Ravii was pleased by her choice. The small clearing in the heart of the woods had turned out to indeed be perfect. The small hill that the fallen tree rested out had been transformed in to a den. It wasn't a particularly deep den, but Ravii and Eros could both sleep comfortably beside each other, and have a little room left over for newcomers.
Eros would eventually be kicked outside completely to make room for the growing litter, but Ravii was certain that the red and white furred male wouldn't mind. He was such a sweetheart, she was sure it wouldn't be an issue.
The scent of spring was in the air, and a warm front had moved in over the surrounding woods. The last of winter was slowly being melted away, which pleased Ravii to no end. It meant her puppies wouldn't have to worry about freezing - though with both Eros and she to watch over them, even the most bitter of cold fronts couldn't usurp their body heat.
The moon was out, stars glittering the cloudless skies at peak performance. Dusk had long since passed, but morning was still a few hours away - it was the heart of night and yet Ravii was restless.
Her belly had stretched out, and the movement within her occassionally woke the wolfess but . . . tonight . . . tonight something was different. She couldn't sleep, and the puppies that grew within seemd just as irritated. Rolling to her side, for the umpteenth time, Ravii wasn't prepared for what was to come . . . .
This was her first pregnancy, and though instinct told her what to do and how to respond, she truly was at a loss.
The pain came first. For a moment it felt like a spasm, (not unusual) but unlike the aches and pains that had come to her in earlier days - this spasm didn't want to end.
First one, then another, with the pain maginifying. Pulling herself to her feet, the cream wolf swallowed back a whimper and craned her eck to peer at her belly. So . . .it was time. . .?
Fear and excitement raced through her veins, but agony quickly pressed those aside.
No one had told her it was going to feel like this.
Turning in a circle, the female rolled to her side, shutting her eyes as she felt the contractions grow. Eros was (for once) the last thing on her mind - there was nothing he could do for her, and besides . . . these were her puppies. Maternal instinct demanded she be alone and keep all away (including her beloved Eros).
Oh no - no wolf, animal, or man was welcome near Ravii or the den.
((Yeah, these are night-time puppies! x3 Don't know where Eros might (or might not) be. If he's in the den, though, expect him to be kicked out soon. *grins* ))

The den.
Golden eyes glared at that unholy place, torn between love of Ravii, and hatred for what she bore. It was in all honesty a good den, it was merely what it represented, and what he learned while scouting for it that tore him from it. The scarlet wolf had taken care in making it perfect. Ravii deserved the best, and despite having their things (he couldn't conceive himself into saying the dreaded word) living there as well, besides, until that horror came, he had to reside in it too.
He loved the moon, she being one of his many mistresses. Night had cloaked him as he stray from the burrow, yet she teased him, sprinkling her light across the otherwise black land. The wolf wished to run then, let her lead him far far away, however black claws gripped the earth, and he found himself watching the lone female, torn heart beating crookedly.
"Ravii…" Eros whisper was almost non-existent, knowing he was too far off in the distance for her to hear him. He heard her however, listening to every heart-beat, fearing that one may fall astray if he was to close his eyes…even for a mere second.
So when he heard the whimper, he found himself instantly on his feet, stance shaking as he took his first few steps. It had come…and now she was lost…it all was lost.
"Ravii!" His voice was clear this time, more a deep bellow then anything else. Slowly his steps quickened, and far too soon he found himself beside her den (he liked to think of it as hers…for he hated it so). Slowly he looked up, staring at the cream female sighlently.
"Has…it…?" Eros gaze feel straight back down to the ground, unable to finish his sentence, completely frozen with fear.
(( sorry for the short suckiness =( ))

((*hugs* No worries darling. wink Your posts are never teh suck! ))
The pain continued to grow within her, as if mimicking the despeartion of the little ones carried inside. Her body was reacting in ways Ravii had never imagined, but instinct was quickly taking over in place of fear, anxiety and agony. It wasn't a fun feeling, giving birth, but the female could only hope that the process was swift.
Time seemed to slow down - instead of minutes, it was heartbeats, instead of moments, it was around the contractions of her body. A violet ear flicked when she heard Eros approach, and the wolfess wanted nothing more than for him to curl up with her and help ease the hurt.
But another part of her wanted him to get away, to stay back until the process finished. A small, desperate smile as she looked up in hopes to meet his beautiful golden eyes. "It has," she panted, dropping her head back to to her side weakly, though the smallest of warning growls entered her throat.
She wanted him, yet wanted to be alone as well. "Darling, please," she begged, suddenly feeling trapped and scared within the heart of her own den. Certainly both scarlet and violet could easily rest within the heart of the place, but Ravii felt as if it was shirnking. . . smaller and smaller, closing in on her.
There was no room, not for Eros - at least not during the birth. Little realizing she was doing him a favor, a sharp whine escaped her throat as the birth of number one grew closer. Dear gods but it hurt! "Out," she snapped, politeness aside as her body shuddered with effort. In reality, it was a command for the little ones inside her and her great red mate.
Claws digging at the ground, the shewolf inhaled deeply as her body strained in effort. Just because instinct told her what needed to be done, didn't mean it was going to be easy.

((lol, *loves Ravii* ))
Eros watched mortified, stunned, although he kept a stiff face, not wanting to give her any more to worry about. He was most certainly not one of those guys amazed my the miracle of life, in fact he wished everything could just sort of skip through that phase, pass being born, and being a child, and just sort of appear at the end part of adolescent…maybe then he could deal with child raising…
God he hated pups. He shivered mentally, gaze falling from his lover, to the ground, looking as hollow as his desire to go through with this.
Her words killed his heartbeat, ears twitching slightly, although he was ever so careful not to let his own pain leaked through. As much as he hated this, he still loved her, and was torn by this. Eros didn't was to leave her…as much as he wished he could, eyes drifting slowly towards her. Then he heard the warning of a growl, and slowly felt his tail slip between his two legs.
He'd never thought himself as a passive wolf…but love does funny things to people, many oddities that Eros had come to the conclusion that he would never understand
Eros tried to catch her eye for a mere second, his own golden orbs glittering with uncertainty. He stepped up to her, licked her softly on the nose, and nodded, turning around and sauntering a few steps away before looking back at her.
"I…I understand," he nodded again, before hearing her prompt 'out!'. His cream dipped ears fell flat on his head and tail skittering far between his legs, as he skittered away.
He was outta there!
(( So do you want to skip until after the birth *knows the nasties are not so much fun to arpee* xD
And I'm sooo sorry Uta for taking so long, the last week has been really harsh on me, and I haven't really had the spirits to do anything the last little bit )= ))

((*hugs and loves* no worries, darling~! I know you've been going through some rough times. So don't worry your pretty head about it, kay? I promise I'm patient - besides, gaia/rp is never more important than life. <3 Everything'll be just fine, it has to be.
Oh, and yeah, I'm gonna kind of breeze through it. ;3 ))
Part of Ravii truly didn't want the red and white hearted male to go. But a small part of her, the protective, maternal instinct felt crowded, suffocated, and worried. Perhaps it was merely because Eros was such a new addition to her life, and the pregnancy had happened so quickly. Perhaps a part of her heart knew that all the sweet words he weaved were too good to be true, and therefor she didn't trust him with the newborns.
Instinct, of course, played another role in her decision to throw him out - instinct and just pure pain.
Ravii, despite her coy and ever-trusting nature, was particularly vulnerable. She felt as if the entire den was collapsing in on her, and the intense agony of puppy-birth only made the new-mother panic. Beneath the log, beneath the well-tended dirt and hillside, the cream and violet wolf just wanted the entire experience to be over with.
She hurt, and a sliver of her was absolutely terrified - was she ready for this? Was Eros?
Puppies were a big responsibility. . . .
Well, any reservations or concerns were quickly forgotten as another contraction waved through her.
Now was not time to analyze her past and future - now was time to rely on instinct.
Seconds truned in to minutes, which quickly passed in to hours. It took three to finish the entire process, before Ravii's weak and worn out body told her all was said and done. Three hours, for three puppies . . .
But something had gone wrong along the way.
The first had been a delicate little girl, whose dark, damp fur had lightened in to a darker shade of mauve. Ravii had licked her clean, and kept her snuggled within her paws before the contractions of another pup began.
During the second hour, a black furred male had appeared, though he didn't cry or squirm upon release. His body, ever so tiny - almost half the size of his sister! - had ceased movement long ago. Ravii had tried despserately to revive him from his sleeping state, had groomed him dry, and licked clean his face and nose. Though part of her knew his suffered fate, she refused to dismiss him so quickly. She'd worry about him later. . . after she was done giving birth. Keeping him close to her chest, as if to warm him, the she wolf was quick to resume the final stages of her pregnancy.
In due time, the last of her litter was born. A pale furred female with red lining her cheeks and ears. The little thing was as delicate as her sister, and as Ravii sweetly groomed her new children, the birthing process completed. Within her paws were three puppies, though only two squeaked and cried.
Certain that the two little girls were thoroughly cleaned, Ravii placed one at a time at her side. It didn't take them long to find supper, and as their begging mews died away, silence overwhelmed hte den.
It was over.
Completely wiped out, the cream and violet female stared down at the little son within her paws. Though joyful at her living daughters, part of Ravii was saddened by the loss. Had she done something wrong or was it just the way of things - was his life not meant to be?
Deep within her heart, she wished and hoped and yearned for the little male to wake up. If she could only get him to eat, get him to breathe and think. . . She wanted him to move again, wanted him to be with his sisters. But mother nature held no such sympathy for the dead puppy. The law of the land was survival of the fittest, and it was obvious this one had not been fit.
Outside, a soft light washed the eastern sky into a gentle grey. Dawn was quickly arriving, and it was time to let Eros return. Craning her neck behind her, Ravii whined pitifully. ". . .E-Eros. . .?" She called, voice weak and exhausted.
Oh, how she was sorry for having kicked him out! Now, she just wanted him here with her. His crimson fur snuggled next to her, his gentle words, his loving touch - he wanted him to be there with her, and to meet his beautiful newborn offspring.
Hopefully he hadn't gone far. "I'm sorry," she whispered her apologies, hoping he'd hear and be quick to join her side. "Come see, my love. . . come see."
((o.o Sorry A. for the crappy post *is tired she thinks* and B. for springing the stillbirth on you - I just got hit with the idea as I was writing. Not every birth winds up successful, though two outta three aint bad. ;3 <3 If this is a problem though, feel free to ignore it and I'll take it out of the post. Just a little future potential character development, and more things for Ravii to angst about when Eros leaves. x3 ))

(( oh no, I'm all for that idea *totally loves that thought* It creates a greater rift, and is kind of symbiotic of their future <3 Plus, no one ever mentions still births, and you're right they do happen! ))
Behind tree, hidden from the world, hidden from his mate…yet his troubles still nipped upon his creased ears.
Eros could hardly breathe, so sought by gloom he could hardly move. The male was lying on his side, as if a bear had suddenly charged him and he was waiting for that last finial lunge into his neck. Wearily, golden orbs glowed eerily in the moon's shimmer. Every last shred of hope was devoured, and he laid as an empty shell.
"Shred it," he snapped at the night, knowing well that he was far enough to be considered safe from wandering (not to mention pre-occupied) ears. "Why do you wait?" He fell forward, clambering to a stance. "My neck is yours, now do it quickly. I want this hell to end."
Love, God he hated love.
He was pacing the three hours, long dreadful hours. He hated being alone, probably to the extent he'd feel the same if he was inside the tiny den with his birthing mate (barrels of fun that would be xD ). Second over second he felt himself criticize his own spirit. How could he have been so stupid? How could he have fallen so deeply for her? Why couldn't he had run after the deed had been done? He had done it so many times before…
Why was Ravii so special? Why did he have to love her?
He could have just kept his big mouth shut, and his paws to himself. Eros's gaze fell to the ground as he found himself shocked by his heart. He knew the answer to all of these many questions, and despite his pig-like nature he couldn't defy what his heart had to say.
It's because you love her…and despite all of this…all the pain, all the hardships, it's all worth it in the end. All of this is worth a single moment with her… Eros shook his head, and luckily (for him), he was interrupted by first a mocking sun, and secondly by his love.
They were here…
He found himself running to her side, eyes shaken from fear into some sort of false hope. Ravii needed him more then his petty worried, and she could have him…
The den was certainly not what he expected, it took him a second for his weary eyes to adjust before he could absorb the event. He had two daughters, and despite his hatred for them, he couldn't help but feel his heart put out for them. They were his own flesh and blood…red, white, and…purple. Had Ravii not been there, he would have wept away his worries, however he managed to stay strong for her sake.
The boy on the other hand posed some sort of issue. Half of him wished he had a son, the other half felt relieved his 'family' had stayed so small (father of the year goes to…). He forced himself inside the den, pardoning the lifeless boy from his mate and the daughters by curling up beside her. He would depose of the body while she slept, and if he had any luck, no more would be told of the little creature.
But for now he had Ravii to worry about.
"My what lovely daughters you have there," his words were soft and kind, as he licked her mussel lovingly. "I can say I've yet to see puppies as beautiful as these. Their mother should be very proud…"
He should be proud…however only darkness remained.

((Forgive my post - I think exhaustion may be setting in. ;3 ))
Ravii felt a hundred percent better when Eros came to her side. Though part of her felt a twinge of caution and protectiveness, the majority of the females feelings were that of relief.
The deed was complete - their two daughters began a new generation, and officially launched Ravii and Eros in to their new roles as parents. As Ravii lie on her side, Eros curled up close beside her, she couldn't help but think of their new duties.
A new pack, in a way, a new life. Instead of worrying about her own hunger, she and Eros now had to put their children first. To make sure there was food enough to allow them to eat and grow strong, to make sure their surrounding den-territory was kept free from lurking predators. Though Ravii felt that she and Eros were both important. . . . they weren't quite as important as their daughters. Their time to shine had now passed - everything (for a little while at least) would now be for the benefit of their family.
Oh, Ravii loved her three sweetlings, though her heart did break for her dead son. They were the apple of her eye, and with every passing breath the cream female could only feel her pride and joy swell. They were beautiful, the lot of them. . . but despite her unconditional love given freely to her daughters, Eros was still adored. In fact, the red and white male was truly adored by Ravii. Her heart, though open to him since day one, now drown with her love and pride for the father. He had given her his heart and his love, and now he'd blessed her with a beautiful family. Ravii never had to fear lonliness again, thanks to him. . .
Lifting her head, Ravii whined softly in her throat, turning her azure gaze up to him. If love could be summed up in one look, that would be it. There was no doubt on how the female felt. If Eros for once ever doubted her feelings for him, any and all those times could forever be forgotten.
"Aye, but they are beautiful, aren't they?" SHe whispered, eyes still staring up at the male. "But I can't say I'm surprised, with having as good-looking and handsome a father." Her words were both playful but serious - she found Eros to be perfect.
A gentle laugh, and she let her tail thump the den floor twice. Offering Eros' muzzle a few gentle licks in return, the female finally allowed her head to drop back to the den floor. "I'm not the only one who's proud. . . am I?" She teased, unknowing the angst that tore about Eros' heart. "They're wonderful," she breathed, feeling her throat choak with joy (and wonderful crazy feminine hormones. .. x3) "You're wonderful," she conceded shortly thereafter.
"But . . . but whatever shall they be called?"

Eros could feel the air slowly move in and out of him, slowly his chest rose and released with it. He didn't think at that moment, no it wasn't that he was unable to do such, but more of a dread of where his thought would leave him…and that was much worse then any horror…even the sound of newborn pups.
Over the last few days he had grown accustom to the silence, its eerie presence became almost a soothing reality, and he never fought it anymore.
Caught from his distraction were the little beings that seemed to be getting closer to him…probably much closer then comfort. Yet he said nothing, baffled between pride and hate for the tiny creatures..his girls. He snorted…mentally however, never would he disturb his love, especially in this state, and to what she carried so dear to her. If she loved them…as so many mothers do….then he feared that there would be no more love in her heart for him.
He nudged her lovingly, his golden orbs watching the girls carefully.
The crimson wolf found himself grinning at Ravii's words, she had such a way with him, He wondered how much longer she could pull the strings to his heart before they would finally break, slightly chuckling at this idea. Oh how he adored her.
"Lovely as the sun and the moon," his words seemed choked…more with pride then anything. He hated this not they created, the giant rift between him and her…yet the uncontrollable fatherly love they demanded. "Fine ladies they shall make…I didn't think any other wolf could match the beauty of their mother." His nose dabbed Ravii's mussel in a passive loving move.
Her next words caught him in mid breath. Had he been human, he would have found himself flushed with red upon two cheeks. Eros was truly a sucker for compliment, feeding his already enlarged ego.
He didn't say anything at first, just nodded…wishing witty words would come to his blank head.
"Lovely girls," he choked, pausing for a second…attempting to stay emotionally detached. "Coming from a lovely mother, deserve a lovely name…" He grinned playfully at her, golden eyes sparkling.
"A name only an angel would know…" He prodded her lovingly.

Ravii swelled with pride, though fatigue was fast taking its toll. Her body was sore, her tongue was dry, and she wanted nothing more than to drift in to a peaceful sleep with her family at her side.
Her thoughts lingered on the thought - a family, her family. She remembered very little of her puphood, of her origins. SOmetimes she remembered rain, mud, thunder - she remembered a fall, and crying out for her pack. Sometimes she even thought she had memories of warm fur and comforting bodies - but whether or not that was real or purely imagined, the female couldn't say.
How long had she yearned for a family. . .? For support and unconditional love of those around her. How many years had she kept away lonely nights with such beautiful dreams. . .
Too many. And yet tonight, here with Eros, her beloved, she feared lonliness no more. Her dreams had come true, all thanks to the golden eyed, sweet-spoken male.
Shifting her position, she cuddeled closer to Eros, enjoying the tough of his body against hers. She kept the dead son between her paws, the nameless one, but tired blue eyes frequently checked back on the puppies. How beautiful they were. . .
Eros was right - they would make fine ladies, and already outshone her own light. They were perfect, unflawed, and would forever be loved. Sighing happily, Ravii craned her neck and gave Eros a tender lick on his chin and cheek. Blue eyes glowed with adoration, and a bright smile faught off exhaustion as she smiled up at her love.
"I've had a lot of time to think over the spotted ones name," she admitted, turning away from Eros to affectionately lick the little pup. It was their first daughter, the eldest of them all. "What do you think of the name Mayrii?"
She'd though of Eros' name, as well as her own, but somehow down the path of combining such names she'd stumbled across Mayrii. . . and liked it. But after settling on such a name, she had trouble thinking past any names that weren't Mayrii. It rolled nicely off the tongue, and was as delicate as the infant pup.
"I'd like you to pick a name. . .one you can be happy with too," she laughed softly before leaning back against her red furred love. Her head rested gently upon his shoulder, and she tried to keep fatigue away from her weary bones.
It was good that the pregnancy was over. . . but the night had been long. The puppies weren't the only ones who had struggled.

Eros watched the female lovingly, his golden orbs following every movement, and his heart beating with hers. The love in her eyes, the passion in her soul was irresistible, and despite these demons they have created, he still adored her. In fact, some of those moments he could have sworn he'd seen double the amount of love for these tiny creatures then anything else.
Love was contagious, and he couldn't help but to bask in it. His mind almost slipping away until he caught it with a single thought; puppies.
Even this, a love, a passion, was not worth the price.
The crimson wolf nodded, blinking an approval as he nudged Ravii both lovingly, and supportively. He loved any words that came out of her mouth, in fact she could have said she was going to name the puppy 'Ratfaster' and he'd still sit there smiling, nodding.
Although he found himself surprised when the tables turned, and she asked him for a name. He had tried so far to separate himself from the puppies, not to attach, not to care…and now she was asking him to make one of the most defining choices in their lives? He sat the buzzed and confused by his heart, knowing he'd want nothing more but to just let his mate make the decision, and run away, and knowing that if he did, he'd break her heart.
"Um…" Eros' normally deep rich voice faltered, his mind wandering. "I like the name Amarii, it reminds me of a certain someone who I love more then life." He nudged her again, grinning before his eyes shifted to the girls.
It was the start of an odd relationship.

Ravii basked in the love of her mate and her puppies. The little ones had finished eating, and both were curled up together, sleep claiming them for the rest of the morning.
The cream and violet wolfess smiled sleepily as Eros made his decision, her blue eyes admiring his happy form. Was he glowing as much as she was? Maybe . . . oh, she hoped she'd made him proud with their brood! The start of their very first litter.
Nothing could ruin the joy in her heart. Who would have believed that a chance meeting would lead to this? Two daughters, and a ever loving mate. If someone would have told Ravii that this was how her life would wind up, she never would have believed them.
And yet, strangely enough, it DID happen. She never had to fear lonely nights again.
Cuddling close to Eros, her blue eyes gleamed in adoration. "Oh, you are too good to me," she swooned, affectionate whine in her throat. She was the luckiest wolf alive to have such a loving, affectionate wolf in her life. And one who had given her such wonderful children.
She would never, ever forget Eros. He had picked her up when she hadn't even realized her spirits were down - he had filled her life, changed her heart, completely, forever.
"Mayrii and Amarii," she repeated their daughters name, giving a little smile. Reaching over, she picked up the sleeping form of Mayrii. Turning her head, she deposited the small puppy in to Eros arms. She did the same with Amarii, the two newborns quickly returning to their blind slumber thanks to Eros warmth.
"Go on," she encouraged warmly, reaching over to affectionately nuzzle the male. "Get to know your daughters. . . ." Resting her head on her forpaws, Ravii watched happily. The wolves in her life - the most important and the best of the best.
Of course, one moment, then two, and the cream wolf drifted in to a sleep herself. The warmth of the den, the exhaustion of the night previous, and the comfort of Eros' presence made it far too easy to slip in to a deep slumber.
She feared not her newborns safety. Eros was a good wolf, and would protect them all if need be.
Secure in their little den, Ravii slept, and dreamt of wonderful things.
