Hey y'all..

So, this is the first time I ask for recomendations, so this is kind of historical.. you might wanna take a picture with this thread, I shall autograph them later >_>

hehe, anyways... I'm wanting to listen to bands that are Operatic and Symphonical above anything else.

If they don't have growly vocals, the better.

Think of something exactly in the vein of the song "Nifelheim" by Therion.

What do I want? Orchestral scores combined with some metal and an operatic-like singer.

Such as Therion in "Secret of the Runes" (I haven't heard any material beyond that album), or Nightwish in some ways... or Haggard in "Eppur Si Muove".

Or even Theater of Tragedy in some ways...

Anyways, thanks for the recs you might give me, and I'll check them out when I acquire them >_>

If you'd like to recomend DVDs of such artists, do so as well.

Thanks

EDIT: Also feel free to recomend me Power Metal ballads smile

Since you didn't menction them, I'll assume you haven't listened to Rhapsody and will recommend their 'Dawn of Victory' album. And if you want a really neat voice, you should listen to Kamelot in the form of 'Karma', 'Epica' and 'The Black Halo', because Roy Khan is a fantastic singer. 3nodding

As for Power Metal ballads, 'Believe' and 'If I go away' by Savatage should make you feel warm inside.

lol, Ant, I already checked The Dogma, and they are pretty good smile I just need to listen to the album again <.<

To the rest of you guys, take into consideration I've heard most classic bands from all genres already... that's what listening to metal for 9 years does to you... but I left metal alone for some time, and now I have an urge to listen to power, melodic and prog metal >.>

So yeah; I know Rhapsody, but I knew the Rhapsody that released three albums and were about to release Dawn Of Victory as their newest... maybe I should check 'em out again

Agalloch I haven't heard smile I will though

Keep 'em coming >.>

If it's recommendations you desire, then recommended-ed thou shalt be! I don't list songs, I list albums, FYI.

Mystic Prophecy - Regressus

German power metal. Comparable to Blind Guardian, with a hint of Iced Earth.

Secret Sphere - Scent of Human Desire

Italian prog/power.

Borknagar - Epic

Norse black/prog. Interesting stuff.

Demons and Wizards?

Demons and Wizards?

Yes, in that vein. I'm reluctant to say that they're EXACTLY like BG or IE, but that's the umbrella they'd fall under.

It was just kind of funny that you said they sound like BG with IE. When I think those two, I think the greatness that is D&W
PostPosted: Fri Mar 16, 2007 8:43 pm

Well, yeah. That's what one would assume when ya mention those two together. *shrugs* I mainly enjoy power metal purely for the music. The lyrics are more or less disposable. I'm more a melodic death and metalcore (yeah, and proud of it razz ) man mehself.

Liv of Leaves' Eyes has some nice operatic vocals, but there's also harsh vocals in a lot of their songs..

Anyways, check out Leaves' Eyes by Leaves' Eyes.
