So I realized the other day that I couldnt play my old Pokemon Silver game on my DS Lite. This saddened me.
I COULD play it on my SP, but I'm way too cool for that.

I need YOU to tell me:

1) What Pokemon game to get
2) How recent it is
3) Why I should get it
4) Most importantly, WILL IT PLAY ON MY DS LITE?

I want DETAILED responses, though. None of this 'lol i lyk sentret' s**t.
I mean yeah, I like sentret too, but what the ********, thats not what I asked you.

Thanks for any help offered -^w^-

Lol xD
I can imagine the looks on their faces when I waltz in, ask to see one of many Pokemon games in the case, then say "I'm going to borrow this, I'll be back in a few hours" and then just prance out.
So no, no I cant.
I think the staff might get so pissed off with giving me a new one every 10 minutes that they'd kick me out, even though I'm on really good terms with my local EB staff. I go out with them to sushi.
Hate sushi. Yakitori, on the other hand...
But anyway, no. Definetely not, as much as I'd like to.

But i was allowed to test the new DS and such a week before release so it can't hurt to ask them, as long as you stay in the store and be there. Just try and see if it loads up on your DS.

By what you're asking for, here is my opinion.

1. If you're looking for a newer version wit hall that oldschool goodness, I suggest Pokemon FireRed or LeafGreen.

2. It's fairly new and the graphics are very well handled with a 3-d feel that doesn't take away from the charm of the classic scenery.

3. I just think it's a good choice because it allows you that nastalgia while still being recent enough to trade with the newest releases. Just think, now you can play Diamond and Pearl while still having that old school Charizard or Venasaur you so sorely missed.

4. Yes. I believe it's a GBA game and a DS Lite should, by all rights, have a slot for that. The original DS did, so it would really be a sep back should that have been removed to make it slimmer.

That's probably according to region. I live in Augusta and testing games has never been offered in either Gamestop OR EbGames. True, they have a test Wii and an X-box system set up, but as for GBA, DS, and other games that save to the cartridge rather than a memory card, it would really be a pain in the a** to have to delete older files just so some one else can test it. sweatdrop As for testing the system, they still don't really allow you to pick what game you get to play on there. I believe it's hooked up to a specified, preset title that can only be changed if the entire thing was dismounted.

If you want new, go for Pokemon FR,LG, or Emerald. Or you can wait for 4/22 for D/P to come out

So far, out of six replies, ONE of them has answered what I asked in an informative manner.

I asked a RL friend about this the other day and mentioned Fire Red and Leaf Green. What they had said about those two games was that they were just the japanese originals that had been translated into english.
confused Not sure I want those ones, then. I want new and cool, but also very much the same Pokemon as Silver and Gold were. Where you had a party of Pokemon, you went around beating gym leaders, you captured new Pokemon, there were some dungeons and stuff and then you beat the Elite Four or its equivalent and you were done.
Simple but classic.

Silver and Gold introduced the new strain of pokemon, if I remember correctly, and both had the same concept of gameplay as all of the games in the series follow. FireRed and LeafGreen still have those concepts, but if those just aren't your thing than I may just have to suggest waiting another month for Diamond and Pearl. True - there are differences, but you still explore a large world, you still collect pokemon - some even from Gold and Silver, as well as the games before that -, and you will still face the gym leaders of that region before moving ahead towards the greater challenge. At the same time, there's still that lovely aspect of defeating evil.
I'm not too sure on the specifics, but from what I can tell: you, the hero, will be solely responsible for finding out the motives and thwarting the plans of a rogue organization known as Team galaxy. As to what these people are after or why they're stirring up trouble, I couldn't honestly tell you. Still, it's always nice to have those little sidequirks mixed in for extra gameplay.

Edit: If that's too far up there to wait, Ruby and Saphire can also do you right. I think they have pokemon from Silver and Gold, but I can't say for absolutely sure. Anyways, it does new features, a few new surprises, and still tride and true to the formula that's made these games great.

If that still doesn't sattisfy you, than check out this site. I normally don't link, but it's a good and safe site that has everything you'd ever need to know about Pokemon, old and new. http://www.serebii.net/
They also have game information, anime synopsis, pokedex....just the works.

I hope that will help you find the game you're looking for.

I loved Silver and Gold. However, if you want something for your DS, you'll have to try Ruby and Sapphire, FireRed and LeafGreen, Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire Edition, Pokemon Ranger, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red and Blue Rescue Teams, Diamond and Pearl, Pokemon Dash, or the puzzle game for the DS which name I forgot sweatdrop Anyway, only DS and GBA games will play on any DS period. I can't really recommend, though since I don't have a DS and I've only played the 1st 3 groups I mentioned. BTW FireRed and LeafGreen are remakes of the original Red and Blue 3nodding

You should get Pokemon Emerald. In my opinion, it's the best yet. The pokemon contests are amusing, secret bases are too fun, and I just find the Hoenn region to be the most interesting region yet.

It's not too old- Emerald came out after Firered and Leafgreen, if I remember correctly. It's like Ruby and Sapphire, but with a little bit more. It's like Crystal is to the Gold/Silver/Crystal trio.

And yes, it will play on your DS lite.
