Night had finally settled as the cresent moon loomed within the sky- shrouded by the cirrus clouds that created a haze and distorted the deep blue canvas into looking bleak and grim. But even in the darkest of nights, there always was mischief working with idle paws, hidden secrets, mysteries and, of course, new life.
The black and white swirled wolf laid in a heap of limbs and fur aside his mate; his body was nestled close to her in attempt to keep her comfortable, warm and protected as the bitter chills of the night were quite brutal and there was no sense in letting the love of his life feel alone and vulnerable. If anything, Damu would lay his life on the line for her and especially while there were their unborn litter on the line. Another litter, another series of traits and personalities and even the potential for an even bigger family to come to pass.
It all seemed so surreal.
Shifting slightly as his tail seemed to thump across his mates, Damu flickered his weary, emerald orbs open as he gave a great yawn. He let his eyes mull across the den, finding Leith to have stumbled in while both he and Taima were asleep and had made himself at home with sprawling near the entrance. Drifting his gaze towards his mossy green and black hued lover, Damu rumbled softly and nuzzled against her.
Damu didn't want to awaken her from her slumber as it seemed that, lately, she had become more restless and sleep was something that did not come so easily. Lying his head upon his paws and seeking to fall back into sleep, Damu was met by the two toned eyes of his son curiously peering at him with a grin spread across his face.
"I still have that secret," he teased, ears perking upwards as he yawned a little.
The white and back swirled wolf cocked an eyebrow up and gave a low chuckle alongside a deep rumble. "What are you looking for in return? I have a feeling that this won't come cheap."
"I don't want anything. It's a surprise for you and mom," Leith whispered.
"Don't wake her up. She needs her sleep just as you do."
"I'll wait till she's up."
"Do you realize how long that will be?"
"I'll still be waiting."
Shaking his head and rolling his eyes slightly, Damu tapped his claws against the den floor and nestled his head inbetween his paws. "You're too patient and persistent, you know?"
"I get it from you," Leith chimed, a widespread smirk across his face. "Like father, like son."
"Then be like your father and get some sleep," the tapered white and black swirled wolf groaned, closing his eyes as he shifted again and yawned, his tongue lolling out of his mouth and closing slowly.
Laughing to himself, the white and gold swirled male wrinkled his muzzle and thumped his tail merrily upon the ground. Good ol' dad! He certainly was a charmer and his ways of dealing with those he loved and cared for was quite unique when it came inbetween him and sleeping. For now, the den was silent and its occupants were sleeping.
Oh if only they knew what was to come.

The pregnant female awoke with a start in the middle of the night, some of her fur matted down with sweat. She thought it was her dream that had made her so nervous, nervous enough to wake up suddenly. But she couldn't remember anything, not even if she had dreamt in the night. Perhaps it was something else. Whatever it was, though, she knew she needed some air.
Lifting her head, she peered around curiously. She saw two sleeping figures close to her. One she knew instantly as her mate. He always slept beside her. The other one took her a little longer to figure out, as he was a little father away and she hadn't thought to check the air for smells. Finally, though, her brain woke up fully and recognized the swirled fur of one of her sons, Leith. She smiled, loving the two boys for keeping her company.
But while she had been looking at the other two, Tai felt as if the walls were closing in. It was too hot in the den, especially with three fully grown wolves occupying it.
Lifting herself to her paws, she felt her legs wobble underneath her. She feared falling, for any which way she fell she would possibly land on her stomach and endanger the puppies. But, thankfully, she managed to keep her balance. The pups' danger had passed. Sighing gratefully, she then moved carefully around Damu and Leith, checking the ground first before she actually set all of her weight on it. She didn't want to accidentally end up stepping on one of them.
Finally she found herself standing outside of the den, the cold air brushing soothingly past her. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, savoring the cool of the night.
As the mother stood there, enjoying the breeze, a sudden wave of pain shot through her. At first it seemed to be in her stomach, and she mistook it for bad meat she had eaten. She straightened herself up and attempted to ignore the pain. But as the minutes ticked on, the pain increased, and suddenly she was shot with a contraction. Her eyes widened as she felt the familiar tingle and pain. She had felt this before, and this time she didn't wave it away as stomach problems.
"DAMU!"

The sound of scuffled paws upon the den floor had caused the white and gold swirled male to stir. His ears flickered as he wearily fluttered his eyes open, peering about and glancing around. It took his eyes a moment or two to adjust but, as they did, a warm smile curled upon his maw as he watched his mother, Taima, stagger outside of the den a ways where nights chilling breeze could make her more comfortable.
Most nights it seemed as if it was a ritual; Leith had often watched her make an effort to retreat outside of the den to where her body temperature could cool and be soothed by the brisk, night air.
Smiling as he was about to settle his head back upon his forepaws, the sudden outcry of his mother caused him to nearly jump onto all fours. "MOM!" He cried, making haste to leap to his feet and run to her aid. Rushing in front of her and nuzzling against her, the two toned eyes of the white and gold swirled male were shook with concern and certainty that it was time. "It's okay, mom. You have to get back into the den and lay down," he calmly spoke, a rush of adrenaline surging within his veins as his ears fell against his head.
The alarming call of his mate did not go unnoticed and the tapered, white and black swirled male had awoken as he shook his head and narrowed his eyes to where his mate and son stood a bit outside of the den.
"TAIMA!" He whined, ears pinning against his head as he bounded forwards to his mate side and began soothing her worries and pain as best he could would tender kisses and nuzzling deep within her fur. "Come on, love, breath- just breath, deep breaths. Taima, you need to take a few steps back and get into the cave a bit- it'll be safe for you and the coming pups," he nuzzled, lifting his muzzle upwards to nibble gently upon her ear.
Looking towards his son who continued to nuzzle and reassure Taima, Damu smiled warmly and nodded his head as he gazed back towards his mate.
"Leith and I are here to help, love. Just tell us what you need."

Taima stood awkwardly, legs splayed slightly to brace the contractions. She knew how odd she looked, and she knew how crucial it was that she get inside of the den. It was nice and cool out for her, but for the puppies it would chill them to their tiny bones. They needed to be inside the den where they would be nicely insulated, warm and cozy and well-fed by their mother.
As Leith and Damu came rushing out of the den, she felt herself relaxing slightly. She'd have all the help she needed, there was no reason to worry. She nuzzled her boys, each in turn as they comforted her.
"I need... I need.."
Another contraction.
"I NEED TO LAY DOWN."
Quickly, but not quite so suddenly that she would crush the puppies, the mother in labor fell down to the ground and rolled onto her side. These puppies were coming now. They'd just have to move them inside once they were all out.
"Damu.." she panted, in between contractions and waves of pain. "They're coming... now. I can't make it inside." She shut her eyes tight as more pain rushed through her. The contractions were steady now, and she knew it would be no time at all until the pups were out into the world, greeting their family with squeals and squirms. The thought made her smile and made the pain that much more bearable.
"I just need.. you to stay here. Stay with me.."

It was clearly evident that there was certainly no time to get Taima into the den now. Both Damu and Leith watched as the wolfess sunk towards the ground and rolled onto her side- instincts taking over as the time for their second litter to come into the world was at hand and it seemed that nothing would stop them from their unschedueled arrival.
The black ears of the adult male fell against his skull as a comforting, reassuring rumble emitted from his chest as he slinked towards her back and curled around her. His cheek pressed against that of his mates as he turned his head slightly, planting countless kisses upon her as his emerald eyes held hope, excitement and curiosity. He was going to be a father again! It seemed almost surreal- as if it was only yesterday when Leith, Darius, Rei and Nasrin were born, even when they found Kaede struggling for life. How fast time had flown by! Their first litters childhood days were memories and now- now both Damu and Taima would relive them once more with the bringing forth of a new generation of family.
"Of course, love, of course." He softly spoke, nuzzling deep into her black and mossy green fur as he curled his body around her more tightly. "I'm not going to leave your side and neither is Leith." Glancing up to his sons two toned eyes, Damu knitted his brows and bit his lower lip, pleading his son to stay near if anything, though he didn't like to think such thoughts, turned to mishaps.
The white and gold swirled male nodded his head, his calm and loving eyes focusing upon his mother and father.
"I'll be here the whole time to help, mom."
Staying up but sinking onto his haunches, Leith kept watch as Damu nibbled on his mates ear trying to calm and soothe her worries as he knew the process was soon to begin. Already the contractions were begining and the pain was already washing over his mate. When the first pup would emerge- he didn't know. For now, all the white and black swirled male could do was to become a support system and a relief of stress for his mate.
"Deep breaths, Taima, you can do it- second time's a charm," he commented with a soft chuckle, licking her muzzle as he waited.

The laboring mother took comfort in the fact that her mate and her son would be there to help her should anything go wrong. But even their presence could do nothing to distill the pain that was rising with each passing moment. The time for her second litter was close at hand, and there was nothing she could do to stop them. She only wished they had been more timely and had allowed her time to enter the den...
But there was no point in thinking of what they should have done or what could have happened. All that mattered was that she focus herself and get these puppies out into the world.
A contraction swept through her belly, and she groaned, clawing the ground with her ever-present claws. The dirt became churned and messy as she squirmed about, looking to find a comfortable position but at the same time knowing that she would never be comfortable until this was all over with.
Opening her eyes slightly, she checked to make sure both Leith and Damu were still there. Confident that they weren't going anywhere, she shut her eyes again as more pain swept through her.
Through the pounding in her ears, it was amazing Tai was able to hear the words of her mate. But somehow she did, and she began to take slow breaths, calming herself down. But the contractions were indicating more and more that the first puppy would be soon to make its appearance...
Murmuring low curses to herself, she readied herself. Another contraction, and she pushed. Nothing. But this was only the beginning, she knew. Finally, after twenty minutes of pushing and laboring, there was a pup squirming underneath her tail. This one had come out rather violently, as if it demanded it be brought into the world. It had caused her a great deal of pain, but the moss-colored wolf simply smiled through it all.
Straining about, she picked off the slimy layer around her pup and quickly began to clean. Within minutes, it was clear what the pup looked like: a slight tan with white swirls everywhere, complimented with a bit of black on her forelegs, tail, back, nose, and even her ears.

Taima smiled, nosing the pup to her belly to suckle. As she did so, she noted that the pup she had just birthed was female. Another daughter! Looking up to her mate and son, she wagged her tail with wonderful delight.
"It's a girl."
Just then, another contraction shot through her. She recoiled in pain and braced herself. Another pup was on the way.

The white and black swirled male tucked himself closer- pressing lightly against his mate as a groan emitted from her maw while her claws scuffled upon the dirt ground, trying to position herself in a decent and comfortable stance. With experience in being a father and witnessing birth, to Damu it seemed nearly impossible in every finding such a stance at which any female could give birth in. Even the idea of the birthing process sent a shiver down through his spine and made him close his eyes while a sickly sensation seemed to churn within his stomach.
Yes- it was a beautiful thing for one to witness but, truthfully, some females had to be tough than males and deal with delivering however many pups they were to have because of love and the desire to have a family of their own. In Damu's eyes, Taima was stronger than him and how he loved for that.
Reassuing her, Damu planted a tender kiss upon her maw as his tail thumped merrily with estatic nature behind him. "You're doin' fine, love."
As the process had begun and the first contraction was given and the next one began, Leith's two toned eyes slightly widened as he endured and watched his mother struggle and, at last, finally deliver the first newborn pup of the litter into the world. His ears perked upwards as he drew his head in closer, looking upon the small pup with a marveling gaze, awe and curiosity. He couldn't help but give a small grin as his eyes danced upon the lightly tan female, musing over her strange markings that resembled more of Damu than Taima.
"The infamous swirls return again," he chuckled, glancing towards his father with a smirk as he flashed his teeth. "Sooner or later you need to let mom have more credit, dad. The only one who looks like her is Darius. That's a bit unfair."
Damu's whole attention was focused upon his mate, her voice breaking his concentration as his ears perked upwards as her soothing voice caused his heart to almost skip a beat! "A girl," his maw dropped as the words smoothly and tenderly sailed from his maw. Nuzzling against her as a deep rumble emitted from his chest, glancing at Leith with hearing the scattered words he had spoken. "I can't help it- blame the genes," he replied with a smirk of his own.
Nestling closer, Damu settled himself as by his mates body language could only convey that the next puppy was on the way.

Taima had been completely delighted when she had birthed her firstborn of the newest litter. There was a feeling that came with being a mother, one that rose above all else and couldn't possibly be dominated by any other feeling...
And that feeling lasted for all of a few seconds, for the next pup was on its way and ready to come out into the world. Wanting to get all of the pain over and done with, the laboring mother didn't waste any time in heeding the pup's demand. She pushed and pushed, working to get the pup out of her and into the world.
But despite all of the pain that the pup was causing inward, it didn't make its appearance so quickly as the first one. In fact, it took a whole of almost an hour before it showed up. And, in the meantime, Taima attempted to distract herself by listening to the males' conversation.
"That's alright, Leith," she strained. "Your father has pretty darn good looks." She smiled and nuzzled against him, before turning back to her laboring.
The near hour passed, and there was a little head poking out. Encouraged, the moss-colored female pushed one final time, and the puppy slipped out, landing on the ground with a nice umph. Doing as she had done before, with the first pup, she moved around to clean off the newest pup. Of course, her first one was still suckling and so her movement was limited. But she made do and eventually managed to lick the pup clean. Once that task was finished, she took a moment to look over her newest child.
This pup was a great contrast against its sister, dark black with white that went all the way from its face, down its neck to its shoulders, following down along its sides until it ended at the tail.

Taima smiled and nudged the newest one alongside its sister, taking note again of its gender. A boy. Her tail thumped excitedly. Already one boy and one girl. She wondered how the rest would play out. Would it be evenly matched between the girls and boys, or would one gender win out over the other? There was only one option: wait and see.
"It's a boy," she smiled in the meantime, directing her attention towards her son and mate.

For both Damu and Leith, the awaiting of the next pup to arrive was agonizing and stretched out their patience and anticipation. Already the total in both generations of family was with the score of boys with two and girls with four including the newborn female. Where were the boys? They're numbers were few and they certainly needed to control the girls-or at least hold a good number against them.
Was that even possible?
A broad smile flashed upon the white and gold swirled males maw as he chuckled softly while his tail thumped behind him. "True- and it's a good thing that the boys do have their fathers looks. Leith and Darius; the fine, ridicuously good looking sons of Damu and Taima," he added with a rather cunning smirk, chest puffed out slightly as his mind seemed to fall into a somber mourning.
Darius-
Where had he gone?
It certainly was nothing like the old days where the two brothers would venture off together, searching for females and working on their skills that their father had let them inherit. But being apart from Darius and knowing that his brother resented him was a pain that toiled and consumed his heart with anguish and wrothed great turmoil of feelings within his soul. Leith could never hate, he could hold a grudge for a while but hating took energy away and that certainly was something that the white and gold swirled male wouldn't sacrifice or put to waste. But would his brother ever put aside his anger?
Leith didn't know; he could only hope.
A smug expression drew across the white and black swirled males maw as he rumbled with pride and buried his muzzle deep within her mossy-black hued fur.
"I'm not taking all the credit," he laughed softly, trying to keep his voice low so he wouldn't distrub the one pup, "Taima's looks influence as much as mine do."
But it seemed that both Leith and Damu became distracted as the next pup emerged and its true appearance was unveiled as Taima had finished cleaning- him? It was a boy! Another boy brought the tally to the boys with three and the girls with four! It was close! Who was going to win? Which gender would topple the other? Or, perhaps, would it be a tie?
Who knows?
Leith stifled a laugh as the pup represented purely Damu. The colors and even the swirls that fell down from the top of his head screamed "Damu!". Yet unlike the tattered, large statured male- this pup was definately more tapered and had fur that had a bit more edge to it.From the top of his head to its pawpads, the fur certainly held a new breed of characteristics.
"We shall name him Damu Junior," Leith commented with a widespread grin across his maw, two toned eyes brilliant with thrill and excitement.
"No-" the bulky, white and black swirled male chuckled as he shook his head. "No Juniors or seconds, or thirds. One Damu is enough."
"Then what's his name?"

Taima settled with a great sigh as there were two pups suckling at her belly. Her energy was already spent, and she wondered vaguely how long she would be having to do this for. Her last litter had contained five pups, four of which she had actually birthed. She couldn't remember exactly how long that had taken, and so now she was completely at a loss.
But that was no matter. She would stay in labor forever if it meant she got to be a mother. Just that feeling that she got... it was like being on top of the world.
Looking down at her two puppies, she couldn't help but smile ridiculously. Lowering her head, she licked the both of them delicately. Both pups squirmed at the touch, but for the most part remained suckling the delicious milk from their mother. Tai was content with that for now, and so she turned her attention back towards her mate and son.
"I don't know, love," she chuckled. "Right about now, it seems you've got more influence than me." She motioned to the pups nestled at her belly. Both bore markings more similar to their father than their mother.
As the conversation went into what they would name the Damu look-alike, she laughed slightly again. "That's right. More than one Damu and I think the bringing back of sexy would be broken from over usage." She grinned at this. But her grin faded into a look of somewhat confusion as Leith asked what they would name the little male. She wondered at this, flicking her ears.
"I don't know... but we don't have to think of a name right--OW!"
The mother nearly coiled completely around her puppies as another wave of pain washed through her. She hated it when that happened, when the pain caught her off guard and seemed to hurt more then than any other time. It seemed that the next pup was well on its way.
This pup came quicker than all of the others, clocking in at a record five minutes. But it didn't come out without making its mother pay some. It was the most painful of experiences she had ever gone through, and she lay exhausted with the pup squirming some in a layer of liquid and slime. Though Tai desperately wanted to simply fall asleep there, she knew what she had to do, and she knew her duty to her pups. So she lifted herself up some and proceeded to clean the third pup, placing this one beside its siblings as she had done before.
Another male, and this one showed a color that neither of the parents possessed: brown.

The mother blinked. The pup was dominantly brown, with some lighter browns on his underbelly. Black was splashed on his legs, the tip of his tail, and along his back and the back of his head and neck.
"Damu..?" she questioned, looking up at her mate. Where did so much brown come from?

"One Damu is enough for these woods and bringing sexy back must be limited," he added, a smirk across his maw as he then furrowed his brows looking from Leith back to Taima.
A name? That certainly was one thing that they could wait and brainstorm on.
But before Leith or Damu could speak again, both males nearly gasped as the wolfess was hit by a wave of pain causing both wolves to suddenly stir and clench their teeth. The white and black swirled male knew it was part of the bargin for any wolfess who sought to have pups but to watch the agony and his mate experience such pain never settled well with him. With Leith practically on edge, Damu seized his mates maw in kisses and affection.
"Keep going, love," he whispered, coaxing her and helping to do whatever he could, if possible, to divert her mind from the pain.
It was surprising to see that the next pup to emerge seemed to easily slid out with little hassle and break into the new world. Curiously watching, it seemed both males let a grin slid across their maws only to discover that the new pup was a little boy. With that, the total was now brought to four boys and four girls.
The family was now in a tie.
His mind was whirling in the thoughts of a proud father; reveling in the joys and the things he was to help his sons experience and learn. The large, brutish male seemed to chuckle to himself as he couldn't help but think he'd get to take on the role of the protective father of his new daughters once again and be able to intimidate any young male seeking to win his daughters hearts. By far that always seemed to be his favorite role along with being playful and messing around with the pups.
Black ears perked upwards as he glanced towards his mate, confusion clearly written on her face. But the words she spoke seemed to bombard his ears as he hadn't yet looked upon the small pup whose fur was clean and free of the slime.
"What are you tal-"
Words seemed to suddenly cease from out of his maw as he looked upon their newborn pup, emerald orbs widening as his maw simply dropped. Brown. Black. Brown. Brown. Brown! The muscles within his shoulders tensed as he could feel the fur upon his neck bristle slightly. Brown- of all the colors, brown! This was a curse- no, this was a cruel joke his genes just had to play on him!
Damu flattened his ears against his skull and rumbled a very unhappy growl within his throat.
"Jaxom."
Instantly, Leith's head perked upwards, tilting it slightly with a bewildered expression washed upon his face. "Jaxom? Whose Jaxom? A relative?"
"....."
The white and black swirled male remained quiet, thoughts mulling over the memories, the heartache and the bloodshed that drove the wedge between them. It was painful to recollect- the time they had lost and the hatred between them but somethin inside of the tapered, large male told him that the feelings and rivalry between them had cooled and that there was a definate need for the two brothers to reunite and make amends once and for all.
But was he ready to?

Taima took quick glances from her newest son to her mate, then back and forth again. She could see the anger rising up in her mate's face. She could only guess at the things he was thinking and feeling as he looked down at the brown pup, the brown that had come from a certain someone whom they weren't on good terms with.
The last time the mossy colored female had seen Jaxom hadn't been a happy time. He had seemed to lose his mind, attacked Damu and, since she had gotten in the way, Tai as well. He had nearly crippled her, nearly killed her. She had been unable to walk very far after the battle, and it had only been through the generous help of a shaman that she had survived. She knew Damu had never forgiven his brother for that, even when she had.
And to have a son that so strongly represented his brother... she couldn't imagine how he felt. She was having mixed feelings herself. As a mother, she loved and adored her son to no tomorrow, but there was a part of her that feared if the pup's resemblance to Jaxom would go further than looks.
She could only hope that their son was different.
When Damu growled, Taima snapped out of her trance and glared at him. "Damu!" she snapped, moving the brown pup closer to her body for protection. A rabid bear couldn't get through a mother determined to protect her child. The pup, meanwhile, cried off and on, as if he didn't know what he wanted. Cry. Silence. Cry. Silence..
"How dare you! I know you don't like your brother, but for goodness sakes... this is your son. I actually think this is a sign. You need to straighten things out with Jaxom." She spoke fiercely, her tone implying that there was no room for debate over this.
"As soon as the pups are old enough, you're going to see your brother."
Which, speaking of pups...
The female flinched and coiled back as a wave of pain shot through her. Another pup. Forgetting the Jaxom dilemma for the time being, she focused herself on getting this pup out. She wondered again how many more there would be, but her thoughts were cut short as the pain simply took over every thought and feeling. There was no room for anything else.
Fifteen minutes later and there was another pup under her tail. Repeating routine, the mother cleaned all slime and liquid from her pup and moved it beside its siblings, some of whom had fallen asleep with bellies full of warm milk.
"Another son," she breathed, almost out of breath.
This pup was a little more strange in coloring. He was mostly black, yes, but also had orange on his toes, back, and face, as well as yellow swirls and a yellow tail. The yellow she somewhat understood, but the orange..

Taima looked to Damu again, fearful of his reaction.

Betrayal.
Bloodshed.
Brother against brother.
His mind was whirling, circling and recollecting the struggles and the hardships that had been brought upon he and Jaxom. Life was never easy- but what had fueld the rage between them? What had stirred the ruthless nature within both of them? Perhaps it was that fateful night where mankind had stormed the packland and killed their family, their friends and loved ones? Damu was the cause for he had abandoned his watch- he was the one to blame. Was it not finding him sooner? Maybe his younger brother felt as if he had never cared for him? The thoughts bewildered him and the root of what had caused their hearts to severe and their brotherhood to turn to ferocity.
Taima's sudden retaliation to his unknown growl caused his ears to flatten against his head, for his mind and conciousness to return once again. His brows knitted, somewhat bewildered.
"Wha-" looking towards the small pup, Dam's eyes softened feeling with tears that had yet to trail down his cheeks. "I don't resent my son because of his fur. Do you honestly think I would reject my own son because of his fur?" His bottom lip quivered, ears pinning fully against his skull as he intook a deep breath.
Meanwhile, Leith stood silent- not knowing what to say or make of the situation. From all that he could gather was that Jaxom was his brother and, perhaps, it was the color or appearance of his newborn brother that gave Damu a discomfort and remembrance of something that pained him.
Reaching over delicately with his muzzle, Damu tried to soothe the small pup as his cries seemed to solace and then silence. He rumbled a calm soothing sound as his muzzle nuzzled and brushed against him hoping to comfort the small boy. Glancing up to his mate as tears continued to trail down from his pools of crimson, the white and black swirled male sighed softly. "I would rather die than turn away one of my own- one of our own. And I know, I know I still have to make amends..."
Biting his lower lip as he slowly pulled away his head from the pup, Damu nodded his head. "When they're old enough we will find him."
As the distraction of pain ovetook his mates attention, Damu nestled close to her as he glanced over towards Leith. His eyes simply conveyed sadness and the weight of such a secret- the secret of his brother that he had not intended for anyone to ever know.
But it was too late.
Watching as his mate concieved another pup, the white and black swirled male couldn't help but glance over to where their new son resided alongside the rest of his siblings. He knitted his brows, eyes falling across the same yellow, although somewhat toned down, like that of Taima, Darius and Leith, the jet black pelt tapered like Damu's and-
Orange.
Coming to the realization that there was no sense in malice, anger or hatred against Jaxom nor against his pups- certainly not against his pups for harboring the colors of his brother upon their fur, the large statured male mused a small smile across his maw.
"Just think- if Jaxom even happened to ever find a mate, I bet he'll have to deal with a pup just like me," he chuckled, trying to stay optomistic as the colors of his son were certainly unique.
"Time for names?"

Taima instantly softened as Damu began speaking again. She had assumed too much, and perhaps a bit of her own hidden rage had come out at him. She didn't understand how Jaxom could have done that to her and her mate, to have walked away and never searched them out to apologize. That mixed with the pressure of being a mother again must have been too much...
"No, I don't think you would do that Damu," she whispered, her tone barely audible. Of everything one would think of her mate, that was perhaps the last of them all. Never would the black and white male reject his child, no matter what they did. There was no 'failure' child or trophy kid for him. He loved all of his kids more than he loved life. She knew that, and she felt ashamed to have snapped at him as she had before.
"I know Damu, I know.." she said softly, her head hanging low with her eyes averted. How could she have snapped at him like that? And while she had just given birth to their new litter! This was supposed to be a happy time.
The female wished so much to be able to curl up against him and just forget everything, but she had puppies to look after.
"I'm sorry, love," she spoke to him, finally lifting her gaze so that she could peer into his eyes. "Just promise me that you will try to make things better with your brother?"
Then, wanting to just drop the whole Jaxom subject for the time being, Tai turned her attention back towards her pups, some of them suckling and some of them still sleeping. A small smile crept upon her features as she nosed each one of them in turn, followed by a gentle lick.
When Damu suggested naming them, she looked up at him for a moment. "Fine by me," she smiled, wagging her tail slightly. "Which do you want to name first?"

His head nestled underneath her chin, lifting it up and drawing his muzzle upwards as it trailed lightly within her mossy green and black hued fur and drawing it towards her maw where he seized it with tender kisses and licks. "It's okay," he reassured with a calm, compassionate tone to his voice as he rumbled softly again, ears perking upwards as his black banded tail curled around him. "Thinking about what happened is- difficult to say the least, but we can make it through. And I can make things right, I know I can- I just need time and to prepare myself."
Tensions about the past concerning his brother were taunt and both Damu and Taima knew that the frustration and upset feeling towards the incident so long ago was mixing with the most joyous event of having a new litter. It was evident that, finally, the past had to be put behind them and amends were needed.
Who knew what the tawny and carrot colored male was up to or what he had been doing all of this time but, one thing was for sure, Damu needed to find him and introduce him to his nieces and nephews- all nine of them.
Looking into the serene and calm eyes of his mate, the white and black swirled male nodded his head with a tender smile curled upon his maw.
"I will- I'll try to make things better."
Leith had remained quiet, letting his parents deal with the conflict concerning this Jaxom and letting them talk amongst themselves. It wasn't his business and he had no right to barge in on the conversation and interrupt. He was sure that, in time, he would come to know the full details as to who Jaxom was and what the conflict was that erupted between his parents and the foreign wolf.
His ears flickered as he tilted it to the side as the conversation changed- the topic was now what to name the new puppies. The two toned eyes of the white and gold wolf seemed to grow wide with brilliance as he smiled from ear to ear, drawing closer towards the puppies and sitting in front of them upon his haunches.
"Start off with the girl, dad," Leith commented as he lowered his muzzle towards the ground and peered at the small pup. "She might be the easiest, right?"
A grin tucked at the corner of his maw as his emerald orbs narrowed curiously towards the only female pup.
"Sure. Any suggestions?" He replied, looking from his son to his lover.
