Judging from the sheen of her clothes, the girl was definitely Rich, Fish decided. From his perch on the fire escape, he could see parts of her face in the dim light filtering down from Uppers. She had asiatic features - a flat-ish nose, almond shaped eyes that glinted in the light, and hair that seemed to have a purplish sheen to it. She gave off an odd air - maybe she was another player?
He leaned forward on the platform, but felt the weight shift and the metal groan, so he leaned back to his previous position and began to climb down.
Had she heard him?

“I hate living in Uppers,” Maria thought to herself as she slowed her trot into a slower walking pace to give her a chance to calm down and straighten out her ruffled clothes, as she still she rambled to herself, “Why did my parents have to do that to me. All I ever do is run when I’m in that part of the city...”
Just as her nerves began to settke down a bit, Maria heard the groaning metal from above and she prepared herself to run, yet again. Before running though, instincts told her to look up and make sure. Looking up she was relieved to see that it was just merely a child of about her age. Deciding it was a good idea to maybe say hi to the other child, she decided to wait a second to talk to him, maybe he too played the game that all the children were talking about lately.

Fish thought he felt a flash of recognition when their eyes met. He scrambled across the unstable platform and down the ladder, landing in a crouch, webbed fingers splayed. His trident was still on the sling on his back, and it comforted him.
Who was she? he wondered, straightening up. He had a very good suspicion that she was indeed another player.
Your instincts serve you well, Poseidon confirmed, nudging his mind, Though I do not know the goddess who has taken residence in her mind.
Fish pulled the trident out of its sling and held it passively across his thighs. If she was another player, then she might be dangerous. Rather than let her take the first move, he darted off down the alley.

"Wait, please don’t run away," Maria said as she took a deep, sigh-like breath and began to chase after the strange child.
She was not thrilled at the idea of chasing the other child, but Izanami’s voice rang through her head. Chase him down Maria. Do not let him escape. He can help you with questions I cannot answer for you.
With that last statement made by her alter ego, Maria decided it was best to chase him down for answers. “Let see how long he can run,” thought Maria as she prepared herself mentally for another long run.

Fish skidded to a halt behind a dumpster, his gills flaring every time he breathed. He was made for swimming, not for running. He webbed feet were clumsy on land. If he could avoid this girl by hiding rather than by outrunning her, the day would turn out much better.
Hearing her plea, he peered out from his hiding spot.
What on earth did she want?

"Now, where did he go," Maria thought as she stopped running for a second and began to look around the area.
Then as she looked she caught glimpse of him peering from behind a dumpster a bit further down the way. "There you are," she thought as she slowly made her way toward the dumpster slowly knowing how dangerous some children were.
"Excuse me, can I talk to you," she asked as she approached the boy.

"Depends what about," replied Fish, moving out from behind the dumpster. "I'm only allowed to tell certain people certain stuff, and if you already know it, there's no point."
He paused, trying to decide how to evaluate her.
"Have you ever been to Seasons?"
Her answer would settle it.

"Yes, I have been to Seasons. Why, did you ask such a question?" asked Maria as she became curious why the young boy would ask such a question.
"Why is he asking me that question," she thought to herself as she answered the question, and that asked it half heartedly to Izanami.
I have no clue, why he would such a question, replied Izanami as she answered the question. Maybe you should just shut-up and listen this time.

"And you have met Miss Floros?" asked Fish. "And has she given you something of value? And a flower?" He had to be sure she was a player before he answered anything. She was a Rich, after all. She might be a Black Suit spy, and giving them any sort of information was definitely at the top of the Bad Ideas List.
"If you answer right, I'll talk."

Maria hung her head knowing that her truth probably would not get her any bit closer to the answers she seeked. "I have just been to the shop to look at the flowers, I don't know anyone by the name of Miss Floros," said Maria as she began to realize her hopes of actually asking the child some questions began to dwindle.
As the feeling of doubt swept over her, she pulled her jacket closer to her body. This was in attempt to keep her body from cooling down again, just in case she felt it a need to run. As she did this though her eyes glazed over, but she made sure not lose focus of what was going on.

"She's never given you anything?" Fish affirmed. "I can't tell you anything." He nodded curtly and began to stroll off, trident firmly in hand. Clearly, she was not a player, because everyone knew Miss Floros if they played the game.
He stepped out of the alley and around the corner.

"I know he's a Godling," Maria told herself as she listened to him babble on about the game. "He's not a normal child; he has webbed hands and gills and he speaks of all the weird stuff."
Since Maria had inquired that when she first saw him she wasn't going to let the young boy leave without answering one question, running after him she stopped a couple of feet behind him. "Just answer this one question please, how long have you been playing The Game," Maria asked taking a slight bow to show respect for the question, she was determined not leave empty handed.

Fish froze. She knew about The Game, and she knew he played it, which meant a few things. First of all, it was entirely possible she was repeating things some Black Suit had told her to ask. Second, she could had heard hearsay about what The Game was. Third, and much more unlikely, was that she was a geniune player and was either being just as indecisive as he was and had in fact been to Seasons and met Miss Floros, who had given her a flower and a talisman, or she was a real player but his wording was confusing her.
"Persy," he spat deliberately, ignoring the bow. "Did you meet Persy and did she give you something... important?"
He fixed his blue eyes on her suspiciously.
"Since it started. About four months."

Hearing the name Persy, Maria lifted her head and made eye contact with Fish. "Ms. Persy. Yeah I know her, she told me everything about The Game and then gave me this," answered Maria as she pulled out a chain from around her neck that had a sakura blossom charm on it with a small cross in the center of the flower. “And ever since she told me about The Game I’ve been trying to find others who play.”
As the conversation seemed to take a turn for the better Maria regained her composure, and could not help but give a light smile at the fact his voice even seem to become less harsh.

"Ms. Floros," nodded Fish, "She gets everyone who joins The Game."
Spying the necklace, he asked, "Who talks to you through it?" He thought that was how the talismans worked. After all, he'd never heard Poseidon until he'd gotten his ring.
