Anlach was in full swing, and there were many a stag that had staked out mini-territories in which to herd their band of hinds. Brychan was no different, having put himself and his harem near a cluster of young oaks. The two hinds, Loreena and Talyn, were not far away as Brychan quietly grazed.
The starry pelted stag was on full alert, however, ears turning this way and that as he nibbled at the tender spring shoots. Occassionally he would lift his head if he thought he heard something approach.
In one instance, a young buck in his third year had boldly approached the hinds that Brychan had been guarding. Only to be chased away by the bellowing and charging Brychan.

The smallish young gray hind known as Telyn---or Talyn, since she tended to switch between the two names often--- was nervous. This wasn’t merely because of Anlach, although that certainly had something to do with it. It was also because of Loreena. She had yet to meet the other hind that was in Brychan’s harem. From what she had heard of the red hind, Loreena was quiet, well-mannered, and sweet. In many ways, this was the complete opposite from the impulsive and rambunctious Telyn. What if they really were too different to get along?
On the bright side, she had won the race against Brychan. That certainly helped make her feel better. She was briefly distracted from her worries by the approach of a third-year stag. The real entertainment was in Brychan’s reaction, as the starry-pelted stag bolted after the young buck, chasing him away. Telyn flicked her ears slightly and smirked before returning to her grazing.
Or, more specifically, pretending to graze.

It had been a surprise to see Brychan return to the place he had left her to graze accompanied by another Hind. though a welcoming surprise, being alone was not really something Loreena was accustom to, usually always having another Hind or young Fawn close by. holding back a giddy excitement she felt raising in her chest at the sight of this new Hind, she just smiled softly, realizing she had nothing intelligent to say, and lowered her head to the grass until she could come up with something. trying to keep her composure as to not embarrass Brychan her head was still spinning about the events of Anlach.
from what Loreena had seen of the Hinds entrance, she had a bold stride, and bright eyes, and her pelt was very exotic and refreshing to any's gaze, a fine Hind for Brychan.
Inching her way closer and closer to the other Hind as she grazed, thinking she finally had something suitable to talk about. but just as she turned her head up from grazing, mouth opening slightly, only to be cut off by a bellow from Brychan. Ears Fanned forward, she watched him chase off a stag, that she had been completely unaware of, flattening her ears slightly embarrassed by her moment of ignorance. she watched Brychan for a moment, then looked back at the other Hind, mouth slightly opening, but the words were lost by the surprise.

Once he had been satisfied that the stag wouldn't be returning any time soon, Brychan turned and ascended the hill once more. The stag snorting and shaking his head and maned neck in indignance. Such foolish young males, coming in to challenge him. He would not be outwitted quiet so easily!
Coming to stop in his little sunny spot to keep guard, Brychan's blue gaze turned towards the two females that stood nearby. A warm smile coming to his muzzle as he watched them momentarily, amused at Loreena's surprise and Telyn's indifference. Those two were quite different indeed, like night and day. He didn't doubt that they would get along, though.
Flicking his tail, the stag also lowered his head to graze once more.

So… this was Brychan’s other hind, eh? Telyn made no secret of her appraisal of the other hind, looking her up and down. As far as she was concerned, there was simply no reason to make her curiosity about the other hind secret. Loreena was sort of mysterious, if only because she tended to keep to herself so much. Then again, Telyn had the same habit, but the gray hind had a feeling they kept to themselves for different reasons. Telyn kept to herself because other hinds bored her quickly. Loreena, as she understood, was simply shy.
Not that there was anything particularly wrong with that, of course. Maybe Telyn could even help coax Loreena out of her shell a little. Or, if not, at least the gray hind would have something to entertain herself. Boldly making her way over to Loreena, she came up with the most elegant introduction yet:
“So… you must be Loreena. I’m Telyn.”
Alright, so as far as introductions went, maybe it could have been just a bit more elegant or sophisticated, but it got the job done.

The newest hind....well, this was certainly a new position.
She rounded the hill with a confident stride, coming up over its top just in time to see Brychan threaten another, much younger male into fleeing. The other two herla, who had been grazing, each reacted in their own special way. One looked rather surprised, the other seemed a bit more humorous about the small affair. Rhomae smiled in amusement. Well, at least they were not so similar that she would have a problem telling them apart. She liked variety, especially in the females that she would soon be spending a great deal of time with.
The light-grey (arguably white) pelted hind with the black fur that ran all the way down her back, from her ears to her tail, gave her greetings to Brychan before quietly walking over to where the other two stood. She held herself proudly, but not arrogantly, with an ever-kind look in those light-blue eyes.
"My apologies for intruding on a conversation." she said, dipping her head a little. Of course, perhaps there was no conversation to be intruded on...but she wasn't sure. Better safe than offensive. "But I would like to extend greetings. My name is Rhomae."

Telyn stopped in her words as another hind approached. For a moment, Telyn’s blue eyes were simply surprised; it was a good look for her, and an odd one as well since she wasn’t that surprised very often. She looked the other hind up and down, not bothering to hide her curiosity about this newcomer. Where had she come from anyway? Most of the hinds were already in harems, which had been moved off by the stags. Why was she in Brychan’s harem spot?
Slowly, the pieces came together in the gray hind’s mind and she whipped around to glare mildly at Brychan. It wasn’t a full force glare. It was merely the sort of glare that said, ‘what have you done now’. When she looked back to Rhomae, however, a small smile was back on her muzzle.
“I’m sorry, Rhomae; Brychan didn’t tell us that he was bringing another hind into his harem. Excuse his rudeness, please.” Telyn did not like surprises, especially ones like this. “I’m Telyn.”
It wasn’t the idea of another hind that really bothered Telyn. No, as far as she was concerned, another hind was more than welcome! She needed to get out more and talk to others, right? What did bother her was the whole thing about Brychan not telling her and Loreena about a newcomer.

Well... this was unexpected. Brychan glanced up just in time to catch the glare. Blue eyes blinked several times in surprise as he lifted his head, ears turned forward as he heard the exchange of words. Eh? He was clearly dumbfounded, not knowing what Telyn's problem might be. After all, its not like he told Loreena that Telyn had come into the harem. Infact.. he'd never heard of such a thing, it simply never occured to him.
The stag quietly approached the two hinds, ears remaining forward and a lightly confused look on his face. "Is there a problem?" he asked, mostly directed to Telyn as she seemed to be the one with her feathers ruffled.

Loreena was excited to get some first words out of Brychan's other Hind, that saved the effort of having to speak first. but as she was about to respond, with something probably as unoriginal as a hello. there was yet another Suprise for her to focus her attention on... perhaps she should learn to expect more unexpected events in the future, would save her from the dumb looks in the Future.
but as yet another Hind approached them, she could not help but be bewildered for a moment. having only expected to meet one other Hind that Brychan had brought into his Territory, only to learn... or assume, that there was another one. she could not help but lift her head up high, in pride at this thought. Brychan had Three Hind, and in such a short time, he was a great Outrider indeed.
but her silence continued, as the words of welcome and greeting she was about to speak were cut short as Brychan's voice spoke next to them. she fanned her ears forward, looking from him, then to Telyn, who he seemed to be speaking to. she grinned nervously at the newest Hind, in a silent, somewhat Awkward welcome, rolling a shoulder as she shuffled a tan hoof in the ground.

Loreena didn’t look at all annoyed at the appearance of another hind. Privately, Telyn thought this was because the red hind was a little bit too much into the whole stag-worship thing. Sure, Telyn liked stags as much as any other hind, but she wasn’t about to think that they could do no wrong! They were only deer. Not spirits.
She shifted a little, wondering if it was the right thing to do. Maybe it was to be expected… it was Anlach, so it wasn’t as if Brychan would have to clear each and every hind with her and the others in his harem before hand. That bothered her a little. More than a little. She liked a certain measure of control over her own life, after all.
“I was just surprised at Rhomae’s appearance, that’s all. I didn’t expect another hind as you hadn’t warned Loreena and myself beforehand.”
Did stags warn their hinds before adding another? Well, they ought to, Telyn felt. It was easier to avoid trouble then. After all, what would happen if a stag claimed two enemies?

Rhomae gave Loreena a small smile, hoping to ease the hind's apparent nervousness over this all. Well, perhaps not nervousness...she looked surprised, though.
The black and white hind decided it best to address them all before addressing the one.
"The blame lies not with Brychan, but with myself, Telyn." she said in that calm voice, dipping her head a little. Easily noticing that Brychan could be in a bit of trouble with Telyn, though she knew not why, Rhomae decided to try her hand at calming things. "It was foolish of me to simply walk up without informing anyone, including Brychan, of my presence. Please, do not let my mistake cause tension."
Yes, pleease. That was the last thing Rhomae wanted to do was to cause strife in her new harem, purposefully or not. She already felt as new as she really was, and unsure of her footing. After all, it was only very recently that she was rescued from her dolt of a stag.
While waiting for a response, she turned to the hind who had yet to speak. "Excuse my rudeness...Brychan has told me that you are called Loreena. How are you today, friend?"

Brychan blinked once at Telyn's words, unsure what to make of them. He was no expert when it came to harems, but he didn't know that such things were expected, or atleast he'd never heard of it. The stag was quietly dumbfounded for a moment or two before he replied. "I see... I did not realize that such a thing was expected of me."
However, he turned his head to look at Rhomae as she spoke up and claimed that the blame was on herself. This also didn't make any sense to the stag, for now he just confused. His expression portraying that as well as he just stood there, not knowing how to react. Certainly he hadn't meant to offend, and last thing he wanted was for any of his hinds to be discontent.

She could not help but Chuckle softly at Brychan's bewilderment. she had heard stories of how Stag never fully understood Females. looking away from Brychan as the Rhomar spoke her name, Loreena smiles, turning her face down slightly, flattered that Rhomar knew who she was, and feeling bad that she could not say the same. "oh I am well. it has been quite an eventful day, so excuse my warn demeanor" she chuckled again, she did feel pretty tired from all the excitement that had happened in the day. and even now, having two Hind to get to know.
seeking to try and help the Situation even just a little bit, she turned her face towards Telyn, giving her a reasuing smile. she could understand how the Hind probably felt uncomfortable with what happened.

Telyn pouted a little as Rhomae tried to claim all the blame for herself. Oh, no, it wasn’t Rhomae’s fault at all! How could it be? She had just arrived here. It wasn’t as if she could announce her own presence without… you know. Actually being there. It was Brychan’s fault in Telyn’s mind. Well, not really ‘fault’. It was simply a minor annoyance. But, darn it, Brychan looked so cute when he was all confounded! Telyn’s annoyance melted away, as it tended to do when in the presence of cute things that demanded a cuddle.
“I’m not sure if it’s actually usual or not… I just think it’s a good idea to avoid harem drama and whatnot by checking in with those already there.” Not that she felt there would be much. Loreena seemed too quiet to actually dislike and Rhomae… well, at least the gray-striped hind spoke her thoughts. That automatically endeered her towards the snarky gray hind. “It’s nothing, Brychan. I’m probably just being edgy.” There was plenty to be edgy about, after all. She snuck a sideways look at Loreena, the favorite and unofficial leader for now, and noticed that the red hind didn’t seem at all disturbed.
So, maybe this was just Telyn’s thing. Maybe it wasn’t something that stags did.

Brychan didn't really know what to say. He did want to make sure that all of his hinds were happy and content. But well.. he had to realize that not everyone was going to like everything or everybody. However, there seemed to be no real problem that Telyn had with Rhomae... just of her sudden appearance. Admittedly.. he didn't quite understand why she was upset, but he did accept the fact that it bothered her. Hm.
"Perhaps next time... I'll give forewarning before I go looking for other hinds? Would that be suitable?" It seemed like a fair compromise to him, although his ears twitched as Telyn tried to pass it off as her being edgy. He certainly did agree that none of this was Rhomae's fault, though. Still, you have to give him credit for atleast making an effort!
The stag's bewildered expression soon turned to a wary smile, blue eyes glancing between each of the hinds.
