...manga artists and writers decide midway through the series to alter the storyline a little, in this case, changing the name of a character, their status or whatever. For instance, you buy a manga, volume one, it explains, once upon a time there was a boy, he had a brother named Bob. Nothing out of the ordinary right? Till that is you get volume 10 where it's midway throught the series, and guess what!? Bob is not Bob!? Bob is now Steve! The characters traits and characteristics are all there but the name!? My point? And WTF this has to do with the Negima series? In Volume 1 Negi says that Asuna reminds him of his sister, Anya right, her hair and everything? Well in a background image or something, it shows a picture of a blonde girl. We can then presume, oh so that's his sister. Then we move on to a few volumes. Negi is at Evangelines resort and tells Asuna his story via telepathic imagery. There it shows his suppoused sister, the blonde haired girl from before, but then he starts to say that the girl with the reddish hair is his sister, Anya and the blonde girl as his cousin!!!!! Flip a few pages ahead and Negi's father also calls her "cousin". I don't understand! Is the red head girl who looks so much like Negi, (not to mention hangs around him a lot in flashbacks) or the blonde haired "cousin" his sister? Or are they both sisters!? Dammit Akamatsu! You've left me with a conundrum on my hands!!!!!

Blonde girl is Nekane, and she is Negi's cousin, but Negi has always thought of her as a big sister, and calls her that instead of cousin. Red-head aka Anya, is just Negi's childhood friend, they aren't related seeing as it seems like she might have a thing for him.

Yeah, it's as Elle said, Nekane is Negi's cousin, but he calls her sister. Anya is not a blood-relation to either of them; you may have misread a line somewhere. Also, considering the ages of Nekane and Nagi, that would be pushing the envelope just a little for them to be father and daughter.

Alright guys thanks! I"m straight on characters now! 'Cept I don't remember them statin blondie's name in the manga! Is this something found in the anime? Cause welll i don't watch the anime.

I believe you have stumbled upon one of Negima's "lost in translation" issues (the Nekane/Oneechan thing) -- courtesy of Del Rey translator for the first couple of volumes.
Nekane (cousin) acts like an older sister (oneechan), therefore is called "oneechan". I have no idea where Anya was called his sister, but she and Negi are indeed just childhood friends.
BTW, Ku:Nel is actually just Colonel. I don't believe that magazine reference is legit (esp. after that KFC reference in ch. 163).
