Vidya had, more or less, gotten used to her new eyesight. It was fairly similar to her old eyesight, just without colour whatsoever outside of various auras. In the few days she kept herself as a hermit, she'd learned the different between living and inanimate from her strange, outline-only sight...which was rather helpful, as she wasn't too fond of walking into walls or tripping over something she thought was moving.
Thus, with somewhat of a grasp on her sight, she decided it was time to proudly show off her new form! Nobody but her family had seen it, after all. She had people to show; namely Tybalt and Levi. There were others too, but she wanted to show her closest friends first. After getting help from her mother on finding an outft that matched (though Enoh wasn't too fond of the fact Vidya wanted to tromp around in such clothing), the new teenager headed outside, to first and foremost visit her Captain. Despite what Mirendiel said, and despite the suspicions that she was feeling...it was habit to show something as interestingly new as growing to Tybalt. Hell, even in the heirarchy of friends he was the top of her list.
Well, that and she still wasn't sure where Levi lived.
The teen had every intention of going to Tybalt's house, but her travels led her elsewhere; mainly Barton Lake. A bit of an offshot, but she wasn't known for blindly following every path; she was however, known for taking detours. This was just another detour.
So, instead of heading to Tybalt's house, Vidya was crouching down at the side of the lake, hugging her knees to her chest with one arm while reaching out with the other to poke at the finally thawed water while trying to find her reflection in the water; a hard task to do without colour.
From a distance, it might have looked like Vidya wasn't wearing pants; her jacket came a few inches above her knees, and there was a bit of her iridescent skin shown before her boots. Odd.

Being outdoors at any point during the winter months was high up on the list of things Tybalt didn't enjoy; digging a hole in the hard-packed ground within the Barton Woods surpassed even that, he decided, but in this case, it was necessary. He had to get rid of the pile of bloody clothes he had woken up to days previous, after all. The smell had started leaking into the hallway, and the sight of them unnerved him besides. So, although he still hadn't recovered from the events that had spurred his sudden growth--and he still hadn't properly adjusted to that, either--he had no choice but to get rid of the evidence.
Burning was out, he had decided, on the off chance that some idiot would see the smoke and decide to call the fire department. Stuffing the clothes in a bag with some good-sized rocks and throwing it into the ocean had held some appeal--it seemed fitting, too--but he hurt too damn much, and he hadn't tried flying with his new-and-improved wings, so that was out too. That left the tried-and-true method of burying the evidence; armed with a shovel and a bottle of extra-strength Tylenol, he had set out far enough away from home to hopefully put him out of suspicion's way.
Three hours and a handful of pills later, he was finally done. Thoroughly exhausted, he dragged himself out of the woods and towards the lake. Despite the cold radiating from it, it was the shortest way home, and at that point he would have swam across the damn thing--if he had been able to swim at all--if it meant he'd be able to get back to sleep that much quicker.
The irritating noise of the shovel's tip dragging along the cold, hard ground might very well have been the only thing keeping him from sleepwalking. He wasn't paying much attention to his surroundings, so focused was he on the prospect of home and warmth and bed, and he didn't know he was so close to the water until he stepped in it--literally. The cold shock brought him from almost-asleep to wide-awake too fast, and he yelped and staggered back a few steps, dropping the shovel in the process. Unfortunately for him, it fell into the water, and the resulting splash chilled his unprotected feet even more.
"Bloody hell," he muttered, trying in vain to shake his feet dry.

Vidya hadn't been paying attention to the sounds around her, but when someone came tromping through and touched the water, she definately noticed. Jolting as if shocked, she pulled her hand back from the water just in time to hear a yelp. Looking around, she searched the area for anyone who might've made the noise; it took her a few times, but she spotted someone - someone who looked suspiciously like Tybalt - a little way away from her.
Eyeing him with a distrust that lasted all of three seconds, the tale stood up, calmly dusting off her jacket, then her bare knees...and headed over towards him. She was pretty sure he was Tybalt...just...older. Which was cool! He sounded different, his shape was kind of different, but the same...and she couldn't tell if he still had all his pretty colours or not, but she figured it was safe to assume he did as long as he had those wings and that tail.
As much as she wanted to say something to him, she kind of wanted to see if he'd recognize her without her talking. Her family had said she had changed a lot, but she wasn't sure just how much; she din't know what iridescent skin looked like, after all! Besides, seeing her Captain's reaction would be fun, even without saying anything!
When she reached him, she gave him a thin, almost shy smile before kneeling down, reaching out with her right hand to lightly touch the talon she recognized to have the most water on it. Hoping he wouldn't react violently, she traced her hand down the front of the scaley foot.
Like it had when they last met, the majority of the water rushed from his talon to collect in the palm of her hand.

Tybalt was no longer too tired to be aware, and he stopped his useless attempts to get his feet dry as he heard someone approach. His wings flared--instinctively, defensively, and painfully--as he turned towards the figure, and his hand immediately closed on the hilt of a dagger that wasn't there. That, too, was instinct, one he would have to work himself against until he could touch the knife again without feeling disgust and the barest hint of guilty pride.
It seemed he wouldn't need the weapon anyway; this newcomer looked harmless enough. Disturbingly familiar, too. He returned the girl's smile with a frown and tensed as she knelt before him. His foot twitched when she touched it, the talons of the other digging into the ground in agitation, and again as she drew the water from it.
That, too, was familiar. Curious, he reached down to grip her chin, tilting her head up towards him. The skin and hair colors were different, but the eyes, the little wings, the power...that was the same. The pendant around her neck was the same, too, he noticed, and his grip loosened.
"An' when were ye plannin' on tellin' me about this little development?" His voice was quiet, and he was still hoarse, but there was no malice in his tone.

Vidya had been about to move her hand to the other talon when he gripped her chin, and the sudden touch startled her. She couldn't help the little glare that accompanied the startle, but it faded quickly once she realized he recognized her...sort of.
Her fingers slid down his other taloned foot once his grip loosened, gathering up the remaining drops of water between her pale bluish hands. Holding her hands together as if she were praying, she gave him a bright, eyeless smile. "Just as soon as you recognized me.." Opening her eyes again, she moved to her feet and tossed the water that had been on his talons to where it belonged; the lake. Part of her mind added his comment into her list of suspicions, filing it secretly away for future use.
"Look, Captain! I grew!"" She said as if it were completely new and unexpected, holding her arms out at her sides regardless of the fact it would've been hard to tell her shape from the lumpy winter jacket. At least she'd grown taller aside from her obvious colour changes...and her shins to just above her knees, regardless of the fact it also looked like she wasn't wearing pants. Letting her arms drop to her sides, she eyed his shape as best as she could. "And it looks like you grew, too! You're still taller, pah." Apparently, she was still the same old Vidya. After a moment of silence, a grin formed on her lips.
"An' when were you planning on telling me about this little development?" She couldn't help it, she just HAD to use his own line against him. It just had to be done. Part of her may have enjoyed the opportunity a bit too much, though.

"I noticed," he said, withdrawing his hand as she stood and crossing his arms over his chest. "But not much, aside from color," he teased, looking her over. He took his inspection further, walking a slow, even circle around her and eyeing her with an almost wary appreciation. She had changed on the outside...but not where it mattered, it seemed. Th' more things change, he thought to himself, shaking his head and smiling.
Her retort startled a chuckle out of him as he completed his circuit around her. "I wasn't," he admitted, "I was plannin' on surprisin' ye with it...but certainly not here. I gotta ask, Vid, what're ye doin' out here in th' cold? Without pants, no less!"

"I changed plenty." Vidya huffed out, staying obediantly still while he wandered around her. "You just can't see it because of the poofy coat!" Of course, as she spoke she was patting her hands down her own sides. When he completed his inspection circle, her pupilless, silver eyes moved to meet his. Well, at least staring him directly in the face was a somewhat new level of boldness from her?
"Oh. Well then...surprise?" The girl threw her arms into the air rather lazily, but that was mainly because he'd moved on to ask her a question. "I was on my way to see you!" She informed him with another almost shy smile. "I'm wearing pants! You just can't see it because of the poofy coat!" She parroted herself from moments ago, but this time she moved to lift the bottom of her jacket to prove it...only to change her mind and retract her hands with a shrug. "See? I'm a good girl. I brave the cold for you, and I clean off you feet." As she spoke this, she wandered around him, inspecting him like he no doubt inspected her.
"You look so..." She paused, trying to find the word she was looking for. "....Cool...Yeah....You look so cool." It wasn't her first choice in words, but it was the one that seemed the most safe. What she found she really wanted to say slightly confused her. She stopped and stood infront of him once more, once her walk was completed.

"Well, bein' as it's so cold out, I won't ask fer proof." Charitable, for the moment, content with friendship and pleasantly almost-numb, the medicine kicking in. It was strange, looking into her eyes--too much space, he thought, nowhere to properly focus. Pretty color, though.
He spread his wings obligingly as she began to mimic his inspection, unfurling them as much as the barely-suppressed pain would allow; he would probably regret even that later, but "vanity" was high up on his list of committed sins. Tybalt turned his head as she walked, always keeping an eye upon her. "Consider me--an' me feet--grateful." More of a thank-you than most people could have claimed to recieve from Tybalt.
"Cool," he repeated, the slang making him sound odd to himself. "Course I do!" he admitted easily, all but preening over the compliment. "Don't I always?" A wide smile and a wink accompanied the rhetorical question, and he peered closer. He could still see traces of the old Vidya beneath this new skin; it was reassuring. "You look...rather cool yerself."

"How nice of you." Vidya chuckled out before she went through her inspection of him. Once she had finished her rounds and was once more standing in front of him, she reached out with a pale blue hand to lightly touch the wing closest to her. She always did like the feel of his feathers.
"You're welcome." She chimed with a smile, clearly taking that as the thank-you it was meant to be coming from him. Her gaze returned to his once he repeated her little word. "Well...yeah, you do but...Its better somehow, I guess..." Her words tapered off into mildly uncomfortable quietness. Of course, she realized shortly after that it had been a rhetorical question; and her answer made her feel silly.
"Ah...Thank you!" She said shortly, considering mirroring his words once more, but decideding against it at the last moment. Looking away from him, she reached up with her right hand to thread her fingers through her hair, pushing stray locks of it behind her pointed ear and behind her shoulder.
"Mmm...Its cold out." A shiver caused her to change the topic, not that it wasn't wanted. She loved to dish out compliments, but she was rather shy about receiving them. "Can we go somewhere warmer now, Captain?" Now she returned her gaze to his, her right hand still hovering around her shoulder and her left hand buried in her coat pocket.

Tybalt's smile became fixed and terse as Vidya touched his wing, and he indulged her for only a brief moment before he pulled the appendage away, settling both of them as carefully as he could against his back. Harmless, he told himself, she's harmless.
"Aye, I 'spose it is a bit chilly out," he agreed, very close to freezing his tailfeathers off and not willing to admit it. "D'ye have a location in mind?" he asked, hesitating before offering her his arm, a not-unexpected wave of deja vu passing over him.

Vidya's fingers retracted when his wing did, and the girl gave him a rather curious stare, but only for a moment. He never really did like people touching him, did he? That had to have been the reason. It made the most sense after all. Pretending as though she didn't care that he'd pulled away from her, she looked around.
"Well...I was heading to your house..." She mused, tapping her lips for a moment. "We could go there? Or maybe to my house...or...even a coffee shop or something." Her suggestions came out with a tone of voice that was only a little on the annoyed side. She was getting cold, damnit! "But its entirely up to you, Captain!" Strangely enough, the hint of annoyance in her voice had all but vanished as she spoke this, reaching out to slide her hand onto the croof of the offered arm.
Deja-vu indeed!

Coffee...coffee sounded good. No less than perfect for this kind of weather, even if the drink itself was almost too bitter for him to stomach. It was mostly the concept of warmth that held any amount of appeal anyway. "Aye, I know just th' place," Tybalt said decisively, starting to lead them away from the lake, back the way they came--
--and then his foot hit the fallen shovel, and he paused. What would he do with that? It had to be returned--no one used it, but he couldn't leave any kind of evidence out in the open--and home was too far out of the way. With a tight frown and a swift shake of his head, he pushed the tool deeper into the water, getting his foot wet all over again. He mentally marked the location in his head so he could come back for it later.
Spring, maybe, when the water wasn't ice cold.
"C'mon, then, off we go. Hope y'like sweets," he continued, steering them towards the path that led back into town.

"Oh, yay!" Vidya commented absently, though her mind was focused elsewhere; what would've happened if he'd wanted her to pick the spot? She was still getting used to this eyesight of hers, it was even hard to tell where her own bedroom was! At least this way, she could follow him without much of a fuss. Which meant she was safe, for now. Letting Tybalt know she was almost completely blind was the last thing she wanted to do.
When his foot hit the shovel, Vidya glanced down. For whatever reason he'd brought that with him, and now...he was trying to hide it? "I...don't know what you did to need that shovel, Cap'n, but if you'd like I could put it deeper in the lake?" She offered, her hands sliding from their position behind her back. "I could get it back out too, when you wanted." Her proposed idea was an innocent sounding one, just being kind enough to offer.
"---And if you have to hope I like sweets, you don't know me very well!" She teased, waggling her finger in a tsking motion, though she hesitated following after him until she had permission to put the shovel in deeper or not.

Irritation, nervousness, and the faintest bit of anger coiled within Tybalt's gut at Vidya's inevitable notice of the shovel. He hoped her perpetual curiosity didn't lead her to ask the obvious question of just what the shovel was for and mentally scrambled for an answer just in case; luckily, the obvious turned into the unexpected and he breathed a quiet sigh of relief.
"Aye, put it in, then," he said after a moment of thought, his forcibly nonchalant tone completely at odds with tension in his shoulders, in the defensive position his wings had arranged themselves into. "Best t' leave it in there, for th' meantime...quicklike, now; this cold ain't doin' either of us any good."
Tybalt took a step away from Vidya in order to let her do whatever it was that allowed her to work her magic--he had seen it before, but not on this sort of scale. "Ah, but there're sweets an' then there're sweets. What I've got in mind's more th' latter than th' former," he said, the segue out of the dangerous realm of unwanted questions causing his falsely casual tone to become that much more genuine.

"Okay!" Vidya keened out happily when he allowed her to hide the shovel better, then started rolling up her sleeves, ignoring Tybalt to instead hum a happy tune. When Vidya reached into the cold water, she was expecting her hands to start burning with the inevitable freeze they'd undergo but...she was surprised to find that the water's temperature didn't affect her hands. At all. Ignoring this for now (lest she dwell on it too much and it irriates Tybalt further), she searched blindly for the shovel, picking it up once she found it and pulling it out of the water.
For a moment, Vidya eyed the shovel. Secrets. This shovel had that strange aura about it, like someone who knew a bad secret but would never be able to tell. Idly, her pupilless eyes shifted to Tybalt, so close to asking what he needed the shovel for...however, she knew better than to ask. Well, right now anyway. There was always a time and place for things like this when around Tybalt. Mentally shaking her head, she gripped the shovel in one hand, holding the other out as if she were about to throw a spear.
Then, as easily as tossing a shovel in the lake....Vidya tossed the shovel in the lake.
A thin, almost dry chuckle escaped her lips at how simple hiding the shovel really was. After looking over her shoulder and winking at him for being silly, she turned back towards the water and lifted her hands out infront of her, palms up. Muttering something under her breath, a spot of the water changed to take on a form similar to a horned serpent. The water-serpent first reared up its fairly see-through head, then dove down over the spot where the shovel was still barely floating, forcibly dragging it down to the depths faster than it would have normally. "That should hold it under the water, in the same spot, until you need it back. Unfortunately...you'll need me to get it." What she didn't tell him of course, was that until he wanted the shovel back she couldn't send the serpent away; it was a continuous holding magic.
"Sweets...as long as theres sugar in it, yes please..." She purred out happily once she turned back to her Captain for the final time. Somehow, she looked tired, but only slightly. With a little smile, she set to rolling down her sleeves down her still wet hands. "Lead the way, Cap'n!"
