How does Gaia determine the order? I've been trying to figure this out for a long time now, but it seems to be totally random confused

they order it by time left usually.
And the time usually does difeer some seconds.

It looks at your search field, then order of submit, which might not be time left.
If player A lists AAA @ 2:00 for 12gp
and Player B lists AAA @ 2:01 for 10gp
and PLayer C lists AAA @ 2:02 for 12gp
it will look like this
PLAYER B
PLAYER A
PLAYER C

I think that if you set your search form to "Lowest Buy Price", and if there are two prices that are the same, it's determined by alphabetical order. Just a speculation, though.

It's determined by who put theirs in when. If there is already one item up for 1k and you put the same thing up for 1k, yours will appear after on the list, because yours was added last.
