The language of nerurav started out being the language of a highly evolved race of aliens who focused on conquering and science for the sake of conquering.
It quickly left that and became the language of a colony of intellectuals, akin in purpose to lojban. In every story that it's mentioned in, this colony of intellectuals is long dead and the language nerurav is restricted to academia and a few select others.
The only story I have where nerurav is anything close to being a not-dead language is in my story Mercenaries of Carraelia, wherein nerurav was resurrected by a group of weapons developers who dispersed about a hundred years before the story takes place.

The universe of "Mercenaries" is set far in the future, where humanity has extended out into space.
After decades of colonizing and experimenting, the human race is scattered across a number of planets. At some point, a type of particle known as the minskeru was discovered that reacts very strongly to certain electromagnetic signals and binds to itself very well, but doesn't react to most metals. This particle has become the basis for many technologies, such as the gates that allow for near instantaneous travel between the worlds. Experimentation has created several groups of beings other than pure humans.
A number of humans have been genetically modified, with enhanced senses or physical abilities or other such traits. A very special group of humans have been modified to be able to mentally manipulate the minskeru by emitting brainwaves of the correct frequencies. These humans became the races of mages and priests.
Another group that was created is the race of 'tronics, artificial beings made of a synthesis of "magic" and technology. They are composed of trillions of tiny metal machines called "cells" that can rearrange themselves. Through a mage-esque ability to manipulate the minskeru, the 'tronics can change shape and mimic both technology and magic spells. They also have the ability to devour both metal and minskeru and convert those into more cells. The 'tronics, sometimes hidden as humans, sometimes not, often have secret agendas, most of which are based on various schemes to gain power and stay alive.
