It was a quiet morning, as Ritanya watched the sunrise while sitting upon the roof. Typically she was not up this early... but something about today had beckoned her to rise to watch the new day dawn. Something about the promise that it brought with it stirred within her the hopes she had first felt when she had arrived at Lunar Hope. It was upon this day that she hoped to feel alive and happy again.
The woman stepped off the roof, allowing herself the brief moment of free-fall before her wings spread forth, taking her airborne into the new born sun. She soared into the clouds, experiencing the wonderment of flight, and how she could have ignored the amazing sensation it brought to her. Of all her gifts, this one, seeming so simple, brought to her the most enjoyment.
For you see, Ritanya was no normal person, no normal woman. Her parents were not human, or dragon, nor any flesh and blood creature. Her parents were a being of pure light and a being of pure darkness. In any other universe, she would not exist... her very nature destroying her before being born. Yet somehow, here she was, and her very existence defied the rules of the cosmos. In this sense, reality ignored her... and granted her the ability to ignore it. She could form anything, travel anywhere, go to other dimensions... for she was unique in this universe.
This uniqueness also meant that, deep within her soul, she was terribly, terribly alone at times. It was not a sense of being alone that arose to the surface often, but only within her dreams did these feelings truly come out.
There were other Apakohs, other Kolds, other Kylas, other Yamis... but only one Ritanya in the known universes.
But today, there was no sadness in her heart, for this morning held the promise of a new day, and she could feel the breeze upon her skin, the wind in her hair, and the comfort of knowing that she had good friends that stood by her, no matter what happened.

Ritanya floated amongst the clouds, glancing about. The wind had picked up, and rain now fell upon her and whipped about her. She could see the bright flashes of lightning that cascaded between the clouds, each flash illuminating the sky with a deadly beauty that she welcomed and admired. She could not help but think of others as she watched the play of lightning in the sky, holding out her hands and slowly spinning within the raid, smiling and laughing.
When she was alone, often her thoughts turned to Apakoh. It was hard to help it... the only problem is, she had no idea how to view Apakoh anymore. She knew she cared for her, she knew she loved her. What kind of love was it?
Apakoh watched out over her, taught her, and nurtured her. In this, Ritanya had come to love her as a guardian... a mother.
Apakoh had shared with her, and they had bonded close; particularly when she was on trial. In this, she saw someone who protected her in another way... a sister.
Apakoh had befriended her, as Apakoh was friendly to her immediately, never asking for anything in return. In this, Apakoh had been another first for her... a friend.
Apakoh was beautiful, and Ritanya had kissed her a single time, danced with her a single time. In these, she had come to see Apakoh in her beauty, a longing for her... as a lover.
Ritanya continued to float amongst the clouds as her mind pondered it all. Apakoh represented something that Ritanya had never truly had. She had no mother growing up, and no siblings. She held no true friends, only those that used her. She had no real lovers, only those who needed her for physical gratification. Apakoh represented just about everything Ritanya had lacked in her life.
The dark skinned woman gave pause as she pondered something. Did she truly want to be with Apakoh... or did she simply need Apakoh? She didn't like the where her mind wandered when she thought of her. She saw images of her as a friend, smiling... and other images, of her form, her body, her...
Ritanya sighed as she looked around, trying to clear her mind again. She closed her eyes, trying to meditate. Instead, all she could see was those eyes... all she could remember was the feel of her close to her, the feel of her lips. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she thought of it, then a softer one, sadder this time.
"Why?" she said softly, to no one in particular. Truly, she was alone up here, and even if she had shouted at the top of her lungs, there was no chance that the sound could be heard above the pouring rain and the crashing thunder.
"Why?"
Because, my child, we could not be there for you...
She heard the voice within her, and though she had never heard it before, it was the voice all creatures knew... that all creatures longed to her.
"M... mother?"

Ritanya floated amongst the clouds, the rain striking her bare skin, but she paid it no heed. Instead, she remain fixed upon the voice... a voice she had only heard in her dreams.
"M... mother? Is that you?"
It is child... and I have watched you all this time. I am so proud of you...
Ritanya began to shed tears that mixed with the rain that fell from the sky. She looked around, trying to see her mother.
Child, I live on the rays of light of the first sun... and flashes of light between the clouds in a storm. I am no longer alive...
Ritanya paused as she listened to her mother. "I... I have so many things I want to ask you... and someone I want you to meet..." she said, blushing slightly.
My beautiful daughter... the voice said, then began to fade as the storm passed. For just a moment, Ritanya felt something brush against her face, in a loving gesture...
"Mom..." she said in a hushed whisper, before flying away to Lunar Hope.

Justice had been asleep, lying curled up on the couch in the fassion he usualy did. He felt the presence of Ritanya draw near, and began to stir.
