Deep in the mountains on the north end of Balamb Island there are many networks of caves and paths that make a perfect retreat point for the survivors from the attack on Balamb Garden.

Currently the base of the Rebel Faction, the SeeD are being led by Hiro Yuki, in their plans to make a counterstrike on the Galbadian Army now stationed within their Garden.

SeeD are posted at every potential lookout point of the Mountain Ranges, and anyone spotted approaching is likely to be shot on site. The SeeD's primary 'hideout' is deep inside a cavern set into the mountainside.

Taking in blurry shadows and dull colors, Delan had to blink a few times to figure out where she was. Scanning a focusing, rocky vision, she remembered now that she had gotten back to one of the caves that had been populated by the Balamb Garden refugees. Pushing her elbows into the cot she had been sleeping on, the jet-haired teenager glanced around. People were still hurrying around, still tending to the wounded from the battle in town.

Wonder how long I slept... she thought, sitting up all the way and bending her legs up. A shocking ache jabbed at her left leg, and she gritted her teeth a bit as she looked to her bandaged thigh. It really didn''t hurt that much now, but boy how she recalled the pain that bloody bullet had given her. Face angering, Delan shut her eyes to glare elsewhere, at the ground. That Curtis... What a ******** idiot...

Hanging her legs off the long side of the plain bed, the would-be SeeD gripped the edge of the thin mattress and waited a moment to feel how she was. Other than her injured thigh, she felt normal, or as normal as she usually was. Their victory was what made her happy, but she knew by the looks of things there were many casualties. That made her feel like she hadn''t done anything to stop that, either. All she''d done, was knock out or kill one Galbadian, fight a psychotic one, and then sat back to watch the gore get spread out. She hadn''t done s**t to help.

Folding her forearms down across her knees, Delan continued to stare at the cave''s flooring. If it would do any good, that was the reason why she wasn''t cut out to be a SeeD. She''d been right in turning down their offer, and no longer held second-thoughts about it. For at least a day, she predicted, she''d feel down and worthless. But by the next time she woke up, she''d be figuring out how to improve herself while this war raged on.

Edora had been taken by a handful of SeeDs to the caves, since she technically wasn't a SeeD and they thought she should stay out of combat. Bored as usual, the young Krammer wanders the caverns, looking for anyone to talk to. She sees a few faces, but cannot place a single one.

He'd been passed out for the past few days. Somewhere inside the back of his head, he hoped, no, prayed that she had made it out with the rest of them. When he awoke, his ribs were bandaged, and he was nude from the waist up otherwise. Eyes were narrowed in, not concentration, but sleep, or a nightmare, to be more precise. His nightly dreams were haunting him again, his mind not quiet without her there to keep him thus.

"Bastards... get away from her... ", the sound of his voice was quiet, vengeful. He almost didn't sound like himself. The gutteral growl in his throat a warning, as he tossed there upon the bed. Sweat matted damp blonde hair to his forehead, and hands gripped at the sheets beneath him.

"How long has he been like this?", the sound came from one of the male SeeD, who had come to check on him. He'd taken a great strain during the fight, and a few of them were concerned with the man who'd been appointed leader in the absence of the Lion.

"A few days now. Three maybe? He slips in and out of sleep. Keeps babbling about soldiers and outposts. Its all been about some 'her' in the last twenty-four hours though. I think there's a lot more to this guy than Headmaster Cid lets on. But he trusts him, so that's good enough for me I guess.", the girl sighed quietly, and the feeling of a hand, was what actually awoke him. Soft, warm, dabbing at his forehead with a damp cloth.

Blue eyes lazily fluttered open, and he stared around, trying to gain orientation. His throat was dry, his lips were cracked slightly, and he felt like hell. This was why he never used his more magical capabilities. They always left him so drained. After a while, his eyes focused on the girl above him, who immediately blushed when she realized she was being watched.

"Thanks.", voice soft, gravely from disuse, as he reached for the glass she offered out. The water was like heaven for a man dying of thirst. Tipping back the glass to drink, he lifted upwards, blonde hair stringy, falling forward across his face. In that guise, he looked every bit of his twenty plus years. And nothing at all like a SeeD. He looked like a man hardened in blood. Quietly, the young woman stood, and moved away, to leave him to tend to himself.

Staring after the girl, he turned his head back, doing a quick head count. He needed to assess the damages that little in town skirmish had caused to the Balamb forces. He had to hope, too, that the others would make it to Esthar, into the waiting arms of reinforcements. They had to take the Garden back. There was no other way.

Edora pauses outside a room when she hears her father's name. Who here knew the Headmaster? She swollows, unsure of what to make of it. She takes a deep breath and enters the room.

Not a room, so much as a makeshift lean-to area inside the cave. The woman, already gone, however there's a man, bandaged, blonde hair loose and touseled around his face, as cold blue eyes focused upwards, before softening.

"Can I help you?", you looked a wee bit lost, but obviously none of the other SeeD had haulted you, so that likely meant you were affiliated with Garden in some fashion.

Turning, the man pushed to rise upwards out of the cot he lay on, wincing mid movement. He hurt.

Edora walks in slowly, sitting beside the man so he didn't have to move.

I am with the SeeDs, in a way. I'm Edora, the Headmaster's my dad. I heard someone mention his name and was wondering if someone knew him, and what happened to the Garden. The only person I've seen so far, since I arrived, was my brother.

She runs a hand through her dark hair, revealing a face much like a once feared Sorceress.

The man's head turned, and he smiled. Such a familiar face, and yet not. It made perfect sense.

"I'm Hiro Yuki. Your Father left me in charge of the SeeD. He made his way out during the escape attempt. He can best lead from the sidelines, where he isn't in any immediate danger.", for whatever reason, the face of the Sorceress doesn't seem to actually bother him. In fact, he seems rather unphased.

Maybe he was just that jaded.

"I was left in charge until we rejoin Cid when Esthar sends reinforcements for us. You picked a bad time to come back. Galbadia invaded, took over Garden.. and have put Balamb Town under Martial Law. This isn't a nice place to live in anymore."

I noticed, I came in after all the fighting started. Dad being gone makes sence, but Matron, my mother, I haven't seen her. I saw my brother, and a glimpse of the other kids I grew up with.

Edora sighs, as if thinking of something that had happened before the war.

I haven't seen her in a long time...I was a SeeD student last I heard anything about her. I was in Esthar for the war, I left the Garden a while back. What happened to make Galbadia so war-like again? The Sorceress, I hear, is dead. What's going on?
PostPosted: Wed Aug 17, 2005 5:01 am

"Not dead. Not really.", he knew the truth. There were two of them. Rinoa, the girl who took the power of the others, and Morrina, his Sorceress. After a moment, he finally pushed himself to stand, eyes narrowing with a hiss as he ignored the pain in his side.

Yeah, there was no doubt. This man couldn't be just a SeeD. SeeD were kids trained for mercenary business. This man was different.

"As far as why Galbadia is invading, I think that the dictators there have gone mad. I can't precisely say why, but they have.", he chuckled then, reaching for his shirt where it lay on the bed. He had a kind of rugged look to him, and when shoulders rolled, so did everything else on him. Blonde hair fell down infront of his face, as the shirt was tugged down over his head, and he reached for his glasses.

"I haven't seen Edea, well, Matron, much at all. I think the last I checked she was with Cid when he made his escape."

I just hope they're safe. Someone told me that my mother lost her Sorceress power. I'd love to know how THAT happened, but now is not the time.

She stands as well, looking him up and down.

Do you know where the others are? Matron's children I mean, Squall, Quistis and the gang. I haven't seen them either. Just Seifer.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 20, 2005 12:35 am

"I'm not certain. Some of them headed out, when we made our escape through Balamb. I know that Squall is in Esthar. Quistis, and the others, I'm not so certain.", he winced briefly, before reaching for his sword where it lay. Lifting it, the blade was rested down into a loop on his belt, before he turned back.

"If I see any of them, I'll send them your way. For now, we'll have to deal with things as they are.", and then turning, with a slight limp, he walked out of the lean-to. It was his turn for watch, supposedly.

Ele'sear rested with her head against the stone wall, staring at Chris. She'd been in a relaxed, reclined repose. She was still in her own set of aches and pains from the shot she'd taken from Alexander. She almost hadn't made it all the way through.

"Awake Little Brother?"

Raising his left leg and arm in the air in an overly-dramatic flair, Chris leveraged himself into an upright position with a grunt, then stuck a finger in his left ear and shook it to eliminate an itch.

Well that was the most fun I've had in, well, never.

Edora keeps up with him.

If you're going to fight, no way you're leaveing me behind until I find Matron or the others. I got left behind once all ready, besides, you look in no condition to fight.

((really bored...))

He paused, upon seeing that he was being followed. Well crap. This just won't do.

"You're choice, but I'm actually just fine...", once he had stepped out of the lean-to, his limp was gone. Whether that was real, or fake though, was yet to be seen.

"I'm just going on basic patrol. We all take turns with this. And I told you, Matron probably made her way out of Balamb along with Headmaster Cid. I'm not leaving this mountain range. You'd have to make it all the way through Balamb to join back up with them.. and as seen by the battle in town, and the remaining soldiers there.. that's a dangerous proposition.", his eyes held no quarter for argument, or excuses of why. Whoever this man was really, he was a strange one.

-----------------

"You're so very strange. I'm glad to see that all of the fighting didn't take away your sense of humor.", the woman chuckled, giving a soft nudge back with her elbow.

"I think its your watch soon."
