The silver huntress moved with fluid beauty, and though she had left the night far behind her, she took delight in the warm, spring sunshine that bathed her dappled back. It warmed her spirit and somehow she knew that things would get better.
The meeting with that strange-furred male had truly brightened her spirits and there was a spring in her step that hadn't been there before.
She wound through the pine trees, inhaling their deep scent and paused to sniff at the gaping mouth of a rabbit warren. To her dissapointment the scents were old which meant that the residents were either long gone, or dead. In fact as she pushed her nose deeper inside she was sure it hadn't been used in a very long while.
Shaking the soil from her fur, the young female stretched and padded softly from the naturally made path. Here the first of the flowers were open, their little heads bobbing in the breeze.
So beautiful it is here. She whispered, twitched both ears forwards. For though one ear was terribly torn, it was not damaged to the extent that she was deaf in it.
Then again she was off, moving quietly across the ground, towards the sound of a waterfall rumbling not too far away. In fact she would have been silent if it were not for the bell ringing at her throat.

Kamali stepped carefully over the rocks, eyes dancing along the stream created from the waterfall. He was pretty far downstream from the actual water fall, where a slim line of rocks seemed to span across the river. It connected the two sides of the woods and it was a good spot to look for fish. He was hungry but not really ready to stick his paws in the icey water, spring was coming soon and the waters would be a lovely temperature. For now? They remained icey like the winter just before.
"Ah!" He breathed out, eyes landing on a pretty large fish a few feet ahead. It was swimming against the current, every now and then dropping back a few paces and swimming in circles, looking for food. "Tasty!" Kamali said out loud, grinning as he got into position.
It wasn't a very long weight before he lunged forward, face and upper body plunging dangerously into the stream. In one swift motion he'd brought his head back out and flung his quarry to the side. In a spray of the sparkling water the fat fish landed with a smack against the ground and started to flop madly about, trying to get back to it's beloved water.
Kamali moved along the rocks swiftly, his upper half soaking wet, and when he got to his prize he hit it hard with a paw. Finally, it stilled. "Hmm?" He said, looking up from his soon to be meal. He took a deep breath and his eyes narrowed slightly. "Stranger.." He breathed, eyes darting about the trees. "Hello?" He called, his tone friendly but at the same time very guarded.

As she broke from the cover of the trees, the stream lay stretched out before her, babbling cheerfully at her arrival. Her eyes seemed to soak up the splendour of it all, the green of the fresh spring grass that contrasted greatly with the blue of the water. Every now and then a rock jutted up from it's surface, breaking it into a froth that was dragged further down with the current.
She pushed out her chest and raised her head, eyes closing as she absorbed the heat on her muzzle. She had a beautiful profile, her sleek muzzle shaped with a proud and dignified slope.
Yet it was only when she heard the splashing that she realised she was not alone. Her head swung sharply to the left and both ears came forwards to focus upon another not too far away.
He seemed to be doing something in the water, some sort of strange dance. Then suddenly his head darted beneath the surface and in the next moment a fish was sailing through the air in a glittering cascade of droplets.
A fisher wolf!
Her maw twitched up in a slight smile to regard his mossy form and there was a hint of admiration in those gold-orange eyes.
It was only when he raised his head and called out that she realised she had been staring in a most rude fashion. Instead she turned fully to face the male and trotted forwards, head kept parrallel with her shoulders and tail wagging slowly. It was clear she meant no harm.
Greetings, wolfkin. She replied, I apologise for spying, but I must say I have never seen a wolf hunt fish with such skill. She bowed her head, for though she did not know of his rank, she repsected him already. I am Tainn. And as she raised her head to look at him there was a wisdom in them that made her seem suddenly old.

His head tilted as he watched her curiously, eyes moving over her fur, lingering on the bell around her neck. He then let his gaze meet hers, nodding his head in response. His grin was slightly lopsided and something about it hinted at embaressment, rarely did he get complimented on his fishing. "Thank you.. It was bound to happen after doing it all of my life." His tail gave a few wags as she introduced herself.
"A pleasure, I am Kamali and you have stumbled into the Airavata pack lands." He didn't seem upset about this, no he was actually quite pleased. He was in the mood for social interaction again, and this oppertunety presented it.

He seemed a friendly sort, not the kind of wolf to be feared. In fact the friendly look on his face relaxed her posture and her tail continued to wag gently behind her. There was a rather serene look about her, something that spoke of gentleness and warmth.
The pleasure is all mine Kamali. She replied, I don't think I have ever been succesful at catching a fish before. Give me a nice stampeding deer over a slippery fish anyday. She beamed, her eyes sparkling in the sunlight.
Her head tilted then, curiously. Airavata pack? Her good ear flicked backwards and her face seemed to reflect deep thinking. Forgive me if I was trespassing, I have not been on my own for so long before and the ways of a lone are new to me. Then as an afterthought she added hesitantly, Tell me Kamali. What is this pack like? Could this have been what she was searching for all along?

He glanced away to hide the look on his face when she mentioned 'deer', he couldn't stomach animals like that but it shouldn't be a reason for him to frown on another's way of hunting. He turned back to her and chuckled hesitantly. "I have not hunted a dear since I was a youngster... I think." As in, younger than he was now but old enough to hunt. Blood did not agree with Kam, and fishe's blood seemed.. less some how.
"No, it is alright. We do not proscecute those who wander there lands. I was merely informing you of you where-abouts." He slowly sat, seeming to think over her questions. "Oh? Hmm." He and Ashe had not figured out a lot of the pack logistics but he did know a little. "Well, it is a peaceful pack mainly for wanderers coming in and out. A place for protection... an asylum of sorts." His tail wrapped around his slim paws as he thought a little more. "Our main 'camp' is held behind the waterfall, in a system of caves."

Her ears tipped forwards with clear interest as she spoke. There was something that she found fascinating about packs that were created entirely from wolves. Never before had she been around so many of her own kind. She was used to being in a pack of humans, set to protect them from danger and provide for them when they grew hungry.
Were wolves similar in their rankings? She had a feeling they were not so different. Wolves were territorial, loving and protective, just as humans were. They were family bound not by blood but by loyalty.
She craved to be in a pack again, to be depended on and useful. As a lone she was useless, not good for anything except trespassing and spooking deer.
It sounds perfect. She replied, sitting back on her haunches. I have been searching for a place to call my own ever since my own pack...fell apart. Yet I have found nothing that can still my paws and keep my heart. She paused and turned to gaze up stream, ears focusing on the distant sound of the waterfall. Again there was a wisdom in her eyes and as she imagined the labyrinth of caves, curtained by a wall of water, she felt her heart grow attached.
Kamali. She turned to him again, This may sound rushed, but...would you be so kind as to lead me to your alpha? I think...I think my heart desires to stay. She smiled, Don't ask me how I know that this is the place...I just do. I feel it.

It was refreshing to see such passion and a wolf so sure of herself! He knew very much what it was like to have a pack fall apart on you. Or to be torn away from the ones you love and care about. This was his third chance, his last chance as far as he was concerned. He wanted to make things right!
He laughed right out when she asked to see the alpha, all in good spirit of corse. "I guess I do not make a very good image of an alpha... hmm?" He winked to her and stood, stretching. "But I am one.. these are my lands. The lands I have sworn to protect from now on... and.. and as long as you prove yourself worthy around these parts you are free to stay, to be a part of the pack!" he smiled kindly at her.

To heal her heart, she had decided, she would have to begin anew, with new friends to protect. For whilst she had failed in her duties as Guardian in her old pack, she would not fail again. For as this was Kamali's chance to make things right, it was hers also. For in her she held a secret, a secret that she was scared to share. She knew that the word 'man' filled the wild wolf heart with fear and anger. And though she couldn't blamer her kin for that she was saddened by it. For whilst there were good and bad wolves, there were good and bad people too.
Kamali's laugh took her by surprise and at the words that followed she dipped her head and ears sheepishly, pawing apologetically at the ground.
Oh! She smiled to hide the embarrasment, I do apologise Kamali. My inexperience makes folly of myself. Her tail wagged again, But truly, you are worthy of the title Alpha for being so dedicated, so welcoming. She bowed her head deeply before continuing. Please, I'd like to know more. She stood then and moved to dip her forepaws into the stream. What are our numbers and what is the name of your mate? If you don't mind me asking... She wished to know everything, that much was clear.

He just grinned and watched her, not upset or anything. He was amused by her amusement, but not in a harsh or rude manner. It was more like a friendly amusements, mostly because he could see himself doing the same thing as the she-wold known as Tainn. He followed her to the stream and hopped onto one of the rocks with water running gently past it, sitting his boney frame down.
"Right now we are few, about four including you and the alphess." He paused when she asked the next question. "Mone..." He cut off and just sort of stared, eyes wide. He shook his head to shake the thought away and coughed. "Well. Ashe is the.. alphess." He said slowly, but he had never actually asked him and he didn't even think it was assumed that they were mates yet. But every day came and Kam relied more and more on the dark female.

A small group, yes...that's nice. And she was clearly pleased about this. She turned to the male and nodded eagerly, moving through the water with a bouncy trot. She was a large wolf, built sleek but powerful having been raised by humans. There was no sign of weakness in her body and there was a sharp glint in her eyes that made her seem cunning - but not in a negative way.
A small pack would suit me perfectly. She continued, I want to make a family, know them as well as I would know brothers and sisters. Forgive me Kamali, is it okay to think this? She craved to be amongst her own kind, to call these fellow wolfkin a part of her family.
She smiled at the name of the alphess and drew her head up a little. I would be honoured to meet with Ashe, and the others. There was almost a puppy-ish excitment in her being now, spelling out her joy clearly.
And pups. Are there pups? To see a 'little wolf' was something she desired beyond all else. She had long given in to the fact that she would probably never have a litter of her own, especially as she was not an alpha, and yet she held a motherly instinct that made her a great carer. She remembered the furless babies born in the village, remembered as they tugged her fur and curled up at her stomach when it was cold. She had washed them and protected them as if they were little wolves but nothing, nothing filled her dreams more than big-earred, shiny-eyed puppies.
