Percival Name: Percival Prowley Nickname(s): Percy Species: human Nationality: English Birthdate: September 11, 1859 (d. 1883) Birthplace: England Occupation: Secretary of the Council of Mages, Assistant Principal at the Liberty Center

Personality:Fastidious, tidy, and impeccably neat, Percival lives by the rules of proper decorum. He's the sort of person who believes everything has its place, and that anything without a place is rubbage and should be discarded.
Background:The son of a maid and a street cleaner and the second of four children, Percival took after his mother from an early age. Protocol and decorum came naturally to him and he started working for the Nightingale family, who also employed his mother, when he was only six. The Nightingale's head butler, who had no children of his own, took Percival under his wing to teach him everything he needed to know to be a highly-respected servant in a noble household. When he was not studying protocol and decorum he was allowed to read in the family's library at the generosity of Lady Nightingale.
Throughout his young life, Percival was the subject of teasing, both from his siblings and the son of Lord Nightingale, James, who was three years Percival's senior. While Percival's siblings were out playing games in the mud (even his sisters) Percival preferred to stay inside and read or conduct teatime.
As James Nightingale learned hunting and riding, Percival polished the wineglasses and organized the antiques. He was extremely fastidious and nitpicky, always taking care in how he presented himself. His siblings and James Nightingale, knowing how much it bothered Percival, would throw dirt clods at him and dirty his shirts and jackets just for the joy of seeing Percival throw a hissy fit.
When he was sixteen and James Nightingale eighteen, James's mother selected Percival for her son's valet. Percival was at first horrified, this being the same boy who had ruined so many of his nice shirts, but James only teased Percival out of friendship (and because, frankly, it was funny) and actually had great affection for Percival. The two could not have been more opposite, but this is precisely what made the combination work. James knew he could count on Percival to have impeccable taste at all times and keep him out of trouble. Percival had an employer who trusted him and considered him indispensable.
The two went everywhere together for the next few years as James courted various ladies and Percival kept James from impugning the honor of said ladies. Finally Percival managed to get his lord engaged to Lady Abbington's daughter, a lovely young lady named Elizabeth. The marriage would be beneficial to both families and Elizabeth was likable enough (if a bit too staid for James, whose tastes more commonly ran towards scullery maids).
A week before the wedding, James and Percival were returning late from a party in honor of the upcoming wedding when James decided to take a shortcut through a bad part of town. The horse turned its leg on a loose cobble and headstrong James decided to go for help, dragging Percival with him. They were accosted by a pistol-wielding man who demanded their valuables. James tried to push the gunman aside and the man fired. Percival pushed James out of the way and was hit by the bullet. When the gunman charged James, James managed to get the pistol, but it misfired and the gunman escaped.
With Percival dying on the street, James swore he would do anything to save his friend's life. A praetor intervened to save Percival. Both James and Percival were recruited into the Fleet. Since James accepted, steadfastly loyal Percival went along.
Upon joining the Fleet Percival was drawn to the immense disarray of the University of Magic. His dimensional alter, Reginald Thrash, was assistant Director. Though Percival possesed no magical abilities, he became an administrative aide at the University, helping to keep things organized. It was a hard job (the chaos of the University was legendary) but Percival managed. While there, he befriended Teqatia Endruis, another nonmagical employee of the University.
After the Conference, Percival took a break from his duties. He took up residence next door to Reginald (And Reg's wife Molly) and relaxed for the first time in months, enjoying his books and tea in peace and quiet. It lasted until the Council of Mages reconvened and Reginald recruited Percival as secretary. The Council decided to investigate the realm known as Gaia. They had come into possession of a scroll from there, and Percival suggested a nonmagical expert examine the artifact. He brought it to his friend Teqatia. The scroll turned out to contain a child, and the whole experience upset Teqatia a great deal. To try and earn her forgiveness, Percival decided to help her with the matter...

Reginald Thrash

Teqatia Endruis

Iuri Gavrilenko
Narcoleptic, insomniac, and the greatest mage in existence. Iuri was born into his powers. He never asked or wanted them. He rarely, if ever, uses his magic in his daily life and despises the flagrant magery most magic-users display. He would much rather have been born a normal human without any powers.
Iuri grew up in foster care. His mother fled the oppressive Republic of Khazaria but was sent back, trading her freedom to try and give Iuri a better future in the Triumnal Confederacy. She left him with a gift: memories of hersalf and his father. Throughout his young life, Iuri clung to those memories, pushing people away lest his precious memories be replaced. When he was fifteen he was tested and found to have the greatest magic ability since perhaps Merlin. He was sent to mage college, where he did abysmally, not wanting to be a mage. After five and a half years they kicked him out mid-semester and pronounced him graduated. He was classed a level nine mage, or weapon of the state. The only benefits for him were free housing and alcohol (alcohol being easily converted to magic energy). He picked an apartment upstairs from a diner thot served alcohol for mages and proceeded to drink himself into oblivion.
He was forced to attend the Centennial Conference of Magic where he met another mage named Natasha. The two fell in love, but after the conference he was unable to find her. Then war broke out between Khazaria and the Triumnal Confederacy and Iuri was forced to the battlefield, where he unknowingly fought Natasha. She died in his arms. Iuri lived as a recluse in the wilderness for several months until being recruited by the Fleet. He joined the University of Magic and lived in quiet obscurity for several months until he was called upon to be the University's director. He resisted at first, but was convinced by Thane Magos and Reginald Thrash to take the position, with their support. He met Percival Prowley and the two became friends. After the Conference, the University was closed, and Iuri thought himself free again, but he was called upon to Co-Chair the budding Council of Mages with Cael Renaeth.
Currently, he lives alone in a lonely, foreboding castle in the Neighborhood. He no longer drinks any alcohol, and also eats very little, which is worrisome to his friends.
James Nightingale
Molly (Morris) Thrash
Descended from a long line of witches and warlocks, Molly Morris was expected to become the next great witch to bear the Morris name, but she turned out to be an abysmal witch. Her spells went constantly awry and never did what they were supposed to. Depressed, she tried to kill herself, but was saved by her younger brother Nigel. Nigel wanted his sister to be happy and swore to find a way to make her magic potent.
They stubled across the Fleet's University of Magic, and both Nigel and Molly were invited to join. There, it was quickly explained that the reason Molly was so poor at magic was that she possessed a rare antimagic ability. Molly suddenly found herself well-regarded, and about as popular as anyone else in the University of Magic. She and Nigel moved their things into the University and became permanent residents, leaving behind their home dimension.
At the University, Molly flourished, and had a chance meeting in the hall with a man named Reginald Thrash. Shy and mousy, she avoided Thrash, but he was intrigued by her antimagic and convinced her to work with him in his research. Thrash developed an affection for her and she for him. They married shortly after the Conference and took up residence in the neighborhood. They are expecting their first child in November.
