Cheshi had a small burrow, cave or bush to hide within. Something small. The two rabbits had an advantage on the large, awkward serval.

Deep in panicked thought, the hare almost forgot to glance back at Cheshi. The moment he had, however, he noticed her stumble upon her feet and his eyes widened even further. "Cheshi!" He gasped out, turning back in order to help her. It was the wrong move to make and quickly the serval would be upon them. Glancing up to see their demise, the hare noticed that the two had managed to secure themselved within the growth of an acacia tree. Had it been an adult, it's height could have easily allowed entrance, but because it was just a new plant, it offered enough shelter for the two hares and spikey protection at any opening.

Holding onto Cheshi now to try and calm her and keep her from running, the rabbit's heart began to race. What would they do now? With a burrow, the two could continue to dig. With this plant, all they could do was wait it out.

Cheshi didn't even notice where they were, and was about to try bolting again when Sungura got a hold of her. She whimpered as she went from wanting to run to keeping quiet and still in the safety of the brush. This was not an uncommon scenario for the hare, though she never seemed to get used to it. She clung fearfully to Sungura, hoping he had some solution to their problem.

"What if it doesn't go away?" she whispered shakily. This was when it was lucky they were vegetarians, really. It just didn't seem like Sunny would like waiting until it was absolutely certain that it was safe, as she normally would.

To Cheshi's dismay, Sungura had absolutely no idea what to do in that situation. He wished so desperately that he could just blink and cause the serval to leave the two of them alone, but it didn't appear as though that was going to happen anytime soon. Holding onto Cheshi and breathing out roughly, he thought deeply on what he might be able to do. The ground shook between the two hares as the serval landed in the shrubery around them.

Adjusting his spot beneath the plant to get a better look at the large cat, the hare found himself giggling lightly. As the two rabbits had been shaking in fear, the cat had lodged himself into a large spiney plant. Looking back towards Cheshi, he whispered, "Lets head off now. He seems to be busy for a bit. First large bush or burrow we see, we're getting into!"

Jin had not seen what type of plant the two hares had hidden themselves in and as he lunged in order to eat them, he found himself jumping headfirst into a prickley, young acacia tree. Both embarassed and wounded, the serval hissed and sent his fur on end. Shaking his snout, the cat jumped back and swatted at himself. A few of the spines of the tree had lodged themselves within his nose and he was thinking of everything but the two hares at the moment.

Distraught in his current position, Jin also failed to notice the two hares talking amongst themselves. Although Sungura was planning for the serval to be busy for a great amount of time, the large cat was loosening the bristle's and beginning to regain his comfort. As one spine fell out and he began to lick at his paws to try and clean his face to remove the others, he was preoccupied.

Cheshi continued to cling to Sungura, sniffling occasionally while he thought up a plan that would suit him. She watched the serval very carefully, wincing a bit as she noticed how the prickly plant had gotten him- she might feel bad if hadn't tried to eat her, but she would not tempt fate by feeling glad it had got him.

Finally, Sunny told her their plan and she nodded in response to it. She hoped they would find a burrow, for it certainly be one of the safer places for the pair of hares. Unless they found one that was already occupied..

Sungura accepted Cheshi's nod to his plan and ran out from under the prickly plant that the two had found safety within. He would take a chance to glance back after he looked over the area. He understood now that it would be risky to continually glance back towards his companion, though he wanted, so desperately, to ensure her safety. The rabbit had done an awful job keeping Cheshi safe and he was beginning to feel the guilt of his actions. Once the two had found safety, he would need to make it up to her.

Now, having looked around him, the male glanced back towards Cheshi. He hoped she would be following and it appeared that way from what he could tell. The two had sent a great deal of dirt from the ground, which was useful considering it would also weaken the serval's eyesight. Calling out towards Cheshi, Sungura hoped she would be able to see him and follow his voice, "Cheshi! I'm right in front of you! Keep running! I think I see something ahead!"

Cheshi hesitated in emerging from the brush as Sungura went out to check the surrounding area for a suitable escape route. With an anxious look back towards the struggling serval, Cheshi finally hopped out from the bush. The air was dusty, and it made it harder to see Sungura- he wasn't nearly as brightly colored as the albino hare was, and he would blend into the dimness much better. While he wouldn't be so easy to spot, she would be. It was something she'd always had to deal with.

Fortunately, Sunny called out for her. She whimpered and hesitently hopped forward, towards the sound. It didn't take her more than two steps to simply pick up the pace, it would be unwise to take long in fleeing when your predator was just behind you. Tangled or not.
