It was a crisp morning at the Liberty Center, and Calder was enjoying a stroll through the complex, meandering through the buildings as well as around them, careless as the flow of a stream, and about as cheerful. He wasn't brave enough to wander to the gardens or the laboratories, only partly from the fact that they were about a mile away, an aversion to its overseer set into his head. What kind of proper woman didn't like children? It just made no sense to the sidhe. None at all.
It was certainly a pleasant day, as the morning gave way to afternoon, and Calder had picked up a book, eager enough to get accustomed to the grounds where he'd be teaching. From what he'd heard, there'd be some new guardians like himself filing through in the next few days. Getting papers and the like.
He smiled as he thought back on the cabbage that sat so serenely in his apartment, soaking up the sunrays in its little pot--little was hardly the way to describe the planter that now took up the majority of the tiny bedroom's floorspace--and soon to open to reveal the little cabbage child he'd be guardian to.

Erimentha hadn't planned on getting a child so soon, but as soon as her mother heard of her desire, Arch had been out and about, rushing to find a place which would deliver unto her daughter what was desired. Eri'd forgotten she should keep such wishes to herself until she was prepared for them to rise to fruition. Ah well. No matter. She was here now, preparing to be prepared to be a parent.
The grounds themselves were quite impressive-- a bit daunting for the girl, truth be told. It wasn't often Eri received the opportunity to wander on her own; thus to be in such a large, strange environment presented a glorious, terrifying moment.
Spotting a stranger, Eri smiled slightly at him, debating whether or not to approach. It wasn't customary to speak to a stranger, but then, as Arch had explained, in situations where individuals shared a bond-- in this case, future children who would undoubtedly get to know each other through this place-- it was perfectly acceptable to try to speak...
Moving slowly towards Calder, Eri summoned her courage and voice for a moment. "Hi there," she murmured.

Calder finished the sentence he was on before raising his tri-colored eyes and smiling up at the woman who was approaching him. He stood, and looked her over curiously before meeting her gaze. Granted, he had to look down to look at her face, towering almost a full foot above her. "Good afternoon. First time to the Liberty Center, I presume?" She certainly seemed a little intimidated by the massive grounds, or maybe a little intimidated by him.
"My name is Calder Quiole... But please, just call me Calder. I'll be the resident English teacher once the children are of age." He offered his hand, along with a bright, friendly smile.

((I wanna ARPEE!!!))
The tall, thin man stood at the cusp of the tiny gathering of the guardians, watching as two of the newest members got to know one another. Meetings were important, he knew this, but he was not prone to making good first impressions. Rather, Asher had the tendency to make no impression at all and practically locked himself inside his rooms whenever the opportunity to "meet and greet" arose. He was uncomfortable and damn it all, Dr. Akari knew it! But she arrived that morning, effectively kicking him out of his room and forced him to promise to "play nice with the other children". It was demeaning, that's what it was.
And now Asher stood, hovering uncertainly a few meters away and did not know what to do. He stuck a foot out, shifted his weight- and took a step back as one of the gardeners brushed past him. Asher flattened himself against the stone gateway, and started to breathe quite hard. He couldn't do it. He simply could not make the first step to actually being a social member. Asher, the man who could make some of the most beautiful pottery, the same man who had boldly stated that he would be the best guardian of the land- just could not work up the courage to say a simple "hello".
"Blast."

Estelle peered around the corner of the building, cradling a basket of assorted pastries to her side. The cabbage that had dominated her side garden had had a small note attached, and from what she could gather, this was where it led. Noticing the group of people, she relaxed a bit, starting to glide towards them. Having already set the vigils going she was free to dress as a civilian, though she instead wore a white sundress, lighter than her uniform, with a red sash bound around the waist.
"Excuse me," she said as she approached the group, "Is this the Liberty Center?" Her accent showed through on the last word, betraying how nervous she was. If this was the wrong placed then she would look like a fool, but that was another thing entirely. None of these people looked like gardeners, so what was that monstrous vegetable from?

Calder's attention was distracted from Erimentha by the vivid red sash, and he glanced up, smiling equally brightly towards the woman in the white dress, holding her basket of pastries. Oh, he loved pastries!
"Yes, it is," he said, glancing back towards the buildings and spotting Asher out the corner of his vision. He didn't pay the other man any mind, though. "I take it you're one of the new guardians, hmm? Here for your paperwork?" As he spoke, the faster his words became and the more of his own accent slipped through.

So many people at once! Eri's eyes darted about nervously as she attempted to murmur a greeting to the two newcomers while committing Calder's name to memory. If he was to be the English teacher, then he would be someone whose path she would cross again, and that would mean she would need to know him, and these others...
The last, a woman like herself, seemed to be another new guardian, but the other... oh well. Who to speak to first? Eri couldn't make up her mind. Well, Calder had introduced himself, but now he was speaking with the other girl. Glancing over at the other newcomer, she gave Asher a smile. "Ah... hello there."

When Ahneta arrived, she naturally gravitated towards where all the people were: she was the social sort of woman. The only thing that surprised her, was that they were all in the library! Oh well...as needs must.
She needed to pick up her paperwork, but there was nothing wrong with being friendly...
Although most people tended to consider Ahneta a bit too friendly. She was certainly dressed revealingly enough, with her shirt cutting far too low for most women to be comfortable with, along with a skirt that showed off quite a bit of leg.
"Good afternoon!"
((Just as a prior warning...one could say that Ahneta is a very suitable sort of guardian for a siren sweatdrop ))

((er... Calder wasn't in a library sweatdrop They're all outside, just to let you know.))
Calder shot an apologetic smile at Erimentha, and by that time, yet another woman was approaching. Granted, he'd been around much more intimidating women than Ahneta, but it had been a while since he'd seen one so... Well, she seemed to be confident in her looks, that was sure. It wasn't in the sidhe's nature to blush, though, and he just smiled, meeting Ahneta's eyes, and greeting her cheerfully as well.
The fae certainly seemed to be bursting with good-nature and friendliness today. "Feasgar math," he offered in Gaelic, offering his hand to the first taker, and introduced himself once more. "My name's Calder."

If I stay, I will be ridiculed and mocked... but if I go, Dr.Akari will chop me in to tiny little bits and feed me to her piranhas-
Asher looked up at the sound of someone introducing themselves close by. It seemed as if this girl was actually addressing him, and Asher gulped.
"Ah, hello," Asher nervously fiddled with the buttons on his shirt sleeve, and let the silence loom above them, "ah, um, nice to make you acquaintance, Miss..."
Asher trailed off. His eyes darted around to the others who were making their way to this somewhat odd little gathering, and his eyes fell on the little tart who had sashayed her way in.
"Disgraceful," Asher muttered to himself.
((ha ha ha. Asher does not approve of the way your guardian dresses, Aletea!))

Lara peered around the corner of the Liberty Centre’s numerous blocks. The poor girl's nerves where simply driving her up the wall and she could hardly keep her head facing in the right direction. She was not as used to such an intimidation place as others might be.
Despite all the signs which seemed to be pasted on every wall, stuck on a post in the middle of every cross road, and generally were being held up by anything in anyplace. She had managed to find herself, slightly confused by what she believed to be a maze type layout. So far she had come across a hospital or sick bay, two playgrounds, - though she may have just found the same playground twice- and a baseball field.
Lara's expression turned into a frown as she once again circled her path. So many signs, hardly any maps. What was one to do?

((*twitch* Oh my. I somehow managed to misread 'liberty center' as 'library' center. That teaches me to not pay closer attention, I suppose..))
"Ahneta."
Seeing as how nobody had yet taken Calder's hand, Ahneta went ahead and did so herself. She took note of the people around, and felt her smirk widen as she saw the expression on one's face. While not hearing his comment, she didn't need to.
She wasn't the sort of person to be bothered when she offended people - rather, she just found it that much more amusing.
"And you all are...?"
This time she spoke to the others, since she only knew the name of one now.

People... "My name is Erimentha Morris," Eri murmured to Asher, though anyone standing near to them would've picked that up as well. He was asking, though so was this new person, though Eri wasn't... too many people. She wasn't used to so many people.
It wasn't so different than the dreamscape though, where everyone-- well, every dream, rather-- existed together...
Spotting Lara by the edge of the group, Eri tried to give her what she hoped was a friendly smile, but in Eri's mixed up mind of the moment, she could've been mistaken and be giving her a less than friendly smile. People...

Calder managed not to smile a little at the muttered comment, just barely in his hearing as the rest of the people started to chatter, creating quite the buzz. He just took in names as they were exchanged, and glanced around at everyone, trying to remember names and faces. It was all a little overwhelming, even for the outgoing sidhe.
Rather than butt into conversations, after shaking Ahneta's hand with a firm grip that wasn't overbearing, he stood back and listened, and watched these people and their mannerisms. Erimentha was shy, Ahneta was the opposite, Lara looked more than a little lost, Estelle searching for friendly faces, and Asher... Well, the man certainly didn't seem to be enjoying himself. He glanced over, sidling up towards the other male presence. "Seems we're outnumbered here, eh?" he said with a friendly tone, eyeing the mass of women compared to the duo of testosterone.

So much noise. Asher gritted his teeth, and nodded down to Miss Morris.
"Its a pleasure, Miss Morris. I am Asher Torstenn."
Asher gave a little bow, trying not to slight the young Miss but Asher was not aware of the ranks in this world.
The only other man in the area had made his way over to Asher, and Asher assumed that this man had heard his reply to Miss Morris.
"Quite," Asher took in the surrounding women, and sighed, "It used to be quiet."
Asher flipped his long ponytail over his shoulder and started to fiddle with the end of his white hair.
"It won't be long before they start making assumptions."
((Um... Asher is sort of... unused to PC-ness; he comes from a old fashioned world where he's a noble... so he is kind of an a**))
