As you enter, you are greeted not by the owner and occupant of the large room, but instead by the soft whispers of music coming from an obscure corner of the room. It's easily audible upon entering, but from outside the large white doors, it'd be almost impossible to hear. There is no clutter -not because the girl who lives in the calming room has a maid, but because she keeps to a strict philosophy of keeping in specific areas. The closet is full of dresses, though some expensive casual clothes do border its sides. Crammed far into the back, there are some inexpensive outfits that could easily be found at common shops. But those are hidden deep within the closet, where no one can find them.
Your exploration of the room is cut short by an aggravated young female's voice. "Hey! I don't remember saying that you could come in." She speaks shortly. "Well, since you're already here, I might as well show you around so you don't cause any more trouble. But keep in mind that I have practice soon. And when I leave, you leave. Got it?"
[ "They're all I really care about." ]

Name: Harijuki Shinobu Gender: Female Age: Occupation: High School Student
Family Trade: The importing and exporting of costumes (Halloween, cosplay, etc.). Although they don't make or design the costumes, she's able to have access to many different outfits for whenever she performs. Class: 1B
Personality: Shinobu is actually a caring person, but she hides this under a cold exterior. Having been able to get whatever she wanted whenever she wanted, she is spoiled and slightly stuck-up. She keeps people away from her so they don't get close. Those few that do have her friendship are protected by everything she can muster. But most people don't want to put the effort into getting through the tough shell that she shields herself with. Because they don't want to put up with her for long, they have misconstrued perceptions of who she really is. Not many of them even want to give her a second chance.
Inside, she actually does feel for the other students. She'll watch quietly as they talk at lunch or before class. If one of the less wise students tries to bring her into the conversation, though, she'll say something sarcastically to get them to move away so she can go back to what she was doing before. She isn't a bookworm, but because she usually has her head in a book to tell others she doesn't want to be bothered, she's gained a reputation as being one. She keeps up her grades in order to stay with her classmates.
Her demeanor always stays at a professional level. Shinobu doesn't talk much unless she feels she needs to. When she's dancing, though, her appearance looks much less serious. Even though not many people watch her face when she dances, there is a noticeable hint of a smile forming on her face as she moves. She practices often, but keeps her practice during school breaks a secret from the other students. Letting them know about that would be letting them get one step closer to her. To keep her secret from the others, she only practices where she thinks no one will see her.
The only person that she allows to get close to her is her brother, Daichi who has yet to understand everything that she's talking about. She wants to keep him safe, and is a little overprotective when it comes to him. Only a few people actually even know he exists. And those people have looked up her family. She tells no one about him, even if she trusts them with her life. She feels that if she mentions him, then she's making herself vulnerable.
She believes that once she's out of school, she'll just fade away into the background. And once that happens, she won't matter anymore. She plains to keep that from happening by becoming a professional dancer. That is her dream and what she strives for.
History: The first few years of her life were spent as an only child. Her parents allowed her to have whatever she wanted, and they let her get away with anything that wasn't incredibly serious. Their little girl got what she wanted, even if she didn't ask for it specifically. And for six years, Shinobu was spoiled with everything that she could ever want and more. This all changed, however, when her brother was born. Because he was a boy, and what's more, the only boy born to the Harijuki family, he would be the one who grew up to succeed their father. Because Shinobu's not the heir to her family's industry, she will only be able to help Daichi with his endeavors once he becomes the head of the business.
Once her younger sibling was born, people actually started setting rules and guidelines for what she could and couldn't do, along with what she was allowed to get, and when. This immediate crackdown, along with the sudden arrival of her brother, who would be the new head of her father's business, caused Shinobu to feel great hatred and envy toward the infant. She showed it whenever possible. When she thought even the smallest of things was going in his favor, she'd through a tantrum. From age six to eight, her parents were able to put up with her horrible behavior. But when she was eight years old, they finally got tired of it and put her into a dance program that would give her an outlet for her feelings.
She was a natural. Her coach was one of the few people actually able to put up with her bad attitude. Of course, he dealt with it by making her work twice as hard as the rest of his pupils. There were a few times when she actually walked out of the gym to get away from him. He found her a little while later, not crying, but looking incredibly miserable. It took her a while before she decided to come back in to get back to practice. He continued coaching her up until she went into high school, and she had to move up to a different level. During the time that she had him, she competed and won several competitions locally, and placed 2nd in a national competition.
The same day that her parents signed her up for high school dance classes, they applied her to Ouran Academy. Coming from relatively good lineage, having a wealthy family, and having good grades all helped her get into the prestigious school. The combination of both Ouran and dancing helped calm her down and distract her at the same time. Although he still could barely talk with her, her brother was actually a great support to her. She came to visit him whenever she was feeling down, and his smile made her feel better. His first word was actually "Ino-chi," which he continues to call her by.
Hobbies: (Ballroom) Dancing and completing puzzles Likes: Books, dancing, music, her brother Dislikes: Overly loud or bothersome people (With exceptions)

 [First Prompt Response]
The day was nice, surprisingly. The sun was blinding, though it didn't really matter, as the students were inside for the larger portion of the day. Shinobu made sure to navigate through the shaded areas after being freed from one of her classes to avoid the ball of light in the sky. She was amazed that none of her classmates were rich enough to merely turn it off. Though she wouldn't have been surprised if someone in Ouran had enough money to cover the entire school with a drape that the light couldn't penetrate. A velvet drape, of course. As the girl mused to herself, she drew ever closer to the café. A book pressed almost against her nose, Shinobu pretended not to notice the groups of students that passed her by. They ignored her, as well. Why would they talk to some 1B student that always kept to herself?
Since that morning, no one had even spoken to her. Both history and math had been uneventful, and already her day was mostly over. She thought that some unknowing boy had attempted to, only to be forcefully pulled back by his friends. At least he knew now not to talk to her unless he had to. But then again, he didn't seem like someone who learned from his mistakes. A reminder from the back of her mind told her to remember that she had practice after school in the second music room. It was, of course, a solo practice. She did have a partner, though she still hadn't met him. She'd been told that he was a new student to Ouran, but there was a great many new students that year coming into freshman year with her class.
The last few days had been increasingly stressful. Shinobu had expected high school to be difficult, but the passing of time just made it harder for her. Teachers assigning extra homework for her to do, constant reminders from her new coach that she had to get all her forms in for the first competition of the school year, and there was always the noise of her classmates. For some reason, school had become louder during the progression into high school. And the farther they got into the year, the more the noise grew. It just wouldn't leave her alone, regardless of how much she avoided the others.
Even if she was by herself, Shinobu got no peace. She wasn't graced with silence, no matter where she went in the school. Nowhere was quiet. Even in the deserted music rooms she could hear the other students outside. At least she could slightly drown them out when she turned on the music for practice. Most of the time she could hear specifically what they were saying, even though Shinobu just wanted some peace. Their conversations were just so loud... "I mean, really, what are they thinking? Most of that class doesn't deserve to be in this school." Shinobu caught someone with her ears. Which class were they talking about? It didn't really matter, so she just continued walking, if a little slower than she had been before. "Did you know that some of 1B actually thinks they're better than 1A? It's true, I heard a group of them talking about it just the other day." The girl that the first one was speaking with was opening her mouth now. It was none of her business, nor did she feel that she should put herself in it.
The entire time that she was eating, the thought of the 1A girls talking outside annoyed Shinobu. Even if she didn't really seem to care about her class, it felt bad just letting them get away with talking about 1B as a whole without even attempting to stop them. But what was she supposed to do about it? She wondered about what decision she should make for a while before actually deciding. After that, she continued eating peacefully until she was done. They were still talking when she left the café. It must have been a very in-depth conversation to keep them going for that long. But when she was close enough to hear them, Shinobu was unpleasantly surprised to find that they were still talking about her class. "If they were so good at everything, then their grades would be good enough to at least be promoted to our class." "Not that we'd want them." Both of the girls were laughing now, in a very annoying fashion. Shinobu had never heard a laugh like theirs before, and hearing it in stereo only served to annoy her more. 'Oh-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho!'
She couldn't take it anymore. It wasn't possible for her to idly watch as they made fun of her entire class. Yes, some of her classmates might not be the greatest and most worthy of being in Ouran Academy, but it wasn't possible to base their opinions of the entire class while they were merely looking at a few bad seeds. "Stop. It isn't as if you haven't badmouthed us enough already." Although all three's clothes were alike, they definitely weren't the same. Far from it, really. "We might not be the top class, but you can't talk about 1B like that. After all, you could be our classmate as early as tomorrow." She grinned lightly at the two girls. Unlike her, they were both relatively tall. Their height wasn't a factor, though –she was fighting with words, not with strength. It wasn't her smartest idea. Shinobu was outnumbered, even if there were only one more of them then there was of her.
"Why don't you mind your own business?" The girl who she'd speak first was the one to react quickly. The second girl was shocked at the nerve of the 1B girl's nerve. She was slightly amazed that someone in a lower class was even able to speak to them. Was it even possible for that to happen? The two 1A girls thought that the lower the class, the closer to commoners they were. And even if class B was close to class A, they were still partially common. How ordinary. She finally spoke, realizing slightly who the rude girl was. "Hey. Isn't that the girl that beat Aizawa in the national competition that she went to a few months back?" The second girl whispered into the other girl's ear. The first girl, a red-head with black lowlights, examined Shinobu from top to bottom. "You're right!" She exclaimed before beginning to tap her foot at the smaller girl. "You're that Harajuku girl, aren't you. It looks like you're true to your namesake. From the picture we saw, it looks like you belong in Harajuku, not Ouran." Their annoying laugh filled the area again. The loud noise caused a small crowd to form.
There were whispers along the outside of the ring of people. As usual, they were so loud that Shinobu couldn't help but hear what they were saying. It was like they didn't even realize that they were almost yelling to her.
What's going on? I don't know. Is that Harijuki? Has Shinobu been messing with the 1A girls? I never liked her. She always acts so strangely. She should just back off already.
It was lunch hour already, and everyone was moving to just outside the café after they were done eating. Shinobu heard many people against her, but no one seemed to be on her side. And the crowd was steadily growing. "Not so smart now, are you, little Miss Harajuku? It looks like even your classmates are against you on this. Just go back to class, and we'll just forget this all happened." Shinobu was becoming slightly disoriented. She wasn't even sure if what she'd just heard had even been from one of the two 1A girls or from the crowd. "No, I wo-" "Terribly sorry, but I must interrupt." With that, someone came out of the crowd. Whoever it was, Shinobu couldn't recognize him. It seemed as though he was trying to help, though. Even if he had stopped her from talking. "Harijuki-chan is late for her practice. You know, if she doesn't practice, then there's no way 1B can become any better at all. I apologize if you think badly of our class, but we're trying our best to become more acceptable. But if you still have a problem, I suggest taking it up with the superintendent." The boy gave a large smile to the two girls before dragging Shinobu off toward the music room. The crowd stood in awe for a few minutes before dispersing to talk about what had happened.
"Why did you do that?!" Shinobu yelled at him when they were far enough from everyone else. She finally pulled her hand from him so he couldn't pull her around anymore. "I don't even know who you are, but you and apparently everyone else knows who I am." Now he was done pulling her. "Oh, I'm sorry. Harijuki Shinobi, I am called Maeda Kazuo. I helped you because you and I need to learn how to work together. I'm your dancing partner."
Shinobu gawked silently for a moment. Him, her new partner? This would be just...
"Come on, Harijuki-chan! We're already late, so we'd better get started. The pair tournament is just a few weeks away! We're going to have to practice a lot to get our routine prepared!" She felt him tug again on her arm. "You and I are going to have so much time together, and trust me, we'll be the best of friends by the time we're seniors!" She groaned.
Great.
