The last month or so I've been drinking smoothies (whatever berry I have in the freezer, milk and a little sugar) for breakfast, a big salad for lunch, and pretty much whatever for dinner (though I try to make the healithest choice, it doesn't always happen), along with 8-10 glasses of water a day. And (this is why I had to post) I've lost 10 pounds! heart my last weigh in was just over a month ago and I was 243, and today I am 233. Go me! xd I was just so excited about it I had to tell someone.

I've been hearing about smoothies - sounds like a good idea, easy to make... I'll have to try it. Any particular combination that's really good?

You go girl! Congratulations. I try to drink 8 glasses of water a day, but I don't do it as consistently as I should. It seems to be working for you. I like your regiment of the smoothies and the big salads... I'm experimenting, so I might try it!

Raspberry Fluff, I like two combos alot. Blackberries and blueberries, and raspberries and blueberries. I also suggest to make the the night before and put it in the fridge, that way the seeds settle to the bottom. looks kind odd but still tastes good.
liblogarian, I have been loving the big salads for lunch (y'konw 3 cups is what my spring mix bag says is a serving).
Thank you for the encouragement! I'll keep ya'll posted!

Wow, great job!
Your diet plan seems like a good one...very do-able, if you ask me. I think I could eat a smoothie breakfast, a salad lunch, and a nice dinner.
Question: what all do you put on your salads?

My baby weight just didn't want to go away. xd I don't put much on, pretty much whatever veggie I have in the fridge, carrots, cucumber, bell peppers, a little feta cheese, dried cranberries are good too, and some poppyseed dressing. This week (upcoming week) I'm actually going to measure out the serving size of the dressing and start cutting back on it. 3nodding

I bet if you made a vinaigrette with lemon juice and olive oil, it would be super yummy...and probably less calories than poppyseed dressing.

It is a very vummy salad, and having a big salad for lunch makes up (somewhat) for a not so well chosen dinner. Ooo that does sound good. Do you have any good recipes?

I don't really have a recipe, I always just make things up. Usually I'll juice half or a whole lemon, add some pepper, maybe some salt, then whisk in a couple tablespoons of olive oil. Adding the zest of the lemon is really tasty too. You just have to experiment...I like my vinaigrette more tangy, so I add more lemon juice, others like it more oily, so they add more oil. It's just up to what you like!

Congrats on your big success so far! It sounds like you are doing wonderfully and it's nice to see that enthusiasm to continue.
My salads are really simple. Iceburg lettuce with cucumbers when I'm at home, and there is this little place that sells salads that I often take to class (I'm a college night student). If I go there I get a little bit of iceburg lettuce, some baby carrots, cucumbers, banana peppers, jalapenos, and a tiny bit of cherry tomatoes. heart All topped off with a TINY bit of low-fat ranch.

Good work! Once you start exercising more though, you'll want to incorporate a bit more protein into your diet, in order to build lean muscle mass.
You can do this simply by adding a few things to what you're already eating. Say, adding 1 sliced egg onto your salad, or half a cup of shrimp, or sliced lean chicken or turkey breast. Nuts are another tasty thing for salads, but you don't want to go overboard with them as they do have a lot of calories, but a few teaspoons will add some protein and Omega 3.
What I do for smoothies, is I get some whey-protein. Not processed, like the flavored stuff, just pure whey protein. I put 1/3 of a cup into all my smoothies. It tastes a little strange at first, but if you start off small and work up to 1/3 cup, you'll get used to it. It adds only 110 calories, and has 23 grams of protein.
Keep up the good work!
