Sunn O))) is probably the most recognized drone band in the metal culture. Founded by Stephen O'Malley their sound is extremely slow and heavy, using droning guitars accompanied by feedback and other sound effects to create their soundscapes. There is very little drumming and a lack of any discernible beat. When playing live the band wears long hooded cloaks.

THRILL SEEKER this band is way, way underrated. truely amazing music. I don't really see how they're underrated when they are the most popular drone band. Especially since a lot of people use the "O)))" thing a lot.

Gravechild6 THRILL SEEKER this band is way, way underrated. truely amazing music. I don't really see how they're underrated when they are the most popular drone band. Especially since a lot of people use the "O)))" thing a lot. I was going to say the same thing.

Especially since a lot of people use the "O)))" thing a lot. i don't mean underrated, in the "realm of doom metal" (for lack of a better term), but in the music industry period. i have three friends who are also fans, and we're all pretty devoted, but everyone else seems to think Sunn's music is total crap. my point was, Sunn O))) dosen't get the respect that they deserve, outside of just the doom metal genre.

Well, Drone for me is something that I like but, I for some reason don't listen to it a lot. I guess I just have to be in the right mood (even though there is drone for almost all moods). And I guess you could say that Sunn O))) are actually overrated. Edit: and the new album is good too.

I mean they are good but, they get more credit than they deserve. Hell, they even get more recognition than Earth.
