Adamu was being lazy, like always. He had been hiding out within the woods again, trying to stay away from everyone he possibly could. He had grown up to be very anti-social but in the back of his mind he had every reason to be. Guilt had gotten the best of him and it wasn’t letting go.
His soft colored eyes narrowed as he gazed at his paws, pondering certain things to himself. He figured it would only be a matter of time before Dima found him- she always found him when he didn’t want to be found. A dull sigh passed his parted maw as he slowly rolled onto his back side and gazed up at the tree tops.
He missed her still. He did, he did.

Kibuulu was concerned because once again her brother had disappeared. He always returned home by the end of the day, but his disappearances were beginning to concern her. She had lost her mother (though she dealt with it relatively well), and now she did not want to lose her brother. It would hurt her if one day Adamu simply did not return. He was her brother, someone she loved and needed to take care of. Right now she needed to be beside him, needed to have his reassurances that he would never leave her.
It was a miracle she found him, and almost cautiously she wandered up to his side. She greeted him with a warm nuzzle, a soft purr rumbling in her chest as her trusting blue eyes rose to meet his own. "Do yah want me ter go, brothah?" Kibuulu did not want to push him, did not want to force him to hold her attention. If he wanted her gone, she would go, but she'd be upset about it. All that she wanted right now was her brother's happiness.
"I dun want ter go... but if you want me ter, I will. I love you, brothah."

“You can stay if you want to. By now she will find us anyway.”
Adamu spoke dully as his sister sat beside him and gave him a soft nuzzle and purr. He didn’t return her signs of affection, he never did. It wasn’t in him to do such things. He slowly rolled onto his side and with a dull yawn sat up beside her. At first he didn’t speak, he had nothing to say, but after awhile of sitting and saying nothing he grew tired of the dullness it brought and spoke out.
“I won’t call her mother, you know. That new female father wants to take care of us. I won’t. I don’t need anyone to take care of me.”
Just as he was about to stand up Dima appeared. She had followed the scent of Kibuulu. The cheetah gave both of the cubs a coy smile and came plumping herself down beside them. She was a very sweet soul and had been one of Adamu’s pals for a while. She was always around now days it seemed, just bugging the little prince every change she got. In a way she was mothering, in a way Adamu couldn’t see but his sister could. Dima just wanted to help.
“I found you two!”
She laughed and nuzzled Kibuulu slightly.
“So, why are we hiding in here anyway?”

Kibuluu did not expect her brother to return her nuzzle, and she did not care. As long as he accepted her love, she was content. If he let her love him, it meant that there was a part of him that loved her in return. She was comforted by knowing it was there, somewhere, a part of him forever.
"I know, Adamu. She'll never be our mother. She's our nanny, and I won't forget that. Our mother is our mother, that lioness is not." It was Kibuluu's logic coming into play, and though her words were truthful, in a way their nanny would replace their dead mother for Kibuluu. A new mother was the one thing that Kibuluu yearned for, though she would quickly give it all up for her brother.
Dima appeared, and quite honestly Kibuluu did not mind her sudden appearance. The juvenile giggled as Dima nuzzled her, blue eyes lighting up as she tipped her chin towards the sky to get a better look at the cheetah. Oh, Kibuluu could so easily see that Dima was taking care of Adamu, and that was one of the reasons Kibuluu liked her so much. Perhaps together they would heal the wound Adamu and Kibuluu's mother had left behind in him.
"We're not hiding; we're just staying out of sight!"

“Haha, same difference!”
Dima beamed and nuzzled her forehead along both cubs before sitting down. Her bright eyes shined with pride as she looked over the two. She adored them so much and was thankful to have found them when she did. She wasn’t trying to replace the nanny, if anything she was just a big cub herself, looking for adventure and excitement.
She sighed slightly at the nanny conversation and spoke.
“You know, at least she is trying? She could have just been rude and walked away without a thought. I think its nice seeing someone that actually cares, trying to bond with you two. You’re not the easiest cubs to deal with after all.”
She snickered and bit her tongue softly with a rather sly look.
“And you know it's true~”
“Eh..”
Adamu sighed and wiggled himself up some. He gazed at his sister and then to Dima and spoke.
“Why does it matter anyway? Do we really need a female figure in our life? My sister and MYSELF don’t need anyone.”
