Let me put you to sleep, my dear! I was thinking about this idea for a long time. And decided that it was a better idea to develop than my previous because of the restrictions on the Dead tree due to the fact that I pulled it from a comic of mine.
Besides, the Sandman is way more interesting! ::wink wink::

Oh, take me away to Dreamland~!
Name: Qas Vixsto Gender: Male Spirit: the Sandman! Eyes: Misty dreamy dark blues swirling around a crescent moon shaped pupil. Hair: The style of it may change whenever he so chooses; how that happens even he doesn't know. [Depends on mood perhaps?] He prefers it to be somewhat waving up at the back of his head and longer strands in the front curling out at the ends and often times braided. But the color is something else, it has always been and shall remain a faded black with shocking blue streaks. Skin: Pale, pale, pale! Possibly even paler than the moon? With a dark glimmering undertone reflecting the night. His limbs luminating a bright white which tends to be most visible at night. Body: Though he is rather on the skinny side, his body is like an athlete's. His foolish manner may blind you to the fact that he is quite strong. Style: He prefers dark shades of any color and designs of moons and clouds especially. Most of the time you will see him in his wispy pajamas that seem to desire being away from his body revealing various places of skin around the tummy, shoulders and ankles. He goes no where without his little nightcap, which is a shimmering cerulean type blue, almost camouflaging to the effect of appearing to be made of water, and a star that swims in and out of view on different spots of the cap. But as he gets older, his style along with his personality slowly gravitates in a different direction. Piercings: An upper ring shaped like waves colliding on his right ear and he has thought about a lip piercing for the fun of it [of course when he's older].
Background: Folklore! Likes: Loves to sing melodies and lullabies when no one is around. Loves to make people smile. The moon, the sky, the stars, the clouds. Day-dreaming in the shade on sunny days. Tea parties and bees. [He thinks they're funny.] SURPRISES. Dislikes: On some occasions you'll see his great dislike for the sun in a hilarious over-dramatic act of pretending to melt, sizzle, and all that other good stuff. He doesn't like eating flowers. [Could you imagine that?] The 'law'. [He scoffs at it, apparently.] Tidbit: He has a hidden split-personality of Nightmare; he doesn't even know it yet. : (
Abilities: Well, he's the Sandman spirit! And he can put you to sleep with an enchanting dust that comes from the palm of his hand! Not only can he create a shiney dust-like sand, he can pull things from his nightcap as if it were a magician's top hat. But what he pulls out could be anything, at his young stages he is unable to control what he pulls out and as he grows older he learns that the nightcap is linked to his mind. So basically whatever he thinks he wants to pull out, he'll actually pull out! Ruining the surprise in other words, but people won't know that. So Sssshhh! One very special gift is he can shrink to pocket-travel size! So if you would like to take him places without others knowing, its perfect! But beware, he may also use this for spying. ::wink wink:: And NO he is not a perv. He's quite the gentleman when he grows older, thank you very much! Another ability that isn't able to develop until much later is the power to control a dreamer's dream. But even before that he can peek into people's minds, like a ghost walking in and out. He can also float, zoom, fly [if you will] around but not really high to the point of going into space. He can disappear and reappear in short distances, leaving dust particles behind in an illuminating manner. Personality: As a child, he is a wild fun and freedom-loving spirit, going where he wants when he wants. Enjoying the normal things any child would! ... Well sort of. Sitting on the ceiling eating dust and pretending to ride around on an invisible duckie is normal...? Anywho. This one is quite the handful as a kid, you can barely hold him down for 2 minutes! Always slipping off for adventures and excitement; often he's always either floating around, asking too many questions, or playing little jokes. Laid-back, relaxed and having endless bounds of energy; he is up for any challenge! Socially awkward? He's anything but! He is built for tumbling rolling and making trouble all around. But don't be fooled by his outer image, he's got a soft side too! A very soft side if you manage to trek through the outer swamps of his mind, for that matter. Sentimental and dreamy, he's got the charm and magic of a skilled magician. Though some may find his butting in unwelcome at times, he somehow manages every time to help you out if you didn't even ask for it; in whatever odd way he chooses. As he gets older, he matures in a very strange way and you could probably describe him as the class clown: romantic, sweet, sensual and CRAZY!

This is more than I ever bargained for...! Not that I even bargained...
Name: Fish Coire [People call him Coire, just cause its cooler like that.] Gender: Male Age: 19 Eyes: The typical brown of everyday. Hair: Short, scruffy and grey black, but long enough in the back to tie a stylish and messy ponytail. Skin: Peachy flesh tone, pretty ordinary. A few freckles on his neck and face. Body: Lanky, but not extremely tall. Could be classified as the class weirdo. Style: Hoodies, jeans, converse. Average, almost. Piercings: 3 in total.
Background: Was raised and still lives with his widowed mother, his pop passed away when he was 7. An only child going to the local city college studying animation. Likes: He's a dork for anime and any kind of comic. He likes his alone time, since he doesn't make friends at school much. Eating and sleeping, since college students don't get much of that. Music, mostly rock and anime or game music. Dislikes: Being hassled about work. Noisey loud neighbors. Always worrying about Qas. Feeling lonely. Tidbit: Has nightmares every night up until the meeting of Qas.
Personality: One word: dork. He's quirky and labelled the oddball in school cause he doesn't do things conventionally, which is good in his case because he certainly won't be able to once Qas comes into his life! He might complain a whole lot about absolutely everything, but he doesn't honestly mean it. He's got the squishy-est biggest warm heart ever, no matter what that angry scowl might be telling you [usually this is directed towards Qas]. He doesn't have the nerve to be mean or get in people's faces, consistently passive in arguments. But when it comes to getting things done, he's on it. He's got his schedules and plans and he's always on time. When things don't go according to plan, he might freak out. Explaining the major freaking out when Qas explodes into his life, the little giggling bundle of dust. If there were one thing Coire could learn, its to just go with the flow and mellow out. It is easy to tell that he is Qas' opposite in personality. His insecurities and low self-esteem shine through when least appreciated and wonders often about who he is and can be. History: At first when he gets stuck with Qas, he didn't know what in the world to do with him. He is only 19 for cryin' out loud! And before Qas arrived, life was good.... Real good... [No, not really. He was miserable.] Eventually Qas grows on him and he learns how to be a good parent just like his mother was to him. But before all the big hullabaloo over the dusty white-glowing child, he was a lonely kid. His mother barely scraping them by with her broken jobs; they were never in much luck. He is a humble kid and never asks for much; a kid traumatized by the death of his father. Thats understandable, isn't it...?

Papa, I can't sleep tonight...Representation in traditional folklore Traditionally he is a character in many children's stories, invoked to help (or lull) children to sleep. He is said to sprinkle sand or dust on or into the eyes of the child at night to bring on dreams and sleep. The grit or 'sleep' (rheum) in one's eyes upon waking is supposed to be the result of the Sandman's work the previous evening. Ole-Lukøie, one of Hans Christian Andersen's more obscure folk tales, told of the different dreams the Sandman gave to a young boy in a week. E.T.A. Hoffmann wrote an inverse depiction of the lovable character in a story called Der Sandmann, which showed how sinister such a character could be made. According to the protagonist's nurse, he threw sand in the eyes of children who wouldn't sleep, with the result of those eyes falling out and being collected by the Sandman, who then takes the eyes to his iron nest on the moon, and uses them to feed his children. The protagonist of the story grows to associate this nightmarish creature with the genuinely sinister figure of his father's associate Coppelius. I was here... But then I wasn't...? I got lost, the moon told me so.
Qas' "Disappearance": the Time Before
Surely every night you sleep well and dream well you never really think it might be the Sandman's doing. And surely many grown-ups don't even believe the Sandman because they are 'too old' or too 'mature' for childish hoo-ha. But the honest truth of it all is that for a very long, long time he happened to 'disappear'. Let's see... Disappear, does that mean die? Does that mean he went someplace, perhaps travelling? What exactly does 'disappear' mean?
dis·ap·pear /ˌdɪsəˈpɪər/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[dis-uh-peer] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –verb (used without object) 1. to cease to be seen; vanish from sight. 2. to cease to exist or be known; pass away; end gradually: One by one the symptoms disappeared. [compliments of dictionary.com]
I guess that clears the situation up. Right? No, not really. Cease to exist... That must mean he existed for all those non-believers, but how could someone prove that if he had 'vanished from sight '? Being disappeared must mean more questions. Was it a choice? How did it happen? More importantly... Why? End gradually? Does that mean he's in danger, and if so, who could possibly save him? All these questions are very good and all, but the real 'story' begins here. In the questions. And well, I guess its not really a story now is it? Its the truth.
A good place to start is the day that it happened. Or, even better. The night before. It was a foreshadowed occurence, which Qas [our dear Sandman] was unfortunate enough not to realize immediately. Actually, he didn't realize at all until it was too late to go back. You see, Qas was on his nightly runs around the world and he had stopped someplace in China for some reason or other. And he was sitting on the roof of a family who had about 10 or so sons, only one of which was having difficulty sleeping. He was just about to go and sprinkle some of his sand when rather abruptly his friend, the Moon went out. Like a light before bed time, the Moon seemed to have turned off and Qas had no idea why. So he called out to his friend "Moon! Moon! What's wrong, dear friend?" and he recieved no reply. Worried, he lifted off the roof into the pitch black sky in the direction in which his friend had gone out until very abruptly the Moon turned back on. Now, the small child inside that could not sleep had directed his attention very quickly to the flash of moonlight going and coming from his window. Looking around skeptically at his brothers [who were sleeping in the same room], he got out of bed and peered out the window up at the sky. And what was he to see? The Sandman's silhouette against the now shining Moon who was asking the Moon whatever was the matter. Of course the child didn't know what was going on, and...

*bite* love this quest! lol, but the word sandman always takes me back to metallica. Could be a good thing, but it really doesn't go with Qas biggrin
Love the concept anyway, and I can't wait to see a ew concept sketches of him/
