If you were to do a suit of armor....like.... that, give me some advice for shading and I know since it's metal, it shines. And with me just now finding out I can make lightsaber blades that glow with PSP7...Shineing shouldn't be so hard if I knew the methiod.

hmmmm.....
*thinks*
Rule #1: Set up a light source direction (I know, I don't always follow this advice, but trust me...) (You could always use a pic as reference and work off of that...)
#2: Don't be afraid to go dark - really dark can bring out the highlights. Use the darker colours (black should be used sparingly if possible).
#3: Build up the colour gradually. Take your time. I usually work from a base mid-colour and add darks then lights.
#4: For texture: Play around! I would suggest trying out some sketchy lines and blending those outward to try to get a metallic look. Use the really light colours for shine, adding in small amounts of white for the brilliant parts.
#5: Post your progress! It's easiest (for me at least ninja ) to help out when I can see where you're going with the edit.
#6: Try using a reference picture to pick out your various colours and then play with them from there - changing the hues and values as you see fit.

My advice is to make the highlights really bright and alwyas obey your light source. Another thing to remember, which I didn't even realise until Vorty pointed it out to me, is that metal will refract ambient light. So while the light may be coming from the right, there will be a faint glow reflecting off the left, look at Iron Man's leg in that picture for the best reference. It's interesting how people have a hard time noticing these things. It took me years to realise that eyeballs always had light shining in them.

I read all what you said and went to work and studied a Dr. Pepper can for five straight minutes.....It's gonna take me longer then I thought if I want it to be perfect....for my standerds anyway.

Saga Good Luck Enishi. Remember to put the darks in first and then the higlights. wink .......eh? rolleyes I'm doing it one piece at a time then going back and improving on what a already made. -remembers beinging a 12 inch tall Epyon out of Lego's and lost pieces every time he worked on it- I got the upper torso done but it still needs more shineing. What sucks for me is I misjudged the lights on Paint Shop and I can't get shading so I have to do that aswell the hard way.

I dunno what you just said but my advice is always do each piece of clothing on a seperate layer. And I personally do my highlights and shadows on seperate layers as well so that if you screw somthignup it doesnt ruin what DOES look good.
