OK, we will be watching this tomorrow. Which was better the show or the book? Easy predicition will be the book. I just can't think how they will put all the stuff in the book in the one hour show. I lent my copy to a friend so I am not going to be able to reference.

The show was WAY different from the book but that's okay....they did a good job with it in my opinion....The book was good though....I like the way that they adapted it for television...there is just no way that they could have done it exactly like the book or else it would have had to been a movie....

They kept to the spirit of the of the book. Not bad. I think it would have given a lot more clarity to the series if they had run this episode first.

I agree.... it does give a little more background and you get a better understanding...still it was a good show and a good book!!

One hour (45 minutes or so with commercials) wouldn't have been sufficient to adapt the entire book. They had to excise the details to keep the time shorter. But as I said, I don't have my copy of the book right now, but was Bob in the book? I thought so, but I can't recall?

Teh resident Bob entusiast sayeth: Yes. It was Bob in the first book that made me wait for the others to come out.

And I think we all hope to see the introduction of the "Blue" Beetle. ^.^

As for the show as a whole...didn't really like it. I'm not sure if that's just the waiting-an-hour-and-still-no-Bob talking. I guess having read the book makes one ready for dissapointment on how simple they had to make this one (besides the fact we already knew who did it). It was probably a good show for non-book people.

My other problem with the episode: what they did to Victor's motivation, they 'purified' it in the eyes of some viewers because he was going after people he thought murdered his daughter. I wanted to see Evil-Victor, and I'm becoming wary of the TV show trying to make everybody the good-guys, or at least less-evil bad guys. (Bianca, anyone?)
The nice thing about the DF is that there are people like TV-Victor, but there are also people like book-Victor. Having read the books I'm getting TV-Victor's where I'm expecting book-Victors and as such am suffering a chronic under-dose of evil. >.<

...and there's always the lack of Bob. It all comes back to the lack of Bob. The next previews have him in it though, so there is hope!

Thanks for the Bob info! I have to get my book back. If it continues, they will have to get farther into the "dark side." They will have to show the dark intention rather than the dark mistake.

I just struck me that the whole "dark side" thing is a little Star Wars, but I am sure you get my drift.

Living outside Chicago, I would love to see the dramatization of the Sue coming to life. That would be totally cool!

I agree with the dark side thing, and well, Butcher went there first! (Proven Guilty: the 'Jedi mind trick' against some spare cop' ^^)

I would .love. to see the dramatization of Necro-Sue. As well as how Terrance Mann does Necro-Bob. ^.^

It was okay.

I would LOVE to see Sue brought to life... er, no pun intended. I meant in the TV sense...

I wish they'd kept their original idea for that episode. I mean, when they filmed the feature length version - it was originally a full-length pilot episode, but they cut it and shoved it to episode 6 or 7 (or wherever it ended up - I lose count!).
If they had kept it as the pilot, and kept it full length, it would have been a really good pilot and I don't think as much would have been missed from the book...

Although that said, I still liked it though!

The show was alright, and I like how they tied in the book for the show. The only problem is, everything went right back to how it was before- all the improvements- Susan, Mister, (albeit a different color) and his apartment was more correct- were gone.

It was depressing.

And it was also confusing on how in the last episode, Morgan and Harry were getting on alright, and the next thing you know, Morgan has a sword to Harry's throat. Confusing, especially for non-readers.
