It was late afternoon on a beautiful day, and Mafuriko had snuck away from his family's den. His mother and sister had snuck away to do something, leaving all the boys alone, and Mafuriko decided he should go off and do something himself as well. He had to make some fun for himself once he'd gotten away, and so the cub went along, crouched low to the ground, hunting for someone to play with. Without experience of any form in hunting, really, Mafuriko was quite obvious as he jogged along and hummed quietly.

Mjrn wasn’t looking for her sisters and brothers- no not today. Today she was looking for adventure! Her mother had told her to stay close to the family many times before but every time she was asked not to wander off... she wanted to more and more. To rebel against her mother’s rules- that was a game to the little cub, the best game of them all in fact!
Her green eyes, both full of life and energy snapped opened as she wiggled her way through the tall grasses of the Pride Lands. She was nothing like her siblings, color wise. She was the only one with her colors… and so she felt very special and unique. She wasn’t green or yellow based like mother and father.
Slowly she stopped and smiled as the form of another came into view. Something about this other cub made her giggle madly to herself. He was humming! It sounded nice from where she was. Slowly she let herself down closer to the earth and with a soft purr gazed at him from her hiding place.
At first she didn’t move, no... she was stalking her target but after he moved a nit closer to her she jumped and attacked! Her front paws landed onto his back side as she wiggled at him and giggled playfully pulling him to the ground rather forcefully. She didn’t use her claws though; she didn’t want to hurt him.
She just wanted to play!
“I got you!”
She squeaked.

Mafuriko had no idea he'd been spotted before he could spot someone first. He narrowed his eyes, looking from side to side in hopes of finding someone. Conveniently, he was looking in the direction opposite where Mjrn leapt out from. He let out a surprised yelp when a sudden blue-and-black figure popped into view and landed on top of him- there was nowhere to go but down, especially since he was already half way there.
"Hey!" he squeaked back, rolling over beneath her with great difficulty. He wanted to see whoever this was!

“Haha! I got you, I got you!”
Mjrn giggled with glee before moving her face closer to his. Her green eyes twinkled with joy as she stuck her tongue out at him and batted at his face.
“I win!”
She stated, as if they had been playing a game all along. She didn’t move from her spot on top of him yet- no- she was still too overwhelmed at the fact that she actually got him! This was a first for her; she was never the one on top when it came to games with her siblings.
“I’m Mjrn.”
She smiled before slowly rolling off of him.
“What’s your name?”

The little lion made a face at Mjrn when she moved closer, batted at him and announced that she had won. With a playful growl, he pulled a paw free and batted back at her nose- a little harder than most would play. He liked to play, but with three brothers it could get a bit rough- though that also meant he was used to not always coming out the 'winner.'
When she rolled away, he rolled in the opposite direction and quickly pounced over at her. He would get revenge, or at least continue whatever game she had initiated.
"Mafuriko," he introduced himself shortly as he leapt.

“Eeeep!”
She squeaked and rolled onto her side as he jumped at her. He was tricky! Her eyes shut tightly as she let a grin form across her maw. He was funny and his name was funny too. She couldn’t really pronounce it properly so she thought up a nick name for him.
“No fair ‘Riko, that’s cheating!”
She giggled and took a paw to his face and with a soft push rubbed her paw in his face for a moment, before pulling back and laughing.
She was talking to him and playing with him as if she had known him all of her cubhood.

Mjrn was a quick one, he had to admit. It wasn't very uncommon in cubs that had siblings, though he had no idea how many she had. His pounce was only mildly successful, and he ended up sliding off her side onto the a laying position on the ground.
"It's not cheating if you don't know the rules!" Mafuriko declared, sticking his nose in the air importantly- only to have it pawed at again. He inched back a bit and batted back at her paws defensively, laughing as well.

“Haha okay, okay, it’s a tie then, happy?”
She giggled and wiggled onto her paws again. He was fun! A lot better then her brothers she had to say, they always played so roughly with her, it hurt! Her green eyes narrowed softly as she sat herself down beside him and spoke with a questioning tone.
“You all alone? Or do you have a family here?”
She knew of a few cubs that were without mothers and father, so she wanted to make sure she knew his current status before asking any personal questions. She wanted to know if he had any siblings like she did. He sure played like he did.

"Noooo," he shook his head energetically, "I'll get you back in a tie-breaker." It was his turn to stick his tongue out at her. There seemed no question in his mind there would be another round to their game, despite that they were moved onto conversation now. Mafuriko was forced to look up to Mjrn as she sat beside him while he remained how he had landed after his pounce.
"I have a family, it's pretty big actually," he answered brightly. He loved his family a great deal, and was happy to have all of them around. "Do you?"

“My family is bigger!”
She stated with a large grin.
“I have ten siblings!”
She really did too, she wasn’t kidding. She often found it hard to belive. All together it was 12, but that was counting herself.
“Mm, I have never seen you before and you live here? Weird... Maybe I don’t get out enough. Mother always tells me to stay close to home after all..."
She was rambling to herself now, thinking about why they didn’t play together before if he really lived here. It was a big world she guessed, one that she someday wanted to explore.
“So then ‘Riko, what do you want to do next?”

"Wow!" he exclaimed when he was informed of just how many siblings she had, "I have four that are my age, and one more that's a lot bigger than us at least. But he doesn't live with us." Maybe his family wasn't the biggest, but it was still pretty big! He thought so anyway, it was more than his him and his parents.
"We live that-a-way," Riko announced, getting up and looking off in the direction he'd come from, "I think all mothers tell you to stay near home, but I'm not that far away- and they don't know I snuck away." He grinned at this, what they didn't know wouldn't hurt him. That they would figure out he was not there if they simply looked at the bunch that was still around obviously escaped him for the moment.
"I don't know," he answered, though he got to his feet and stumbled in an energetic circle, "What do you think?"

“Oh you did--so did I! haha, momma said that I had to stay close to her or my older brother because I could get hurt alone... but now I am not alone, you are here with me and she can’t get mad now~”
Mjrn chimed with a soft smile. He had a lot of siblings too! That was very neat to her, she loved big families, she loved being around her family when they all got together, everything was all smiles then.
“Well, we could go exploring... I know of a place that momma told me not to go- and we all know that the places mothers tell us not to go are always the most fun to explore!”

"It's hard to be alone around here," he declared loudly and matter-of-factly, "There are lots of lions around, and I thought I was alone when you showed up!" It was very true. He didn't see the dangers of being alone around here, you rarely we alone and with the usual cub-like naivety he never expected anything bad could happen.
His blue eyes brightened when Mjrn announced she knew a place they could explore, and it was a place her mother said not to go. She was right, those were always the best places!
"Where's that?" he demanded, nodding enthusiastically, "We could go there."

“She told me that this place is lined with bones and dead things and that going there is completely off limits.”
Mjrn moved herself a bit closer to her new partner in crime and spoke softly into his ear.
“She told me that this place was the most dangerous place, just a little ways away from the Pride border...”
Her tone dropped so that no one around could hear. She had to be careful when she spoke about this place now... NO one could know about this, not a soul.
“The Elephant Graveyard.”
As she spoke those final words her ears pinned backwards and her body moved a bit closer to his. Just saying the name sent cold chills down her spine.

Riko listened intently as Mjrn described what this place looked like, and he'd been sure he wanted to go when he heard her mother did not want them to go there, but now there was no doubt in his mind. It sounded like an awesome adventure! Much more interesting than wandering around this place all the time. He loved the Pridelands, but it was fun to explore too.
"Wow!" he squeaked through an attempt to keep quiet he understood why she needed to drop her voice so low, "My mother's never mentioned it before, which way do we go?" His voice was quiet, but Riko made no effort to be careful about his actions. He looked around them eagerly, wondering if he could see any hint of the land from here.
