Note: I might be using the wrong terms, bare with me.
On my Xbox 360, whenever I try to speak to someone on a channel, a chat invite from a friend or something, I'll attempt to join and wait for a few seconds to join and then the channel becomes empty. This problem didn't occur when I had Xbox Live Gold so I'm wondering if you can only use the chat channels if you have Xbox Live Gold, or am I experiencing a tecnical difficulty? If it's a problem, how could I go about fixing it?

I think it might be a problem with the connection between you and him. Every once and a while I get that problem
