Chenza felt utterly...odd. Her pups had all grown up and asserted themselves, becoming wanderers just like her, and just like their father. She worried about how the boys would turn out in the world, how Jibanza would fare being such a young girl in a world full of big lions. Now she understood why her mother was so upset to see her leave.
Yet there was nothing she could do; they were adults now, or nearly so, and they knew how to hunt. The only thing she could do was travel to her favorite water hole and relax, as she was doing now.
The orange wild dog scanned the horizon for signs of another life form, hoping to engage in conversation. When three little voices talking to her everyday had vanished, Chenza finally realized how lonely wandering truly was.

Certainly one of the oddest looking Wild Dogs to have been spotted recently, Ianthe was blissfully ignorant of what the world thought of her. Everything to her was a game, was fun, was happy! So she skipped along on the warm grasses on the plains, aimlessly wandering as she herself had done her whole life. Nothing was better then meeting new souls!
Her heart skipped a beat when she saw it. Water! She froze for a moment, excited to see that there was something to quench her thirst. SHe hardly noticed that she was thirsty, but once her pink eyes caught the glimmering surface, she squeaked with glee before trotting over to it, expectantly.
It seemed just right, and she bent down to take a drink. And while though her mannerisms were anything but calm, she gingerly took a drink, just enough to satisfy herself, and nothing more. She had been taught to be kind to others, and also make sure that everyone had enough for everything, and those habits had never broken, even with her years of aimless wanderings.
Her ears perked up, her head soon following, as she heard movement. "What was that?" her sweet voice chimed across the water's surface. She wasn't scared, but generally spoke what she thought, and was half-expecting the water to tell her just what it was.

Hmmm...well, when she was looking for something to engage in conversation, Chenza wasn't exactly expecting a purple and green wild dog, which was slightly unusual even given Chenza's bright orange fur. Still, she wasn't going to turn down the opportunity to make a new friend, even if this potential friend talked to the water.
"That was Chenza the wild dog moving her head," she said as she emerged from the grass, taking the purple stranger's question as it was. Then, as if realizing an information gap, she added, "I'm Chenza the wild dog. Who are you?"

"Ooooh!" The wild dog bounced around to face the new stranger, her pink eyes curiously studying her. Her ears swiveled around as she listened to the orange dog, nodding when this Chenza asked a question. "Yes yes, Ianthe is my name!" She sat herself down, her tail swishing on the ground in pleasure.
"Good to meet you. Did you come here for a drink too? It tastes very nice, makes me feel all happy inside." Her tongue lolled out of her mouth as she panted, her joy in meeting another very apparent.

Chenza was a bit taken aback by the enthusiasm of the other wild dog, wondering just how crazy this girl was as a puppy. After a moment of inner counting her blessings that she had calm children, she said, "It's nice to meet you, Yesyesianthe. The water here is very nice; this is one of my favorite places to relax."
"Actually, I came here to think, and hopefully meet someone to talk to," Chenza continued, "All of my pups have grown up and left to go explore the world, so I'm on my own again."

...oops. Ianthe did it again. SHe had a habit of speaking a bit too fast when she was excited. She closed her eyes, took in a deep breath, and held it for a moment before letting it go. She had to calm down enough to be tolerable...right?
"Oops. I'm sorry. I get really excited really easily and talk too fast," her pace wasn't quite matching common speed, but it was slower then how she spoke earlier. "I'm Ianthe, and I was just wadering around when I found the watering hole. It's really really pretty~" Her speed picked up a bit at the end, but she pushed her energy down to save for later, when she was alone.
"...pups? Wow! Ianthe hasn't seen pups in forever...that's so cool." She loved pups, thought that they were the most fun things around. She did latch on the part that they had grown up, but that didn't always mean that they were...old-like, right?

The orange wild dog laughed. "Well then, it's a pleasure to meet you, Ianthe. Unfortunately, you won't see pups if you happen to see my children. They're all about as big as us now, and are off wandering in directions unknown. I have a feeling you'd be a good friend to my Kijini'leli if you ever meet him; he's always been an excited child, though you'll have to be careful that he doesn't pull a prank on you."
"But anyway, you're welcome to stay here for as long as you'd like. I could use the company, and there's plenty of water for all."

"...prank?" That was a new word to the wild dog, and it didn't sound too pleasant either. She didn't worry too much about it, but she might just have to investigate and find out what this 'prank' really was.
She quickly turned her attention back to her new friend, offering a nod and a soft bark. "Yes, I would like that a lot! And I've had enough water for now, but talking is always good." Her tail thumped on the ground before she began to speak again. "So you don't see your kids anymore?"

"No, they've all gone to do their own thing, just as I did when I was their age." Chenza said. "Now things are really wierd, because I used to wander on my own like you seem to be doing, and I was happy just talking to other wanderers. Then the children came...a surprise, I can assure you...and now that they're gone, I'm starting to wish that I had settled down with a permanent mate. But that's dangerous talk, that..."
The orange wild dog shook her head and started to laugh. "But that's enough of my life story. What made you decide to wander?"

"...dangerous?" She was unsure as to what would be dangerous. Her own parents, though startled by her strange, unmatching coloured pelt, seemed content with being together. She shook her head, letting the thought dissolve. Mother always said that others do things for strange reasons, but you should never question it. She didn't apologize for what she said, but instead pounced on the chance to talk about herself. Not that her life was exciting, but one always knew one subject best; themselves!
"Well, I grew up in a small family...kind of stuck out from the rest of them, but they loved me anyway. I don't really remember why I left...I guess because I got too old to really be sticking by my parents. So I've just been wandering for a while, and it's a lot of fun! I really like meeting up with nice dogs like you!" She beat her tail again, a silly smile on her face before picking her words back up again. "But I kind of hope to find a home someday, one that's my own. And then I can make it all pretty, and flowery, and hopefully it'll have a nice water hole like this by it too!"
She nodded to herself, liking her plan. She liked pretty things, and if she did decide to live somewhere, she'd make it so pretty that she would never want to leave it.

"Perhaps this wandering is part of being a wild dog," Chenza said. "I don't remember why I left either. But it sounds like you are ahead of me, for you have a destination that you wish to reach." A place with flowers that was pretty and had a water hole? "I suppose that someday I will find a home as well. I'm not sure about flowers, as I'm afraid that either I or one of my children would ruin them, but if it has a water hole like this, I'll be content. I think I would like to visit your home when you find it, though. I promise I would be extra careful around the flowers."
Yes, thoughts such as these were wonderful; it gave Chenza a new enthusiasm as she spoke, and her tail wagged at the thought this home they were discussing.

Ianthe did her best not to bounce. Oh, to have a visitor at her beloved home? That would be fantastic! The wild dog was perhaps getting a little too ahead of herself. She didn't even know where to start looking for a place to live, let alone start building up her home to be the pretty thing that she wanted it to be.
"That would be so coool. I'm...I'm sure that the flowers might die, 'cause I've never tried to make them grow, but I wouldn't give up, and make it all pretty for you to smile!" She noticed that the other wasn't as perky as Ianthe herself was, and wanted to help make her smile. Ianthe loved being happy, and did her best to make everyone else happy, too.

Someone wanted to make her smile? Well, that was something she hadn't heard in a long time, and it did make the orange wild dog smile. "That would be wonderful, Ianthe! Sometimes flowers die no matter what we do, but then new flowers just grow in their place. I'll bet you'll have the best flowers in the world." she said, completely truthful. Really, the other reminded her of a flower; she was certainly perky and happy enough to be one. It only made sense that someone so happy would bring happiness to others.

Ianthe dipped her purple head down to get another drink, her pink tongue sloppily gathering up the water. Normally she was polite and quiet, but she was much too excited now to worry about her own image and mannerisms. She soon popped her head back up, letting the air fill up her lungs again. She was so excited! Something to do with her life! Now she jsut had to find that perfect place...
"The best flowers for all of my friends that visit," she perked up, her voice a bit more calm now that her stomache was full of water and quite content. "I'm so happy that you like the idea though, Chenza!"

"I more than like the idea," Chenza said. "I love it."
The orange wild dog stared at the ripples in the water for a long moment, as if pondering something of great importance. "Thank you, Ianthe," she said. "You have given me something new; a hope for life after having children. In fact, it makes me want to go exploring again; I haven't done that in a long time."
She stared off at the horizon for a long moment, judging what could be out there. "On that note, I will not keep you longer, for I have something to search for myself. I will visit your flowers someday; on that you have my promise." Then, without another word, she disappeared into the grass.
((Thanks for the RP! ^_^ Feel free to write a closing post if you want to.))
