The copper colored cub wandered through the tall grasses, wisely sticking to well worn paths, or ways marked either by her parents or by the common come-and-go of the other lions of the pride. She had never quite had the urge to venture out where nobody could see or stop her - she wasn't quite foolish enough to do something like that. She felt herself shudder slightly at the thought of being caught alone and away from anyone's view by a hyena or a leopard that might want to kill her.
She was one of nine cubs born to Kamilika and Ta'Ziyan. The royal title of princess had never quite come to mind before. And why should it? She didn't take things for granted, really, but being a princess was simply a given. Of course, she didn't ever feel different from the other lions and cubs that called the Pridelands their home. And why should she? Simply because she was born of royal heritage didn't mean she had been born above anybody else. Or at least, she hoped it didn't. She felt terrible simply at the thought that she might order another around just because she could trade off of her parents' rank in the pride. She hadn't done anything to rise to where she was.
And then came the next thing. It was almost inevitable once the thoughts of being a princess had come up. Heiress. The word rolled off her tongue like a slippery little snake yearning to get away. And as always the strange word was accompanied by a mental image of her sister. Sarakiva. Her and Akida both. They were both heirs of the pride, were they not? Mzuza had no doubts - even at so young an age - that her lovely twin siblings would do well to rule the pride when it came their time to take over. Although as always, she felt that tiny inkling of jealousy eating away at her conscience. Wasn't she the most suited for being Heiress? She was the most mature, the wisest. And of course there was always the magic that blossomed within her that would aid her to rule.
The copper cub shook her head and squeezed her bloodred eyes closed. No, she would not let herself be jealous of Sarakiva or Akida, for they had long been named the dual heirs of the Pridelands. She had not, and that was that.
(( I just wanted to throw in her thoughts and describe them. My next posts will probably be much shorter xD
Ahh, the jealousy. That's new, I'd never planned it before. I wonder how its gonna conflict with her maturity. I mean, I'm sure she knows its petty to be jealous of something she can't change... xD ))

-Sarakiva on the otherhand, simply ate up the attention and ranking she'd been so blessed with upon birth. It was something she took pride in, and unlike her twin, who already seemed to understand the great importance of the position, she took a childish view on it. As of yet she did not see the work, the responsibility. Even with watching her mother her youth blinded her to the fact. She simply saw love. And a way to get what she pleased. And in the few days of her life she'd already began to learn how to milk it. Exactly how to charm her way into what she wanted.
Today she'd set out however not particularly looking for attention of any sort. Simply growing bored as the den cleared out, most of her siblings scattering off in small groups or solitary treks. No, she'd simply caught the familar scent of a sibling, as was following afterwards at a rather playful pace.
When the cooper coloring of her sister came into view Sara paused gently, as if trying to decide whether or not to bother her littermate, before she quickly bounded up her, calling out with a grin.- "What are you dooooing?"

Speak of the devil, Mzuza thought with a blink as the sound of Sarakiva's familiar voice floated through the warm air toward her. The copper princess had to smile. She always got along quite well with Sarakiva, and really, she had always wondered what it would be like to have a twin. She and Simi looked similar, but it wasn't enough to consider the two of them twins. For a moment, she was torn between scaring her sister off with words of deep thought and what her siblings generally thought was boring and keeping her sister's company. She decided on the latter, for she did realize that once they all reached adulthood, there wouldn't be quite enough time to wander and simply hang, even if there ever came the rare moment that she wanted to act cublike.
"Oh, nothing. I was just wondering why I was walking around on my own," Mzuza said with an innocent bat of her eyelashes. She loved the innocence that practically bubbled out of her lighter colored sister, and sometimes at night, she would find herself wishing that she could be just a fraction as carefree as any of her siblings. But she was not, and she most probably never could be, because already she knew and understood too much. She could see why lions lived in prides, and why there were so many nannies to take care of them. It was to protect them from the disaster that could very well be lurking behind every rock, every tree, every blade of insignificant grass.

"Well now you're not!" -She giggled pleasantly, picking up the few remaining steps to pull her alongside her sister. Her mind didn't twist over the complexities, and in fact her sister had been right in her thoughts. At the moment the only thing that pulled Sarakiva's mind was mild pondering over what the two of them should do now that they were together.
And suddenly there is was, words spilling out quickly, curious glance touching her sister.- "Have you seen any tree cats Mzuzu? Someone said that their were cats that climbed trees, but I've never seen it myself." -Auburn tail swaying back and forth she narrowed her eyes gently to peer in the distance.- "Do you think they can? Do you think WE can?"
-Frivilous playful thought, that made it quite clear that poor Mzuzu had become Sara's entertainment for the day. Or atleast for awhile.-

"Oh," Mzuza pulled a smile. "Wonderful." They fell into a silence as Sarakiva undoubtedly pondered what they could do, and Mzuza herself wondered why there was so much grass around. She looked up at Sarakiva's question and stopped walking, blinking as she pondered the qeustion. Her gaze wandered to a nearby tree.
"No, I've never seen a tree cat," She said quietly. "But I reckon lions could climb a bit if we tried." She nodded at the simplicity that surrounded her answer - anyone could do anything if they tried. At least that was what she had come to think. Plus, perhaps with her magic, she could climb up a tree twice as fast as any dumb tree cat ever could. Then the copper cub groaned inwardly as she realized what had just happened. Playful thoughts. And Sarakiva's playful thoughts meant she would be stuck with her, playing little games all day.

"Let's try then!" -Was the immediate piping to Mzuzu's optimism and quickly Sara's eyes turned to search the savvanah for the perfect tree. There weren't many where they lived of course, so the choices were a little slim.
Spotting a small grouping in the distance, likely feeding on a wateringhole of some sort, she motioned excitedly, taking a few bounding steps ,before turning to make sure her copper sister followed.- "I bet we can find a perfect tree over there!"
"Maybe one will even match you! That'd be the best hide and seek place ever! Up high in a tree that's the same color as you!" -She gleed and mused as her words tumbled out.-

"Well that wouldn't be very good news for you, now would it?" She said with a slight grin as she followed Sara. "You'd never find me!" She looked over at the small group of trees. Perhaps they'd find one with enough limbs to make good pawholds and then they could climb up a little. It would be far to dangerous to climb all the way to the top, but just a little couldn't hurt. Besides there was no way of knowing whether or not lions could climb without trying.

((No worries :3 As you can see, I didn't reply to ANYTHING from the 20th up until today sooooooo, right, no rush.))
"You're so lucky! I have too many colors to match things. Well except Akida!" -The small cub gleed and giggled some more at her sister's words.- "But then of course, now I'll know that I should look in trees! So everyone else will be surprised."
-Leading the way with young enthusiasm her auburn tail twitched delicately back and forth as her paws padded the ground gently. And as the trees grew larger and larger in their approach slowly she let her baby claws unsheath themselves. Claws gave a good grip! She knew that much!.-

Mzuza grinned in her agreement. "Well that's true. But at least you do have something you match up with!" She chuckled as she followed Sarakiva toward the tree. "You do that," She added. "And they might just all faint in surprise." She sat back a while as she watched her sister approach the tree. Yes, claws. At least Sara had got that claws would definitely help in climbing. It would make it a lot easier for her.
As she sat, the copper cub wondered if it would be easy to get down from the tree. She envisioned the scene. It didn't seem like much fun to be stuck up there. But then, of course, Zu herself had her magic. It didn't matter if she was stuck in the tree, she could simply... magic herself down.

-Sara didn't seem particularly upset in her sister's hanging back initally. She figured she'd come soon enough, and after all! Wasn't it Sara herself always fussing when she didn't get to do something first?
Indeed the little creme body padded up to the tree, staring up the wide trunk for a moment, before she climbed to her back feet, sticking her tiny claws into the rough bark.
It was certainly harder then the ground! Harder to get a grip, and she shuffled her paws around trying to find a place that felt good and tight, before finally lifting her hind legs up to the trunk.
Four sets of claws dug in, she seemed okay, but as one paw released to try and reach up for the next hold, her small features wobbled.- "Eeeeeeee!" -And with a loud puff of air, the little princess found herself sprawled upon the ground once more. Maw in an angry pout, and eyes seeming to threaten tears, it was hard to figure out what the cub was thinking as she stared at the tree once more.-

Mzuza grinnedin amusement at her sister's antics, and rose to her paws. She came over by Sara and gently nosed her away. "Here, let me try." Stepping confidently up to the tree, she circled it once, as close to the trunk as she could, carefully scrutinizing every dip and crack in the bark. When she had completed the round, she stood and tilted her head back, unsheathing her little cubs' claws. They dug tiny little ruts into the ground with she step that she took closer to the tree, until she stood right in front of it. Now that she had seen what wouldn't work, she would try something that wasn't what Sara had done.
Rising up on her hind legs, she placed her forepaws onto the bark, her claws curling into the hard brown shell. They seemed to fall perfectly into the jagged dips in the bark. She tested her weight lightly, and then scrambled onto the tree with her hind legs, those claws, too, gripping some of the cracks in the trunk. She gently unhooked her foreclaws and reached slightly higher, powering herself up with her hind legs. It began to flow naturally into her, as if she had been born to climb trees. Step by step, she made her way up the trunk, until she reached a fork in the branches. Here she pulled herself up and rested, peering down at Sara gleefully. "Look!" She bobbed her head, inviting her sister to join her. "Come on, it's easy!"

((Haha XD I didn't expect them to make it, since very very few lions can climb trees. But this works too! ))
-Sara watched with soft awe as her sister made it on her first attempt, without even a wobble or faulter, red eyes following her cooper sister with silent encouragement. Of course when she was actually up there.. it was a different story.
Ego stinging just as grandly as her rump did, Sara lifted herself once more, looking to the tree once again. She could try.. But did she really want to sit there and struggle with it over and over after her sister's suggestion that is was "easy"? No.. not really.
Ears falling softly against her head, she offered her sister a smile, piping up loud enough for her to hear.- "Good job Mzuza!"
-Before she turned, and bolted into the tall grasses, leaving her sister behind as she let her tiny legs carry her as far as they'd manage, which of course, wasn't very far at all.-

(( Haha. I could just have been a very small tree. Everything seems big when you're as small as them xD Plus, Zu can 'credit her climb to her magic' or something along those lines rolleyes ))
She was just beginning to smile in acknowledgement to her sister's praise when Sara turned and bolted through the grass. "Hey!" She might have leapt right of the tree if she hadn't realized she was far enough off the ground for the fall to hurt if she was to land wrong. Instead, she busied herself in trying to get off the tree. Chasing Sara could wait. She locked her hind claws into the bark and stretched down with her forepaws, reaching for a crack to hold. Having found that, she gingerly began the process of easing herself down.
Not smart. She hadn't realized just how stupid an idea it was to go headfirst, but by the time she did, she was too far down to pull herself back up. She slowly inched down the tree, and it almost looked like she was going to make it...
"Eeeep!" Her claws loosed and she fell from the trunk, landing in a heap of paws and tail. "Ow..." Not smart. Not smart at all.

((Awwww *pats her* Silly cubbies XD))
-Sara ran as far as her tiny paws could carry her, before her breath began to become harsh and she pulled to a stop. Glancing back she could still see the tree in the near distance, but she sank into the grass reguardless, trying to catch her breath.
If her mouth weren't wide with exhaling she'd probably have pouted, but instead the little princess simply sulked. Why had it been so easy for Mzuza?
Settling her head in her paws she lay silently, except for the loud in and outs of breaths that puffed and swayed the grasses in front of her.-
