I was going to call the comic "Ring Count" at first and considered a running gag where Sonic and Tails would count the rings they had every so often. But then I thought that the idea was stupid as well as the title so I changed it to Sonic Wankers, a sort of parody of Sonic Heroes if you hadn't already guessed.
I originally created the comic because I wanted to use the Sonic 3 style sprites I had laying around for something since I was kind of tired of using advance sprites all the time in my flagship sprite comic. Then I realized that if I was going to make this comic worth reading, I'd have to give it a great start. So I tried to think of an original yet funny idea and I thought of painting Sonic hot pink because I liked the idea of Sonic being pink and getting cheesed off because of it. Thus we have this charming first issue. Fun fact: I once mentioned in an AIM chatroom that I was toying with the idea of keeping Sonic pink through the entire run of the comic. Then someone started yelling at me about how that violates the rules of successful sprite comics and started quoting these so-called "rules" to me. I demanded to see the big official government sanctioned book of how to make sprite comics and he could not bring it fourth so I blew him off.
