I've been on a little hiatus for a while so.. sweatdrop I kinda forgot I was apart of this guild. I already posted this in the main forum but now I realize it would've been better to put it in here.

Anyway, This is what I posted in the main forum:

My girlfriend and I both love to cosplay. I'm 6' something and My girlfriend is 5' tall. She loves going as tall characters and often beats herself up about being short (5" heels only make her 5" taller. How she could even walk in those, I am not sure.)

This year, she wants to go as Zabuza from Naruto (her fave. character.) I said I'll go as Haku so we could match. Then she kinda got upset at herself and said that she wouldn't match because she's way too short and I'll make her look shorter. She's a perfectionist and a workaholic. If only does cosplays if they'll turn out good. She's worried about her height and being critisized for being too chibi.

I don't think there is a problem. She has nice muscle tone but not overly bulky and better abs than half of the Zabuzas I've seen. As long as she's not standing near some sort of reference point, I don't think you'd be able to tell from far away or in pictures.

Any opinions? (And I've already suggested the Oiroke no Jutsu or something. She said she doesn't want her main costume to be something that's so simple it looks like you threw it together yesterday. Someone told her that about her Jill Valentine costume once and she never did it again.)

Well, it is a bit of a shame for any of us who don't look absolutely perfect body-wise for any cosplay. But its mostly about good construction and having fun.

I am 5'1" and I cosplay as Vash sometimes. No special tall shoes. People just say "Hey look, its Chibi Vash!" >.>;

I think as long as your actual costume is good it doesn't matter about your height.

If she's posing by herself I don't see anything wrong with cosplaying as someone tall however if she's going to pose next to other characters (like you as Haku) then that would look a little funny. But since cosplaying is all about having fun, there's no reason she or anyone else should get seriously bent out of shape.

it doesnt matter what your height is, as long as the costume is good.

Of course, if you're as tall as the character you're cosplaying, thats a really good thing!

Although, since Im kind of tiny myself (Im 5'5''), I dont mind cosplaying taller characters than myself. Although Im not too happy about the result. (Since Im a perfectionist.).
Or well, it comes up a lot... - If the outfit is perfect and if the person looks like the character and acts like the character, I usually dont even notice the height. :3 But.. Yah, I mind and dont mind at the same time.
I mostly only cosplay characters thats as tall as myself.

Depends on how well the outfit was made. I did Anthy awhile back and I'm 5'9 and she is about 5'4 in the series but no one didn't notice. Everyone was looking at how well the dress was made.

I don't think height matters much. It was amusing when my short friend went as Ed Elric and I went as Winry Rockbell, since the height comparisons were perfect. But, it's not /necessary/. I'm a good seven inches taller than Misa Amane, my most recent costume. Next year, for Colossalcon (summer Cleveland convention), I plan on going as another tiny character.

I think that aslong as your costume is perportioned with your body then it dosent matter much. If you do it right in a single person shoot you won't look any different from the character (unless they're like 8'ft tall and super skinny) As for you being taller: tell her don't worry! I'm almost 5'1" (and have been for the last couple years since i'm done growing) so I know how it is to be short in cosplay.

A few suggestions:
If she wants to pose together pind poses where maybe have you stand a little futher back from the camera, You're on your knees or crouched so youre closer to the ground (giving the allusion of her being taller than she is) or have her pose (when you're outside) ontop of a rock or tree.
