Banner Goes here when I make it

Welcome to my Incantation of the Spirit quest! This started off as a few ideas just bouncing around in my head. After narrowing it down I decided to go with a child that actually decided to create itself in my head without permission.

This is mostly just for me to fix this idea up, add onto it or remove things. Please understand that I'm still setting up things, so this is still under construction. I might be missing a few things until I figure out what I want to fill in.

n European folklore, a dragon is a serpentine legendary creature. The Latin word draco, as in the constellation Draco, comes directly from Greek δράκων, (drákōn, gazer). The word for dragon in Germanic mythology and its descendants is worm (Old English: wyrm, Old High German: wurm, Old Norse: ormr), meaning snake or serpent. In Old English wyrm means "serpent", draca means "dragon". Finnish lohikäärme means directly "salmon-snake", but the word lohi- was originally louhi- meaning crags or rocks, a "mountain snake". Though a winged creature, the dragon is generally to be found in its underground lair, a cave that identifies it as an ancient creature of earth. Likely, the dragons of European and Mid Eastern mythology stem from the cult of snakes found in religions throughout the world.[citation needed]

The dragon of the modern period is typically depicted as a huge fire-breathing, scaly and horned dinosaur-like creature, with leathery wings, with four legs and a long muscular tail. It is sometimes shown with feathered wings, crests, fiery manes, and various exotic colorations. Iconically it has at last combined the Chinese dragon with the western one. Asian dragons are long serpent like creatures which possess the scales of a carp, horns of a deer, feet of an eagle, the body of a snake, a feathery mane, large eyes, and can be holding a pearl to control lightning. They usually have no wings. The dragon was also used as an Imperial symbol. Garments bore embroidered dragons with varying numbers of claws to indicate the wearer's rank: five for an emperor, four for a prince, and three for courtiers of lower rank. In Chinese mythology the dragons were bringers of rain and lived in and governed bodies of water (e.g lakes, rivers, oceans, or seas). From an Asian view dragons were benevolent, but bossy (this strict behavior is why one of China's nicknames is "the Dragon"). In Western folklore, dragons are usually portrayed as evil, with exceptions mainly in modern fiction.

Claimed sightings of dragons persist even in modern times. As recently as 2004 several hundred people claimed to have seen a serpentine, black scaled dragon over thirty feet long and with a horse like head in China's Lake Tianchi. In the same year a Mongolian doctor was said to have seen a green, serpentine dragon with a horse like head coiled up in a well at Bulgan Sum in the Gobi. A very real fear of the Ninki-nanka, a dragon like beast of West Africa, persists among rural people in The Gambia. Some believe the dragon legend may have a basis in a real life reptile as yet unknown to science.

Many modern stories represent dragons as extremely intelligent creatures who can talk, associated with (and sometimes in control of) powerful magic. In stories a dragon's blood often has magical properties: for example in the opera Siegfried it let Siegfried / Sigurd understand the language of the Forest Bird. The typical dragon protects a cavern or castle filled with gold and treasure and is often associated with a great hero who tries to slay it, but dragons can be written into a story in as many ways as a human character. This includes the monster being used as a wise being whom heroes could approach for help and advice, so much so that they resembled Asian dragons rather than European dragons of myth. For example, when German author Michael Ende created a "Luckdragon" in his fantasy novel The Neverending Story and a movie was made based on it, many western audiences were confused as to why a "Luckdragon" had no wings and looked like a giant flying dog.

Very small dragons, being only 1'-5' long, any color, with large eyes, and large butterfly-type wings. These dragons are vegetarian as they only eat fruit, vegetables, nuts, and so on.

Faerie Dragons are tiny dragons, that seem to be a strange relative of pseudodragons. Faerie dragons live in wild jungles and forests where they play harmless tricks and practical jokes on people. Faerie dragons are kind and their jokes are never meant to harm anyone, but one who is a victim of such a joke can find their self humiliated more greatly than any other time in their life. The faerie dragons may often take great amounts of time just to prepare one joke, they also often enlist the help of pixies and sprites. The pixies and sprites are often found with faerie dragons because they have so many things in common, like their love of practical jokes. Everything about a faerie dragon has to do with care-free enjoyment of life, even a breath weapon they employ that makes one want to just wander around feeling happy.
