Physical Description: Very short in stature creating the illusion that she is quite younger than she really is. Her skin, which is of a milky white hue, also misleads those who care to look at her, causing her to look sickly and weak. It is a wonder she has anyone warming her bed at night with those features. She has large brown almond shaped eyes that show a glint of intelligence, and long tawny hair that she keeps messily knotted back at the nape of her neck. She's relatively "dirty" but it is mainly because she is kept busy with the younger occupants of the weyr.
Personality: Lost in fantasy and having "short man's complex" is the only way to describe Layn. Her short stature forces her to try and overcompensate with intelligence and wit. Known to get so lost in thought and fantasy that she must almost be literally shaken back to reality. She tries her best to portray an air of importance, but for the most part fits her occupation. A child, near adulthood who hops beds for information about dragons and other affairs in the Weyr at night and chases brats during the day. She uses her sexuality as a tool against people who will be tempted by flesh. (Don't worry, I know Gaia is PG13, been here for awhile and wouldn't do anything to jeopardize my account! Sexual context will be limited/minimal.) Many of these traits will change over time.
History: Layn is the daughter of a woman who changed Dragonrider's beds faster than most people change clothes, she is unquestioningly born of Weyr blood, but who's blood is the problem. She is usually lost in fantasies that she is from a high ranked father and that he will come and sweep her away from her life working in the lower caverns. She spends her days caring for younger weyrbrats, and her nights following in her mother's footsteps. She is head strong and quick to tell others how she sees what is happening in a situation. Her entire demeanor and nature comes back to wanting to be like her unknown father, she longs to have a connection with a dragon, or at least work along side them. She assumes that if she shows she is strong enough mentally then it will make up for her physical attributes.
Like most people in a Weyr she has come to respect dragons and riders, making her yearning to have a connection with a dragon all the stronger. Her background with healing is nil, unless you count drudgework bringing pots and anything a healer fancies. This again goes along with her fantasizing behavior. She assumes that because she has the blood of someone, anyone else running through her veins that she would be very good at any occupation.
