I personally am a phan of the Meg/Erik relationship. At first, I didn't think it was plauseable, but then I got to thinking; Christine leaves in the end, neither Erik, nor Meg seem so have anyone else, Meg seems to be always in the background, forgotten, perhaps they could understand each other somehow? Well, I like the pairing, anyway.
What about all of you, what pairings do you like? Do you like this one, or are you strictly a Christine/Erik phan?
Please, no flames! crying Flames burn. xp

I know quite a few phans who are all for the Meg/Erik relationship. It is plausable, but only if you were going by the musical or even the movie.
The worst relationships I think there can be in fanfics/fanart is Erik and an original character. It's a little too dumb because the original character is always some helpless woman who can understand Erik and yadda yadda and that isn't what the story is for.
I'm not a strictly Christine/Erik phan because I don't read that many fanfics and the fanart I do really isn't romantic. That and a lot of E/C phics are overly-romantisized or just plain "never could happen" because the characters are often OOC.
Long story short, I'll read Meg/Erik Christine/Erik and even the occassional Mme. Giry/Erik (only seen one of those, but it was based on the book) whenever I feel like it. The worst and most useless of pairings are The Persian/Erik and Raoul/Erik. There are just some fanbases that yaoi should never touch.
I've also seen one fanfic that was based from Susan Kay's book that was a "what if.." kind of thing with the Khanum of Persia & Erik as a pairing. It was on Deviantart though and I didn't really read it, but it was a unique pairing.

I mean, that the heck?! rofl But, there is one phic I've read on deviant art called Solitude, and it's Erik/Other Woman. It actually quite good and I really enjoy reading it. It's about a girl named Roslind who was in the orchestra pit when the chandalier fell, and it disfiured the right side of her face, and she was forced into solitude just like Erik as. It's quite interestng. If you're interested in taking a look at it, here's the link to the prolouge: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/18928301/If that captured your interest, there should be a link to the next chapter in the discription. Haa haa, Erik/Raoul, I still can't get passed that! rofl But, I suppose some people enjoy it. heart heart heart ~Olivia~

Well, I prefer just curling up and not thinking of Erik doing any that.... I suppose it's because I have played too much Ravenloft, where the DM used a verson of Erik (a caliban named Erik Borsti), and damn, he was playing our resident bard/cleric insane, quite literally. crying She got tricked into killing all of us....

I support it ^_^.
I like it, for you have to think; Christine is happy with Raoul. I have read good fanfics where she actually isn't, but I don't like the ones where it is like..."liek, omg!11! she heart Erik not Roual the hole tiem@!!!1!"
...if there are any like that.
So Meg is a semi-important character, as Christine's friend. Yet she's always shoved into the backround, though she is pretty and has a good voice. Besides, she finds the mask at the end, and it does seem as though she's a bit fascinated by the Phantom mystery.

I'm not a fan of Erik/Meg relationship, because it couldn't really happen. In the Gaston Leroux novel, Erik dies after Christine leaves.
But I totally agree with you guys: The Erik/original woman phanfics are the worst.

Despite my screen name, I do not dislike romance. I simply dislike badly written romance. I don't want something sappy and over the top. Give me something a bit more subtle or subdued. I want something a bit more thoughtful, and everything doesn't always have to end happily ever after in a neat little package.
I think that the Erik/Meg romance can be okay. As a general rule though, I prefer canon romance.

I support the pairing (although I like Mme. Giry/Erik more, it makes more sense to me), but I always think of it as an unrequited love type of thing. Meg loves Erik, but Erik has no clue of her existence because she's a dancer, not a singer.

Perhaps Meg gets brave and travels into the underground lair? Or, perhaps the Phantom comes back in search of his mask... lol heart heart heart ~Olivia~

I'm open to just about anything but E/R or Madame Giry/Persian. Those two just freak me out. Or Erik/Carlotta, though once I found an amazingly written humor phic about that which I enjoyed..
I support E/M. While I agree that nothing could happen since Erik dies in the original novel, I think it's quite possible in some of the other versions.
