I started thinking about these things when planning a fic... and they're pretty important to the fic itself.
1.) Does Maya live in the Kurain village, then comes when Phoenix needs her?
2.) Were there any others living in the Kurain village at the time of Case 2 of JFA? Besides Morgan, Pearl, and Maya, I mean.
3.) Is Maya allowed to live anywhere out of the Kurain village?

During the first game Maya is not living in Kurain Village. It never states where she is living, but one can assume it's probably a small apartment or something. But we do know that she is living by herself throughout PW 1.
In the second game, Maya is living in Kurain Village to practice her medium training. I'm not sure whether there were other people in Kurain Village, but I would assume so since Morgan, Pearl, and Maya aren't the only spirit mediums.

She was living by herself in the first game but living in the village for training in the second game...I'd guess she's allowed to live wherever, since as far as I know she was never FORCED to be a spirit medium in the first place...I think..? But if you leave for 20 years you're considered dead...
And there are lots of other people living in the village, because while Maya and Pearls were at the trial one of the days Morgan had to stay in the village to watch over the trainees...plus the men who work outside the village (and live outside it?).
