Dorchet attention snapped to Sonia as she neared him, his wings unfolding a bit as he shifted his weight around a bit what was this fox thinking? He rose to his paws his claws scrapping against the ground as he did so, a small flame left where his paw had been, slowly it died as it turned to a red before disappearing completely.

The skkkkrrrrt of claws along the ground scrabbling at her eardrums, Sonia watched the flames licking the air with a strange kind of fascination: the same kind, perhaps, as is displayed by a mouse that beholds a serpent's gaze. As the fire slowly died, she let her eyes travel up to meet with those of the red beast before her.

"...You..." she began...and trailed off. What could she say? What was there to say that some other fox must not already have said? What distinction, what honour could be bestowed by one so small upon one so mighty?

But she was Sonia, and she had to try, though her voice was barely a whisper, though the smoke stung her eyes and nose, though every part of her mortal body screamed at her to flee with her life intact.

"...you...are...magnificent..."

Dorchet watched Sonia with a murderous look and some what of a challenging look as she stopped. The demon fox silently watched Sonia, when the fox paused he narrowed his eyes, what else could the fox say, scary, mean, rude, big. He scoffed to himself he had heard it all, besides he was dieing to kill something, he always had this unbreakable feeling about him. He blinked as she finished, Dochet frowned slightly he had not heard this one before, "And why is that." He growled, "You seem different from other foxes that approach me, you arnt defiant as the kits were, but not as scared as other foxes. You, what is your name."

"My name is Sonia, O master of fire." The words were out before she could stop them - a good thing they were the ones she wanted to say in any case. "And I...fear I know not why I am what I am. All I know is that I look upon you and I see the inferno in vulpine form. I am afraid, but more than that...I am in awe."

Had not her ancestors been thus mesmerised by fire, drawn to it, forced back by the searing heat and yet somehow, in some small way, tempted to cast themselves into its deadly embrace?

"Hmm, Sonia." He looked at her as if studying her for a moment and his tail brushed against the ground, "In awe huh?" He questioned, he could see the fear in her, he let out a slight smirk, "Quite a poetic fox." He noted then sat back down deciding that she was no real threat and he would hold back for now and let himself be engulfed in company as he had in flames.

Poetic? She supposed that was true. Slowly relaxing, settling down nearby, not taking her eyes off the winged creature before her, Sonia considered her answer.

"...It is how I see things, sir," she offered after some thought. "Some say there is beauty in everything. I say there is poetry."

The soft flicker of flames at his heavy paws, perhaps frightening to some, held little fear for her now. She was too enchanted by their whispering dance to worry that they might harm her. Still the great creature had not tried to harm her or chase her away; this too was encouraging. He had said that some were afraid, but that some kits were defiant - this she did not understand. What was there to defy? He made no unreasonable demands, had as much right to be present here as any Modifox - why attempt to stand against him?

Why indeed, she thought, watching the movement of powerful muscles beneath thick red fur, should anyone wish to stand against him?

Kure and Panda-chan wandered though the forest, enchanted and enthralled by their new appearances as elders. They would run around like kits, tugging eachothers' feathers or bushy tails. Panda-chan came to a halt, and Kure after him. They sensed another modi, and something else they had never felt before. The hair on the back of thier necks rose, not out of fear, but anticipation to see what this creature was. They approached slowly, trying to conceal themselves as they then sat to watch this spectacle of the flaming Modieva.

Dorchet smirked then sat down down folding his wings his firey gaze never leaving her for a moment, "I see." He noted calmly his long tail flicking, "You really have seen none of my kind before." He said strongly, "If you had you would not say such things fox. My kind are terrible and hostile I am impressed that you even approached me without running away in fear." He added, his gaze soon flickered over to where the two other foxes where hidden he gave another small smirk he would not attack for now, these foxes amused him greatly, though this one Sonia had a different perspective on life.

The blood-marked vixen's smile was a little apprehensive, but mostly born of the rush of pride she felt at his words. She hadn't even noticed the two elders approaching. "Perhaps you ought not to be so swift to praise me, sir," she answered, chuckling a little and turning coyly away. "I doubt it was bravery that spurred me on so much as blind foolishness. But nonetheless...you do not seem terrible. Mighty, yes, somewhat frightening, yes, but not terrible."

Because he didn't look terrible, when you got down to it. He was a lot bigger than the average Modifox, and even elegant Sonia with her willowy limbs was dwarfed, but besides a few sharp accoutrements and the impressive wingspan he was...familiar. For all his fire and smoke and towering stance, he looked like a fox, not a daemon.

One could almost, Sonia thought to herself in a strange moment of inspiration, call him handsome.

"After all," she added, "were you so hostile as you say...would you not by now have torn your foolish admirer limb from limb as she stood, transfixed, before you?"

Kure and Panda-chan exchanged looks. They knew the demon-fox had noticed them and that the female had not. They didn't bother to move, they didn't care eneough. The couple was transfixed by the scene that they were witnessing. Kure whispered to Panda-chan, "Reminds me of that thing in that one book." Kure looked at him, his eyes half-closed because of Panda-chan's vagueness. "Yeaaah....." he drawled out, "you mean in the Scarlet Letter?" Panda-chan nodded fervently and they said in unison, "I hated that book." Panda-chan looked to Kure once more, "Do you think if we threw it at that big fox, it would catch fire?" "I can only hope...."

Dorchet looked at the fox with slight curiosity stretching his powerful wings for a moment, the closed them calmly, "Hmm. You really are different then other foxes Sonia." He said feeling the flames lick at his legs, gave the fox a soothing feeling as he closed his eyes for a long moment. Then listened to the fox opening his eyes, "Curiosity that is all." He said looking at the fox with deadly eyes, yes, nothing was stopping from was destroying the blood dipped fox where she stood. He was just curious.

Just curious, he said. Sonia could hardly believe her ears. She had never thought she would be enough of a curiosity for it to save her life, and certainly not to one so seemingly worldly as this fire-keeper. He had seemed preoccupied with her earring, though - perhaps it was just that. Perhaps it was the poetry, for that seemed to please him. Either way, she seemed to have done something to stand out from the crowd.

"I find it hard to believe that I could be a curiosity to anyone, sir," she admitted, silently gratified by his continuing attention, "let alone to one such as yourself."

The air around them was hotter than before, she felt sure. The flames at his paws were probably stronger than she had originally anticipated. Just the flames - the little fires were responsible for the unexpected warmth. Nothing more.

The flames reflection danced off the golden bracelet on his leg, he continued to watch her and her words continued to amaze her. He narrowed his eyes at what she said first, "And why wouldn't you be, do you not believe my words fox?" He asked in a some what of a cool tone, his wings rising a slight bit, then shifted a bit his eyes flickering over to the other foxes and their comment about throwing and burning the book, "Why don't you try and find out?" He asked in almost a challenging voice, he did not like being interupped.

"Oh, I believe you, firebringer," Sonia answered, almost laughing, but not in a way that would seem mocking or disrespectful. "I just don't understand you." Because she didn't. She had never thought that she was anything particularly special - nice colouring, well-kept fur, but too skinny and pointed to be remarkably pretty. As for the earring, well, she was proud of it, but it was hardly worth that much attention, was it?

...And then she followed the red fire-fox's gaze, and spotted the two approaching elders. Ought she to bow her head in respect? They hardly seemed that they would mind if she did not, and she did not want to risk angering the great beast before her - she had a feeling his temper could easily change. So she stayed as she was, watching them without staring, without threatening, without being too obtrusive. This last, given her enviable position at the centre of the winged fox's attention, was somewhat difficult.

Dorchet lowered his head in respect to the two elders spreading his wings, clearly what he had said had been some what of a joke, he raised his head looking at Sonia again, "Well you can start understanding me by calling me by my name, Dorchet, instead of sir, and Oh! My personal favorite, firebringer." He growled calmly flicking his tail his wings folding once more looking at the fragile fox before him, "Are you in one of those groups called a tribe?" He asked noting the swords on her jewelry.

Dorchet. The name rang bells, but for the life of her Sonia couldn't read the labels underneath them. His question put an abrupt stop to her train of thought, though, and she scrambled for the words to answer him. "...Tribe? Oh - no, not...not yet, anyway," she answered, pawing distractedly at the blade ornament that hung from her collar. "It has been difficult to find people I relate to..."

Perhaps Dorchet understood that. ...But was he likely to care? Did he feel the need for company as other Modifoxes did?

"...Why do you ask?"

Dorchet watched the female struggle, it amused him, "I can see why, you are quite different from other foxes I have met." He said watching Sonia, he didnt really mind living a solitary life, it suited him, after all there were not very many other Modieavas out about, "The swords made me ask. I had not seen anymore like them."

Kure stood to go introduce himself and Panda-chan to the two foxes, maybe do alittle shamelss recruting for the Bamboo Tribe, but Panda-chan stayed sitting where he was, and yawned. Kure stared at him and Panda-chan returned it with a look that said, '....What?' Kure walked over to him and hit him in an attempt to get the great panda-colored fox moving, instead, Panda cursed and said, "AH! You hit my funny bone!" He began shaking his leg fervently. Kure sighed. They were begninning to look like a comedy routine rather than two dignified elders. When the tingling sensation had gone from his leg, Panda-chan took the lead into the place where the winged fox and the female fox were. He said, as though the scene with Kure hadn't just happened, "Hello, I'm Panda of the Bamboo Tribe, its an honor to meet you." He bowed his head in returned respect for Dorchet. Kure moaned at his mate and trotted over, extending the same geniality with a head bow. Then, as if to get back at him, Kure said, "But your name is Panda-CHAN. Did you forget?" Panda-chan glared at him. Kure then cleared his thoat and said, "I'm Kure, also of the Bamboo Tribe."

Oh, the blades. Sonia smiled, a little flicker of pride in her expression. "I designed them myself," she explained, "after a dream I once had - a feather quill, writing in blood, that transformed when I touched it into a red-bladed sword. It seemed...appropriate somehow."

The approaching elders, speaking now, made her feel uneasy. There was something humbling about being in the presence of mighty creatures, but when they acted like childish fools... She wrapped her tail around and caught the tuft in her front paws, smoothing it in an attempt to calm herself. It was hard to know what to think, how to act around creatures such as these two. And would they try to recruit her for this...Bamboo Tribe of theirs? Could she refuse the demands of two elders at once? Even though she had little respect for them, they were larger and stronger than her and could no doubt bully her into doing whatever they wished.

Silently she watched them, her smile gone, not offering so much as a name to the pair.
