I'm going to take a visit to my gyno soon, and I was wondering if I should tell him that I masturbate. I accidentally broke my hymen when I was 12 playing soccer, and I've already explained that to him. However, my mother does not know that I masturbate, and I'd like to keep it that way, seeing as she is Catholic, and she does not believe in it, and would probably be rather upset at me if she found out. I know that you're supposed to tell your gyno if you're sexually active, but since I am not sure, I don't know how to handle this.

So, it all boils down to this; Should I tell my gyno I masturbate/Is masturbating being 'sexually active'?

This is how I think:

No. It does not mean you are Sexually active. When you are sexually active, this means you are having sexual intercourse.

About your hymen:
Women brake it all the time. Some are thin, some are thick. Some womens hymen can brake just by jumping, tampons, or figures.

About your Gyno:
Unless you are having sex, you are not sexually active.

Masturbation is not sex. You are not sexually active if all you do is masturbate. Most people masturbate. Many kids start masturbating before they even start kindergarten. It wouldn't make sense to say that those kids were sexually active, right? You can never lose your virginity to yourself.

Hymens have nothing to do with anything. Most girls break their hymens around puberty or earlier. Few girls have an intact hymen by the time they have sex. Hymens are in no way related to virginity.

I would not tell the ob-gyn that you masturbate, unless he asks, which I can't imagine why he would. I see no reason to. You can't get pregnant from it, and you can't get an STD from it, and that's all that he cares about. Since most people masturbate, your average ob-gyn will know it's not a certainty, but it is pretty safe to assume that the people that he sees do, in fact, masturbate.
