On a nice warm day on the savannah with the sun beating down a young male trotted through the grass. He was on one of his usualy escapades away from his family and he was enjoying it. He was getting to see new sights, see new creatures and as long as they didn't ask him anything or talk to him they never knew he was different. He looked like any lion cub out in play though he was partially different from everyone else. He was tainted or perhaps even considered cursed. The most identifiable part of his curse was the way he spoke... backwards. Other then such he was like any normal cub but his speech was enough to get a lot of looks from others.
Spotting a nice looking tree he rushed at the tree and leapt at it. He hit the tree and clung to it with his tiny cub claws. Sinking his back paws into the trunk he started his way up the tree looking a bit like a squirrel as he jumped and clawed, jumped and clawed his way up.

Red paws tapped over the ground as she danced, the rythm always within her heartless marked heart. Golden eyes flashed and the cub who's name meant dark danced her way into the shadows, her body immersing into the shade and finally not burning up.
A sigh crossed from the little ex-princesses muzzle as she curled up under the shadw of the tree. It was hard for her to go out into sunlight for too long with how dark her fur was, but she was at least blessed a little by all the blood red fur that adorned her legs, eyebrows and tail. And then there was the mark on her chest.
The mark was always right, or rather... most of the time. There had been Tota and then most of her family she loved except one of her brothers that had... never seen eye to eye with her. For some reason she didn't understand it... but in other ways she did.
But that was just her family and that one, she didn't have any friends of such to speak of, so she couldn't really say anything. Didn't really have anyone to protect. ninja

The tainted cub finally managed to get into the tree after slipping a couple of times and almost falling. He carefully sat down on the limb he was on being lucky that the limb was large enough to hold his cub weight. There he shifted the puff of fur on his head about to get it from his eyes and let the blood red color of his eyes be seen. His iris's were pretty much the only part of him that had any color. The rest of him was only different shades of black. Compared to his siblings he was the darkest of the brood even compared to his older sister. He held the most likeness of his father.
Movement below caught the cubs attention. Beneath the tree on the ground another cub almost as dark as himself in color except for the red markings lay curled up on the ground. He immediately spotted a chance to meet someone new and started to speak. He stopped himself though and frowned. He couldn't speak, she wouldn't understand him even if he did and then she would leave. He still wanted to meet this one though so instead he began to purr as loudly as he could. If he could get her to look up then perhaps she would speak to him instead of him speaking to her. Oh what a plan!

Stretched out contently on her belly, Maru started to wash her paws and face from the dust of traveling. It wasn't every day that she got the chance to, in fact back when she lived in and around the crater Maru had ALWAYS been dusty, though she'd taken some liberties in cleaning herself almost hourly because the fur stuck to her ebony fur worse than any of her three siblings or mother. The clean part of her was overjoyed when her father had told her that instead of creating a pride, they were instead moving to a newly formed one. Or soon to be formed, at least.
However Maru's thoughts were abruptly interupted by the loudest purring she'd ever heard in her short life. The juvenile's eyes lifted and shimmered as the sun struck off of their gold irises, burning like fire into the blood red eyes of the black cub above her. A squirrel lion?
Hardly.
He stuck out like a sore thumb off of that tree branch, it was obvious that the tree was barely holding his juvenile weight even though it was large enough. One false move and he was on the ground, that much Maru could tell.
"Well hello up there. Aren't you worried you'll fall?" she asked, her bell-like voice sliding from her black muzzle as she sat up slowly. Of course with as tiny as she was there was no way that Maru could catch him if he fell, but she was worried all the same. ninja
