News Article.
I found this today when I was looking at Yahoo for something. I completely forget what I was looking for. Anyway, this thing is 33 ft long and weighs over half a ton. They believe it is a member of a relatively unknown species of squid described by sailor lore and fiction. They are planning on studying the creature. I wonder what they'll turn up with?

i remember hearing about that! some squid used to attack ships, though its much more rare for that to happen now, because they are aggressive hunters. they will also try to drag down a scuba diver to drown him and eat him, though ive only heard that. but still, hardly ever happens because of the depths they live at.
and baby gaint squid (im assuming its the same for these guys) live at the surface and decend as they get older.

The squid is possible. There was some giant, prehistoric, washing machine sized jelly fish found off the coast of Tokyo that were thought to have been exstinct.

Plenty of weird creatures out there, and plenty of inexplicably weird behavior, too. smile
If those apes turn out to be a new species...well, there you go yet another example of macrofauna we haven't classified before.
