A simple question, but enough for a topic I believe.
I have a list, but Hannibal Lechter (Silence Of The Lambs) and Elvira Hancock (Scarface) are at the top. ^^

>> Only the blackest of heartsHannibal will always be high up on my list, but he is topped by Voldemort and Barty Crouch Jr. - insanely evil, rather then the whole "I'm smarter then you and am just gonna sit here talking until you are tricked into letting me eat you" sort of thing... following him, Freddy, Jason, and a variety of "villains" from J-Horror (who are generally just about as sadistic as you are going to get). its hard to say what makes a character my favorite... but i know that Hisoka from Yami no Matsuei and Kurikara from the same series are two of my favorites ever ^_^ i love that how, despite all thats happened in his past, Hisoka is still able to begin to recover from that because of Tsuzuki (OTP!!!!!! heart heart heart ) and then Kurikara is just AWESOME XP i guess i like the misunderstood outcast best? its hard to say... because i also like Ryuichi from Gravitation! na no da! =D ~Rin

I put the evil choice, but I love so many different combinations of characters. My favorite would probably be the evil/intelligent/silent outcast. 3nodding That's about four options, but I decided that evil matters most, though intelligence is also way up there on my scale.
Favorite character of all time: Voldemort!

Personally I connect most with four different characters most.
One - The horribly arrogant, loud, violent and all around charming. Ex: Lestat de Lioncort.
Two - The intensely dorky, intelligent, passive aggressive and possibly obsessive. Ex: Brain from Brick.
Three - The very sadistic, eccentric, silent and brooding. Ex: Hannibal Lechter.
Four - The bad guy who comes together with the good guy to defeat a greater evil, then near the end reverts back to there old ways and effs over every one. Ex: Magneto from X-Men.

Hannibal Lecter is Hannibal... the Cannibal. No more explanation needed. He is smart, sadistic, and all that jazz. And I suppose that people who are literate seem to have more of an affinity for evil, perhaps because they are more pessimistic, or perhaps it is just because the best written books are rarely comedies.

I've always tended to like the evil characters; even when I was a young child, Scar was my favorite character from Lion King, and the same with everything else I seemed to watch. My explanation is that, perhaps I (and maybe some others here) can relate to them. Most villains seem to be the smart ones with big plans for the future, and many of them have reasons for being what we call 'evil'. Depending on the circumstances, 'evil' could just be the guy who's rebelling for the oppressed minority, kind of like Scar was doing for the hyenas, although as time went on he wasn't very good at conserving resources like food. sweatdrop The point I was trying to make was that evil characters can be easier to relate to, and so many of us like them better than someone who just seems to be playing the part of a perfect little hero.

i dont find many evil characters easy to relate to, im sorry. nor do i find those perfect goody-goodies easy to relate to x_X i guess thats why i like Hisoka.... cuz he had a shitty life and a horrible death and even in death was still suffering... but now things are starting to finally look up for him...
but my point is HOW is it easier to relate to the evil characters? it seems illogical to me... im one of those people who, while not being entirely good, pretty much generally despises evil. cant say for sure why, either, but whatever... ~Rin

>> Only the blackest of heartsEvil characters are, in general, the smarter characters... and obviously a good portion of literate people are smart - otherwise they probably wouldn't be very literate. Everybody has their own personal reasons after that. Many evil people have s**t pasts also, hence why they are evil, and have to go through trials that turned them into the psychopaths we know and love today. Many evil people hate their families (which, for some reason, a lot of people also seem to do, myself included). Many evil people are pessimistic or just have something against the general population, and when you look at the world today and the people on it - you can't totally disagree. And of course, many evil people are just damn sexy. Can feel the purest of love <<

By the way - This is Hannibal. He is like... a mix between Orochimaru, Zetsu, and Itachi (Orochimaru for the voice and general creepiness; Zetsu for the cannibalism; Itachi for the ******** src="https://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g53/irasishtar/hannibal_big.jpg" class="user_img" alt="User Image" />

i still dont get why you like the EVIL ones though... having gone through what they did, resorting to evil shoes that theyre truly weak-minded, intelligent or not. which is why i prefer the intelligent characters who are cute with angsty pasts that DIDNT turn evil the absolute best. i'm using Hisoka as an example here cuz hes the best i can think of at the moment... intelligent, has a psychic ability (empathy), lived a HORRIBLE life, died a death that not even the most depraved psycho deserves, and was still even at the end all alone. yet he held on, he was strong. and then came tsuzuki. i was gonna use naruto as another example, but hes not intelligent.... so forget that XD and yeah, its 5:30 AM so i cant really think of much else right now.

>> Only the blackest of heartsHisoka's smart, but he's not that kind of intelligent where it's just like "wow, you are really, amazingly smart" - I mean, we're talking super prodigy level (such as Itachi) when we say intelligent. Hisoka is one of the good guys I like, and there always will be cool good guys (Belowski, anybody?) but as a whole - the bad guys are the ones that fit our criteria. Can feel the purest of love <<
