Janja had just found out from her mother that they were heading for the Pridelands. It'd been an eventful day for the small lioness, her and her sister made a new friend and then found out they would be leaving the Jungle soon. With this news, Janja remembered Hayate and how they said they would play again another time. If they left the jungle soon, then there would be no way they could do that!
"Hayate!" she called out, running through the trees as gracefully as she could. Since that day she went flower-hunting with Hayate, she'd become much better at getting around without tripping. Janja ran in hopes of finding Hayate where she had found him before, and she was surprised to find she had very little trouble getting there.
"Hayate!" Janja tried again, but was starting to feel that she might not find him so easily. What were the odds he would anywhere around here anyway? With a sigh, she came to a stop and took a seat beside a tree to try to think of how to go about finding him.

Hayate was bounding through the undergrowth a smile upon his maw as his seemingly forming mane was pushed by the wind that seemed to follow him as he tred a path not trodden before. Least to him, it seemed that way. His bright green orbs fell upon the brightly toned flowers. The trees seemed to be adorned with them, and they made Hayate wish to find his friend again.
He hadn't seen her in so long, he wanted to show her the beginning of his mane!
"Janja...where are you?" he said mildly loud, not to scream however, he would feel like he would've disturbed the peace of the jungle. He was getting used to wander on his own a bit now, but he longed for company none the less, and definitely that of Janja's.
Where could she be?
"Janja?"

(( No, I'm not still procrastinating << ))
Janja wasn't paying a great deal of attention to what was happening around her, but she distinctly thought she heard a familiar voice call her name. The little lioness made a face and looked around her curiously, trying to find the source- could Hayate actually be around here? Hopeful, she got back to her feet and made a circle around the tree she'd been sitting by.
"Hellooo?" she called out.

Green eyes scattered around the area.
He knew he heard a voice that time?
Hayate peered up the tree trunk in front of him, wiggled his butt and tail, and jumped up, grasping the trunk, letting his claws get their grip, and he slowly but surely climbed up a few feet...and then clung for dear life. "Janja I know you're here but where?" He missed her, believed he heard her.
Had he?
He hoped so.

Janja could heard the sound of someone jump, and after a moment the sound of the same voice call out her name. It took her a moment to try to figure out where it came from, but she took some brave steps out and around. It seemed to be coming from above her, so she made sure to watch the ground and the trees.
"Hayate?" she called curiously, and spotted a familiar tail swaying in a nearby tree. With a grin, she darted forward- lucky to have found the tree that he'd climbed up.
"I found you!" Janja called up playfully.

"Janja!" Hayate exclaimed, a smile upon his maw, his tail wriggling in excitement, "Yes you found me, here I come," he hopped down from his spot (which wasn't very high up at all) and smile, crouched down and grinned. "Been too long Janja, look how you've grown, wow!" Hayate said circling around her laughing.
"Look, look," he said leaning his head down, mawing at his 'mane'. "Its so great to see you Janja I've missed you."

"I was looking for you! I didn't expect to really find you, though," she explained gleefully, still happy that she managed to find him. Mother had said they would be leaving soon, if she had not found him now she might not have gotten to see him again! When Hayate circled her and commented on how she'd grown, she held her head high with a grin. They both had gotten bigger, it looked like!
"Wow!" she admired the fluffy part of his head, "You're getting fluffy. I didn't know leopards got manes!" Janja was still under the impression that her friend was a leopard, though from her experience with Mleli she knew that Nac and Hayate didn't look quite the same- but then, boy lions looked different than girl lions. Just like her mother and father.

"Yea isn't it cool? I want a big fluffy mane," he said puffing his chest out. Yes, then he'd be adorable and girls would like him and stuff! Even though Hayate believed that his brothers still didn't like girls, but Ger, his big brother Ger had a mane so Hayate wanted one too! "I can't believe we found each other today, such a stroke of luck!" he said with a smile and a purr-growl.
He was happy to see his friend again.
"What should we do today Janja? Flower hunt? Just walk around, maybe we can come with me and we can stay near my family tonight and tomorrow we can play all day every day now that I know how to get back here!"

Janja giggled at him when he puffed out, annoucing his desire to have a big mane. It was hard to imagine Hayate with such a thing, but they had gotten bigger since they last met so it was definetely possible! That didn't mean she had to be able to imagine it without laughing.
"Very lucky," she agreed, though she knew why it was especially lucky. When Hayate started listing things they could do, she wriggled excitedly- until he mentioned tonight, and tomorrow and every day. She almost didn't want to say it, but she had to, "I can't stay here that long, m-my family is leaving the Jungle soon.."

Hayate stopped in his excited pacing, his green eyes settling on Janja's, his mouth open somewhat in a stare that read 'w-what?'. His ears fell back a little, his tail flicked once and then lay still behind him as he stood still, "Y-your leaving? Why?"
No, this couldn't happen, all his friends left.
Mana left before...now Janja? No. no!
""No! You can't leave, I don't want you to leave..." he said with his eyes closed so he wouldn't cry. He wanted to be a big and strong male one day, but this was making him so sad. He didn't want her to go, "Why do you have to go..."

When Hayate stopped and stared, Janja frowned and took a hesitant step towards him. As excited as she'd been when Uche had told her and Ekevu about the Pridelands, as eager as she had been to see it, especially when they were informed that was exactly where they were going... she didn't realize how hard this part of it would be.
"My parents decided we were going to go see the Pridelands," she explained, doing the childish thing of not admitting that she had wanted to go, that she was somewhat excited about it, "My mother has family there, a-and we're going to see them, and see what it's like outside the Jungle.."

Hayate sat back and pawed at the ground somewhat, he wasn't sure what to say, that he was happy she was going to see family though he would be sad? He didn't want to put a downer on her trip but, this seemed so hard, why was it so hard? Seemed like every friend he made had to go away and leave him alone.
He flicked and wriggled his tail, and offered a smile on his maw, "It'll be nice to see family, you'll have loads of fun there," though he didn't know where the Pridelands actually were. Maybe Ger knew. Hayate knew he should ask him later. "When will you come back so I can look for you again?"

Janja watched Hayate carefully and could see that something was wrong, and she felt the same way. Hayate was one of her best friends, she'd thought of him after being told if they had goodbyes they had to hurry..
"I know. It sounds really different, Kev and I ran into a little.. um.. I don't know what he is called, and he told us about it before mom did," she explained, not sounding nearly as enthusiastic as she had with her mother though some enthusiasm did leak through, "I- I don't know when I'll be back here."
Her voice saddened at that admission. She should have thought to ask about that! She didn't even want to imagine that they wouldn't come back, that she wouldn't be able to find Hayate to tell him about it.

"Oh..." Hayate didn't know what else to say. He curled his tail around him somewhat and pawed at the ground again, ears back a bit, his pre-mane fluff falling over his eyes a bit. He didn't want Janja to go, he didn't want all of his friends to leave, he didn't want her to go.
He wanted her to stay.
But how could he ask her to stay when she belonged with her family?
He sighed lightly, very softly so she wouldn't hear, and looked up, his bright green orbs showing happiness for his friend, but it was masking his sadness, and he had a smile on his maw. "You'll have fun, have a nice time while you're there Janja and...come back soon," if you can he added in his head.
He took a step toward her and wrapped one of his paws around her neck/shoulder, to give her somewhat of a hug.
He just didn't want to say good-bye.

Janja looked away from Hayate to where he pawed at the dirt. She didn't know what to say, she wanted to invite him to come but she knew he had his family he had to stay with, just like she had to be with hers. They weren't going to be able to change any of it, not reasonably.
When he told her to have fun and come back soon, she glanced up and nodded firmly. She would come back, even if she had to alone. Her parents weren't still with their parents, she wouldn't always be with them. She would come back and find him.
"I'll come back," she replied, leaning in and returning the hug-like gesture, "I promise. Then I can tell you all about the Pridelands." She took a moment before drawing back.
"I guess we're not going to play," Janja noted, she wasn't sure she was really keen on it now, "Want to walk with me back to the waterfall?" It was something to do, to prolong the time before they really had to say goodbye.
