Name: Syleti
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Height: 5' 3"
Craft: Woodcrafter
Rank: Apprentice
Pets: Tidus (blue firelizard)
Sexual Appeal: Hetero, POSSIBLY Bi
Traits: Firey, enthusiastic, stubborn, smartass, foulmouth.
Physical Description: Syleti is, well, kinda short. She has a slender figure, with sort of squared shoulders and a long torso. She's curvy, and not afraid to flaunt it on select days. Most of the time, however, she prefers loose-ish, comfortable clothing. She favors the colors blue and green, and most of her tunics are various shades of either color. She has wavy dark brown hair that remains impossible to straighten (as Pern has no hair dryers that I know of--NO, using your dragon is NOT an option). Syleti's not big on fixing her hair, preferring to just tie it back or leave it loose. She has a high forehead with an oval-shaped face and dark brown eyes, ending in a chin that dimples if she's grinning too hard. A huge handful of freckles cross the bridge of her nose, which is upturned and, although not big, is far from small. Syleti was lucky to out-grow the teenage acne around 15 turns of age. She burns easily at the start of summer, but after a painful peeling process she appears quite tan.
Personality: Syleti is a laid-back, yet firey kind of girl. She's known for her procrastination, yet she has the uncanny ability to get everything done on time and in a presentable manner. She possesses a very dry sense of humor, and has a sharp, sarcastic tongue. She's a little shy around new people, but once the ice is broken she's extremely outgoing and friendly. She feels it's her duty to give her friends a good laugh- at least once a day. Although she's shown a kind patience toward animals (barring Tidus when he's being particularly mischeivous), Syleti has very very little tolerence for younger children. She can't stand them, and if they try to test her, she -will- snap. People often mistake her explanations as smart-alecky excuses, and this frustrates her beyond anything else. Syleti does possess a flaring anger, which has the potential to be covered up by tears if she doesn't keep tight control (much to her dismay). She loves to flirt with any male, whether she has an interest in them or not--she adores the attention. When it comes to trying something new, Syleti is sometimes a bit hesitant. If it was her idea, however, she's all go; if she doesn't want to do it, however, be warned--she will -not- do it. She has a large stubborn streak and is quite proud of it. ^.^ On the friend side, Syleti seems to know everyone. So watch out...she knows what you did last Fall! (*groans* Sorry for the horrible pun.) She keeps two or three extremely close friends, one or two of those usually being male.
History: Syleti grew up as the eldest daughter of two Journeyman Woodcrafters at Rias Hold. She was a very rough-and-tumble little girl, never in any way interested in frills and girly things. She prided herself on 'being one of the boys' and was often the winner of small scuffles. Her sister couldn't have been more different, and was very indignant at having her older sibling be the way she was. Syleti hit puberty like a brick wall. The change was quite sudden, as she went from Hold-wide tomboy to Hold-wide flirt. Before she got a good chance to make a good impression on the boys however, she was apprenticed to her parents at age 14. There went freedom. Syleti took an instant liking to the Woodcraft, fortunately. She was fond of whittling and wood carving and understood the importance of the different types of trees. She was a quick learner and well-liked among the Hall. She made numberous wooden statues of various subjects, which were sold at Gathers for good prices (for Apprentice's work, anyways). She was a bit disappointed when Searched, but shrugged it off and dove into Candidacy with her usual enthusiasm. After Standing once with no success, she passed the time at the Weyr until Ariath's next clutch hatched, when green Erith chose her for her own.

The Dragon

Name: Erith
Age: Hatchling
Personality: Erith is a highly competitive little green, which is often apparent in training and play. She thinks she's the prettiest, fastest, and smartest dragon around, and woe to anyone who doubts! While her arrogance creates the occasional fuss, it's more or less tolerated as the hatchling does her best to make reality match her opinion.

Name: Tidus
Age: 1 Turn.
Personality: Often a complete and utter nuisance, Tidus is usually getting his nose into some sort of mischief wherever he is. Merrily unresponsive to commands unless he feels like obeying. Syleti combats this by threatening him with some sort of bodily harm if he's not supposed to be with her, causing him to pop between back to wherever he came from. Sweet and cuddly, when he bothers, or is allowed, to stick around.

The Impression

Skies of Pern
HATCHING!

The humming of dragons vibrated around the Weyr. Such a sound was more than enough to get a Weyr inhabitants moving as the corridors began to fill with riders and non-riders hurrying to see what the newest clutch of eggs would bring to the Weyr. Among those was Ephia, the Sr. Weyrwoman of Rias. This clutch had been generous enough to hatch at a fairly decent time of day. The midday sun had just begun to fall from it's peak in the sky when the dragon's voices began to fill the Weyr's caverns. Not caring to wait for the Weyrleader, whom Ephia didn't get along with very well anyway, the Weyrwoman quickly unplaited her hair, stacked the hides she had been looking at on her desk and hurried from her Weyr. Without M'xan and Enelth's aid, getting to the sands would take more time than usual. Ariath was situated in the hatching grounds watching over her brood and wasn't about to leave.
Taking the steps from the Weyr as fast as she could, Ephia managed to make it to the hatching grounds at a fairly reasonable speed. The humming had intensified as dragons began to cluster on the ledges around the sands. People of all sorts had filled the large cavern, all eyes upon the eggs that littered the hot sands. The candidates had already been lined up by the time Ephia managed to make it to the hatching grounds quite out of breath. She took a seat upon the first row as close to Ariath as possible. The small queen looked to her rider and crooned softly causing the dark-haired woman to smile affectionately. "It's a lovely clutch Ariath. I am sure many strong dragons will come from it."
Eyes glazed over the candidates who circled along the sands. Some looked nervous, other's anxious, while a few looked downright confident. Ephia shook her head. She knew what it was like, as did all the other riders among her. Standing upon those sands wasn't the easiest of things to do.
Just as that thought slipped through her mind an egg jostled, causing a small gasp to rise up from the audience. People watched carefully as the egg moved and jostled about but all were surprised when an egg unnoticed on the side hatched first revealing a brown dragonet. The brown tumbled from his egg, sand grains stuck to his wet hide as he righted himself. Once situated and able to take a good look at the candidates, the brown ambled over to a candidate. The smile of the candidates face was bright as the dragonet let the candidate know his name. (Ice_Dragon_Demon's custom brown)
From the rocking egg a rather large bronze hatched. The tiny dragon had been watching as the brown made his choice as the bronze contemplated his own. He moved between two boys as if unsure which he wanted before finally choosing. The bronze sat himself down in front of boy to his left and the two bonded. (Endejester's bronze custom)
Next to hatch was a tiny green. She was certainly smaller than her brothers who were now being escorted from the sands with their new life mates. Unlike her brother's though she knew who she wanted and ran off to her chosen candidate. (This was a custom green by the name of Soneth. I lost information so I don't remember who ordered this dragonet. Could the owner PM me. And yes, I'll remember who it was when I see their name so no one try to snatch her away.)
Two eggs sitting next to one another were the next two to hatch. From the shells tumbled a green and a blue dragonet. The brother and sister paid no attention to each other as both were in tune with whom they wanted as their life mates. The pale blue dragonet had little trouble choosing who he wanted. He hurried over to a young girl or…was it a boy? Ephia couldn't tell from where she was at. The dragonet nearly bowled over the candidate but managed to refrain from doing so and the two bonded. (Freodwyn's blue)
The little green girl who hatched alongside the blue had a bit of trouble choosing. She sat teetering between two candidates, a girl and a boy for quite sometime. Only to be upstaged by another green who had hatched while eyes were on the other. This new green darker than her sister who she sat next to chose a boy just off to the side of her. She rubbed her massive head against his chest before the newly bonded left the sands (Leikkun's green)
The little green only paid her sister a glance before she finally decided upon her bonded. She stumbled to the girl she had been pondering over, nearly falling into the young candidate. (Tisiphone's green)
Next to hatch was another bronze which was much brighter in hue than the first. The bronze burst from his egg with such exuberance that pieces of shell scattered quite a distance from it's initial spot. This dragonet had quite a bit of energy as he made his way across the sands with a little less grace than some of his green sisters. He managed to get himself to where he was going though and stopped in front of another young boy. (Edit's Bronze)
Another blue managed to hatch from his shell just as the bronze chose his bonded and on the other side of the sands a second blue hatched. Their hides were of strongly different shades but these two dragonets knew what they were doing. They scurried across the sands as fast as they could. The splotchy blue male found himself in front of one of the eldest candidates while the brighter blue found himself in front of a young girl. The two bonded simultaneously. (Bane's Blue) (Kachie Kat's blue)
Another brown hatched from it's egg. The dragon moved across the sands slowly, eyeing up the candidates in front of him. Whirling blue eyes passed from one candidate to another unsure. For a moment it almost seemed as if he wouldn't chose anyone until finally his eyes fell upon a young girl. He scurried to her as fast as his new legs would allow him and happily bonded with his new rider. (Tormented Angie's brown)
The hatching continued until finally every new dragonet had found it's rider. The candidates left on the sands were escorted from hatching grounds so they could get out of their white robes and thin sandles as the onlookers began talking excitedly about the hatching events.
Ephia slipped down onto the sands. She moved gingerly past the egg shards and to Ariath. The Weyrwoman smiled at the queen as the golden beast lowered her head. Obligingly, Ephia scratched an eye ridge as the queen crooned softly.
It appeared Rias Weyr would soon have another strong set of wings in the sky.

Syleti shifted nervously upon the heated sands, trying to keep from burning her feet. She knew that they probably wouldn't burn, but shards this sand was hot! But it was what the dragons liked that mattered, especially now of all days. The eggs were rocking and cracking open to spill their precious cargo onto the sands, and cheers went up now and again as each one Impressed.

As time passed, it seemed less and less likely that one of the chosen ones would be her, as each left the sands with their lifemate and the ranks of the unselected grew ever smaller. Little did she know, as the next egg cracked to reveal a vibrant little green, that her luck was about to change.

The little green wailed piteously as she staggered about, wandering across the sands. Where are you?! I'm so hungry...where are you? Finally stopping in front of a Syleti whose eyes were growing bigger and rounder by the second, she happily squeaked, There you are! Sitting down, she looked up expectantly at the teen.

Who, it seems, had just promptly forgotten everything she knew about Hatching and Impressing. Staring in shock and awe, she stood motionless until the green dragonet nudged her hand. Erith is hungry!

"Oh, um, sorry," Syleti stammered. "I'll make sure you get food...it's just...you're really mine?"

You are mine. ...And I am hungry!
