Well, actually, that's only how he first appeared in the Archie/AoStH series...
Tails' original Sega incarnation was much more orange-tinted rather than brown (why the heck Archie started Tails out like that, I'll never know :/ ), and had a bit of a longer snout....Definitely alot closer to his current Adventure-style look.

I like old school Tails, but I'd have to say I find the new Tails more appealing.

Xagarath Ankor (Looks at first picture) Dear gods, what is that thing? What Shane said. That's a uniquely US Tails, rather than his worldwide first incarnation. I didn't mind the chestnut fur, but I never understood why the US insisted on those incredibly rounded, quite fleshy features. What ticked me off was when Fleetway insisted on changing their Tails to match, along with an AoStH-style Robotnik - I really didn't think that either suited Fleetway's slightly darker style, and Tails just looked too darned pathetic, even for the (singularly unflattering) way that Fleetway wrote him. I'll see if I can find some Sonic 2-era pics. *slaps Xag for the Princess Bride quote*

There's some nice pics of him on the Sonic screensaver, but I'm afraid I don't know how to attach them. W

How is it that tails get such nice cars, and yet we are stuck with a Bi-plane?
I like them both! Hah! I love not choosing sides! XP

Houdinia How is it that tails get such nice cars, and yet we are stuck with a Bi-plane? I like them both! Hah! I love not choosing sides! XP I like them both, too. smile But there's just something about that little bit of extra detail in the SA models that allows for more expression in their pics - even just giving their eyes irises lets them show a bit more emotion.

For the sake of gameplay and storyline the new Tails looks much better, although my favorite Tails is the version that appears on the cartridge to Sonic the Hedgehog 2. He looks so cute and fluffy there. The cuter the better IMO.

Still, at least the new Tails isn't like the new Sonic - that cooler-than-thou sneer could give little kids nightmares.

That's why I really don't like Knuckles. Knuckles always seems to act like he and his position make him so much better than anyone else, even to the extent to shooting first and asking questions later. He strikes me as stupid in that way. Shadow doesn't seem as bad as Knuckles, but with some work I think he could make it there. Still, this is personal opinion and others may see it as refreshing confidence. Whatever, you're entitled to your beliefs. Still, it's these scruples which makes me like Tails more. If I were ever lost in Mobius or something, I think I'd do best to find Tails. He'd probably help me the most in any situation.

Chaos_Dude Sonic's always had that sneer, it's just more pronounced in the newer Sonic. That sneer's always been one of the things that put me right off Sonic - it was only Tails that hooked me into the franchise. Although I miss the days when Sonic's "attitude" was all about the greatness of being oneself through whatever, rather than being trendy and wearing the right sort of shoes. Quote: That's why I really don't like Knuckles. Knuckles always seems to act like he and his position make him so much better than anyone else, even to the extent to shooting first and asking questions later. He strikes me as stupid in that way. Shadow doesn't seem as bad as Knuckles, but with some work I think he could make it there. Shadow and Knux at least have some degree of character motivation in that respect - they are who their lives and positions've made them. Sonic just strikes me as an arrogant git who's always gloryhogged (pun intentional) his way to the front with very limited talents and a big mouth - just the sort of annoying jock that I got driven nuts by in high school. Granted, he's shown a bit more depth in Sonic X, but that whole concept's still there. Quote: Still, this is personal opinion and others may see it as refreshing confidence. Whatever, you're entitled to your beliefs. Still, it's these scruples which makes me like Tails more. If I were ever lost in Mobius or something, I think I'd do best to find Tails. He'd probably help me the most in any situation. Likewise. Tails strikes me as a guy who'd give you a lift, whilst Cream'd probably just take you home for tea until she could find someone who would give you a lift. The moment when I knew that SX got Knux right was in episode three, when Amy was watching Eggman's robot wrecking the city and chasing Tails, and his response to "We've got te help them!" was "I've got more important things to do!" because he was too busy looking for a way back to the Master Emerald.
