The bonesetter, as she was dubbed, was out and about again. Not quite on the prowl, but definately stalking the outskirts of the Graveyard.
Again.
She had been chased out of her home when faced with the fact that she wasn't a seer. She had always known this, but the will of others had made her fake it. Enough that she didn't know what was the truth; her lack of ability, her true state as an outcast, the death of many by her. She didn't know what to believe anymore, and thus didn't believe anything. She took things as they appeared to be, and it would take much persuasion to change her opinion. She didn't trust in anything. Anything but death.
That was infinite.
Her thoughts flickered across her face, showing the pain she felt whenever she danced around the edges of her previous home. She was never allowed back in, even if all of her previous home had died. Her heart told her to never reutn there, for only hatred would wait for her here. But the world outside of the graveyard was much too big for her spirit, and so she was torn on where to go, what to do...and who to be.
She made herself stop by a small mound in the ground, plopping herself onto her stomach. Her head rested between her forelegs, her blood-stained eyes watching the insides of the graveyard....watching...

Nkechi lay in the sun in the grasses just on the edge of the graveyard border. Her fear and unease toward her home had not changed at all in the months she had lived here. She still prefered to race to the border and play here where it was at least a LITTLE less scary.
She blinked as a butterfly flew past her nose. Smiling she rolled over onto her feet and bounded after it with a soft giggle. Paying little attention to where she was going she raced through the grasses until she bumped head first into a small mound before her. Letting out a small, pained mew, she fell backward onto the ground and into the grass.

Fupa'jinigutua started, her head instantly up, her legs tense on the ground as she heard a thump, and then a whimper.
Not knowing what she should do, the white Hyena slowly got up on her feet, her heart racing as she peeked over the mound...and saw a lion.
Not a big lion, but it was a lion none the less.
Her heart raced for another reason now. When she was just a pup, she was fed stories and rumors about what a lion would do to you if you happened to meet one. And that the cubs were even more dangerous, since their parents would slaughter you, no words spoken.
Not bothering to look at the lion for a second time to see if it was injured, the hyena's ears laid back on her head in submission, her head flickering from side to side, just waiting to see where the parent of this little lioness was going to attack her first.

Nkechi rubbed her nose with a whine. It hurt! Slowly she blinked her emerald eyes open only to see a giant, white and red creature standing before her! It had a huge, long nose and big ears and lots of fur and claws and..."EEEEEEEEK!" She shrieked in terror and flung herself into the dirt, putting her paws over her face.
The young cub was natually afraid of things. She feared the bones and shadows and just about everything else. So seeing something really big that she had never seen before would obviously scare the poor dear.

Fupa, after hearing the scream, natrually wanted to run away, but the fear she was full of wouldn't let her move. She inched back down towards the ground with much effort, continuing to glance around at her surroundings. They'll come now, I know it, I know it, I know it....
Her mind was screaming at her to move, but she couldn't seem to make herself move. It was as if her legs had become so heavy that it wasn't worth the trouble. Her body slowly tensed up tighter as sher drew herself into a mis-shapen lump of white-and-red fur.

Nkechi was shaking like crazy. Every second felt like an hour and she just wanted it all to end...she wanted to be back with her daddy! "D-don't eat me!" She cried, her voice seeming to break as she hid under her paws. She seemed to be pulling herself into a tigher and tigher heap, as though hoping she could vanish and disappear by doing so.

Fupa, hearing the other's words, was taken aback a bit, and even if she was an adolescent, still held the mind of a child. She slowly untensed her muscles, and crawled a bit over to peek around the mound.
"N-no, 'cause your p-parents are going to eat m-me first."
The hyena was on the verge of crying. This event in itself made her wish she never had come back to the graveyard!

Nkechi was crying now. Her sobs were escaping into the air and she was trembling so much it was visably obvious to anyone watching. "Nuuuhhh....they're all far away...they don't know where I am..." She hichuped, still refusing to uncover her eyes and stop "shrinking". "Don't hurt me please!"
Safaia
Like hell they were far away! Fupa would never believe that. Children were always sneaky things, trying to be bossy to you so that you'll lose at everything. And she didn't want to lose that.
"Yeah well, when t-they find you, you'll just t-tell them I h-hurt you or something..."
Her voice fell away, not feeling much sympathy towards the little cub. She thought it more pathetic that it was sitting there sobbing when it could easily be gnawing on her red-dipped leg right about now. Or so she was told.
Her tail swished wildly behind her, making the crisp grasses rustle. The hyena's claws where scraping at the ground too, her nerves not in her muscles so much anymore, but her limbs.

Nkechi didn't understand why the scary monster was arguing with her about it! She was big, scary, with long teeth and claws and she wasn't doing anything. Was she taunting her? Still crying horribly, she peeked out from under her paws to look at the hyena before her. She didn't say anything back, just sniffled and hicuped and shuttered in fear.

Fupa was getting frusterated. She knew that the little cub was going to do something against her, something mean and hurtful. So why was she not doing it yet? The facade was beginning to br tiresome, and Fupa was growing more angry, and not scared. If the cub was going to do something she'd better do it now!
"Why are you sitting there sobbing when you could just rip me apart, limb from limb? The elders were never wrong, so why are you playing it wrong?!"
Her words wouldn't make sense to someone that didn't know her. And there really wasn't anyone that knew her, just the old pack elders that were too crazy to ever be taken seriously, and they were most likely dead now.
"Why are you....playing it wrong....why...?"
Fupa's heart started to break as she thought of her old pack, the pack that she herself had killed with disease. Her elders that had been the closest thing to a real family she had ever known, and here she was, betraying their teachings with her thoughts that perhaps this cub was truthfully scared, and didn't, wouldn't, couldn't kill her.
She started to curls herself away, her white face slipping behind the mound once more.

Nkechi sniffled, "W-what part? I don't understand..." She still couldn't stop her tears. She remembered her mommy telling her the only things that could hurt her in the graveyard were the bones falling on her-which she still feared- and the hyenas. This HAD to be a hyena, for it was big and scary but...why wasn't it hurting her? She didn't understand either! "I can't even hurt a grass hopper!" She mewled and continued to cry. "I got so sad when my brother hurt one!"
Safaia
The pale-white hyena didn't peek her head over or around the mound; instead, this time she just sat there, her ears flickering around her head as she caught the sounds the air had kept still, the sniveling of the cub, her words that made Fupa's heart twinge, which Fupa crushed immediately. Feel, for a lion? She'd rather go back to the graveyard then that! But the natural pity one had, especially for her with a life of hardships, and begun to crawl back into her heart, stealing up the corners that she didn't notice until it was too late.
"A....grasshopper?" were the only words she spoke, this time around.

Nkechi nodded her head, her tears slowling just a little, "Y-yes...he...t-tore off its w-w-wings first to make it....it hurt and t-then squished it!" Her small ears preshed to her head and she hicuped again. Oh, her brother could be so mean! That's why she liked staying with daddy...he didn't hurt poor little bugs.
Safaia
Fupa only half listened to what the little cub was saying...because she didn't know what else to say to her. This cub....didn't like to see a grasshopper hurt?
This was something that was just way beyond her concepts of life.
A lion was supposed to be mean. They're the ones that drove the hyena's to feed off of scraps and rotting carcasses, just like vultures. Make them live in such a dreary place that drove them mad, thus why the hyena's could mostly only cackle.
And she didn't like seeing a grasshopper hurt?
Fupa poured over these new ideas, her usually sharp brain not quite comprehending these new revelations in her life.

Nkechi felt so drained from her tears that she rolled over onto her back and just laid there. She didn't care anymore of if the scary hyena was going to eat her! She was too tired and her nerves were shot from being scared so. She just curled up there sniffling and fending off sleep and terror and all the heavy emotions that wouldn't let go of her heart.
Safaia
Fupa blinked a few times, her soul still quiet, mulling over her thoughts. She crawled a bit so her top-half was visible for the cub, her back-half still hidden by the mound. She didn't know what to say, what to do. She felt stupid, for many reasons. So she simply lied her head down on her forepaws again, and just watched the little cub's own battle with emotions. She still felt fear that one of the cub's parents would appread and attack Fupa for making their little daughter cry, but her mind didn't quite focus on that possibility.
Ary Keeyara
Nkechi mumbled something softly, her voice low and tired. "Mommy told me...mrfff...scary hyenas...eat me..." She yawned, her limbs becomming loose as her mind began to cloud with sleep. She couldn't tell that the hyena was looking at her now, or was even there. She had no clue what was happening anymore.
Safaia
Fupa watched the cub drift off, mumbling something about hyenas...so I guess to each their own. Stories told to younglings to keep them from ever trusting one another. Such a dangerous game to play with minds.
The bonesetter didn't feel comfortable around here anymore, assuming that the time when adult lions might come roaming would soon be upon them. She wanted to be far off before they reached here. Perhaps they wouldn't chase her if she was far enough away.
She stood up, gave one last glance at the little cub, and slowly made her way towards a jungle. Perhaps she could find something tastey to eat there....and perhaps, if lucky, one that she could trust.
