At last, the winter months were receeding oncea againa and, slowly, the warm temperatures of spring were making their appearance. Already the snow that had once lathered the ground in a thick, deep blanket across the ground was now scarce and traces of its presence could only be discovered by the sopping grass and puddles that seemed to spread vast across the pack lands. Withered trees were slowly regaining their boughs of leaves and the prestine fields of flowers still had yet to bloom. With spring approaching, it was also infamously known for the time where new life was blossoming.

As for Damu and Taima, they were a couple who were certainly contributing to the factor.

As a gentle, warm breeze drifted about and ruffled against the tapered fur of the white and black swirled male, Damu nestled against his mate and rumbled softly.

"Taima," he whispered, his emerald orbs flickering as he brushed his muzzle against her cheek and licked her tenderly, "do you think it's time we tell them, love? I mean, we can't hide it from them any longer and I think Leith's been gettin' a bit suspicious about what's going on. Knowing him, he'll be the one asking questions sooner or later," he chuckled, gently pawing at his mossy green and black hued mate with great affection.

With a yawn escaping from his great maw as it parted, the male stretched his forepaws forwards and thumped his tail upon the ground. Oh to be a father soon once again! It was such a strange thought that both he and his mate were soon to be parents of another proud litter but, still, the question remained whether or not it would be seen with as much excitement within the eyes of their older children.

"I think we need to tell them today," he commented, flopping onto his side and snuggling up against her.

Spring. A time of new life, new love. Taima and her mate weren't exactly missing out on anything. Her belly was bulging again, and she knew all too well now what that meant. She smiled softly to herself, watching her belly as she could feel the little lives growing inside of her. It was amazing, this feeling of being a mother. It was just all too surreal, and yet too wonderful and breath-taking for words. She couldn't describe it, so she didn't try. Rather, she enjoyed it.

Coming out of her thoughts as her mate leaned against her, the pregnant female smiled warmly at him and let her tail sway slightly. When he asked if they should tell their existing children about their new siblings, she froze slightly.

Telling her older children that they were getting new siblings wasn't the most thrilling of thoughts for the again to-be mother. She worried most about what they would say and how they would react to the news. She was most worried about Darius, since he seemed to be in such an off mood lately. He wouldn't tell her anything, but she could tell that he was upset over some female issues. Hearing his parents were all too successful in that department wouldn't cheer him up, she knew.

But the news had to be announced. Her belly wasn't getting any smaller from that moment on, and so she knew what they had to do. She simply wished they didn't have to do it. Or, if they did, then it would be easy. But that was asking for too much.

"Yes, I suppose we do," she whispered softly. She was still wishing for an alternative, but she knew that none existed.

"Where do you think the children have gone?" she asked. But as soon as she did, she wished she would have spoken something else. All of her first litter was no longer to be classified as 'children' as they were all far from it. Grown and capable of taking care of themselves, her children were so different. It pained her heart almost, but that pain was replaced by a sudden joy as she realized that she would have puppies to mother and to cherish once more. It would be perfect.

A warm, tender smile slid across his maw as the white and black swirled male chuckled softly and buried his muzzle within the depths of his lovers fur. Sighing as his nostrils intook her intoxicating yet seductive scent that always made his senses churn as well as his emotions, Damu glanced upwards into her eyes.

"We can't hide it for much longer," he whispered, trailing his muzzle upwards until his nose pressed against his mates. "And it's better than letting them suddenly walk in and see bundles of fur lying close to you." Planting a delicate kiss upon her maw, the male merrily thumped his tail upon the ground and furrowed his brows for a moment.

Where had they gone?

Good question.

As much as Damu could remember, Darius was probably off mulling about and sulking as his mood as of lately was something that was foreign and unusual- far, far different than his usual attitude and high spirits. Leith's heart had been taken captive by a wolfess but this was kept low key information as everyone knew it would not settle well with Darius whatsoever. Nasrin, Kaede and Rei were somewhere and, certainly, with the news of more additions to the family, they'd be sticking close by to help Taima in any way.

"Well," he began with a slightly gruff voice as he nestled closer to her, "there's only one way to know." Intaking a deep breath, Damu couldn't help but grin as he glanced towards the entrance.

"Dairus, Leith, Kaede, Rei, Nasrin!" He howled, hoping that his call would be heard and they would come promptly. What he was actually going to tell them could wait- or at least for now. Damu would much rather keep his kids in suspense rather than ruin a good surprise.

Taima smiled weakly at her mate. Despite being excited about the new puppies, she was equally afraid of what her current children would think of the whole thing. After all, not every child wanted to know exactly what their parents were doing, especially if it was in the subject of creating new life. She wondered vaguely and tried to imagine their reactions, but every time she did bad things crowded her mind, so she shook her head to clear it of the horrrible thoughts.

"That's true," she murmured in response. She glanced at her belly, which wasn't getting any smaller until after her new pups arrived. It was in fact already rounded out quite nicely, giving away the fact that she was indeed pregnant. She wondered why Darius or Leith or any of the other younger wolves hadn't mentioned anything. She smiled as she figured it must have been because they didn't want to misjudge and end up just calling her fat. It was understandable, and she silently thanked them all for that.

Laughing at the image that her mate had given her--the look on her childrens' faces as they walked in and saw tiny beings squirming around her belly--she slipped into a happy mood and nuzzled against him.

"That would be quite the surprise," she grinned, nipping at his ears playfully.

Then, as quickly as she had forgotten her worries, they came back to haunt her. Damu was calling the children and it was only a matter of time before she and her mate had to break the news to them. Again, she wondered what they would say and how they would feel, look, think...

Curled slightly at the back of the den, the to-be mother could only wait and hope as her children were called to hear the news.

Leith had been dozing only several feet away from the den when the distinct voice and bellowing howl of his father cut through the afternoon silence and seemed to echo all across the South Seaside packlands. His white ears flickered, perking upwards as he rolled onto his stomach and staggered to his paws.

"Wha-" He spat in a slight choke, stumbling forwards with a hasty trot. Two toned eyes narrowed towards the den as he could see the burly, brutish figure of his father while he could distinguish that his mother, Taima, was curled beside him as her posture was compassionate, warm and protected alongside Damu. His tail swayed behind him in a calm serene manner as he slowly padded towards the mouth of the cave. But where was Kaede, Rei and Darius?

A small whine escaped his maw as his ears fell slightly against his skull.

Leith knew perfectly well that they were all adults now but, still, he had hoped to see more of his family- well, of course, he had run off a bit more than usual as he and Marissa had their own news to tell them. A grand grin spreaded wide across his maw as even the mere thought of such news seemed to make his cheeks flush with pink.

To think he had a mate!

Trying to regain his composure and not wanting to give any hint away, Leith entered with a warm smile on his face. "Mom, Dad!" He wuffed, padding up towards Taima and nuzzling against her as he gave her an affectionate lick upon her cheek. Looking upwards towars the tapered white and black swirled male, Leith met the warm, tender gaze of his father and smiled.

"Dad."

Curled around his mate as he provided her warmth and endless comfort, the male looked upon his son and intook a deep breath. Even for the white and black swirled father, seeing his son and the rest of his kids all grown up tugged at his heartstrings and made him wish that just once, one day, he could relive their puppy days and mess around with them but- of course, he still roughhoused every chance he got.

But that would have to wait.

"It's good to see you, son," he spoke, a warm and affectionate tone along with his typical deep, mildly gruff tone.

At that instant, the white and gold swirled male suddenly scooted towards his father and nuzzled against him. Damu was a wolf whom Leith admired- not because he was his father, but because of what he stood for and for the strength of his character. Leith wanted to aspire to be just like him and to carry on his fathers small legacy; triumphing over his trials and finding his inner light and vanquishing his darkness. Rumbling and reaching upwars to n** at his dad's ears, Leith chuckled softly.

"You think you're so sneaky with your secrets," he playfully growled and he loosened his grip and scooted to the side of him to whisper within his ear. "But I have my own."

Kaede was currently being sat on and nipped at by Rei who was grinning at her work of the wiggling black and orange "sister" under her. "I told you I was better then you...stronger then you...you...pumpkin!" Kaede whined and wiggled, tried to get away, "I'm not a pumpkin, get offa me I think I heard dad!"

"You mean MY dad....seriously, you'll never learn will you, he's my dad, thats my mom, not YOURS." Rei huffed, flicked her tail and refused to get up. Kaede had to go, Rei was convinced on that she could somehow get rid of Kaede, make her go away, then everything would be so much better.

"DAAAAD!" Kaede yelled, making Rei flinch. Kaede hoped he wasn't too far, she wanted to get home, get away from Rei, this wasn't fun anymore, especially since they were adult-sized now, it hurt more.

"Shut up..." Rei said putting her forepaws on Kaede's nose to shut it for her, Kaede made a muffling noise and Rei grinned.

So there was a way to shut Kaede up...a fun way...

"Oh really," Damu inquired, cocking a brow as a devious grin played across his maw. "You and I need to have a good chat- or is this something that everyone needs to know?"

"Well perhaps I'll te-"

The sudden howling yell of Kaede caught his ears, perking them upwards as a slight frown curled upon his maw. Like always, Rei was tormenting her and poor Kaede was defenseless against her. The grey wolfess was a brute; ruthless and heartless and couldn't she, just once, leave her sister alone? Her theories of Kaede being adopted were ridiculous and Leith wouldn't care even if it was the truth; Kaede was very much apart of the family just as anyone else was and she deserved to be treated with just as much respect as anyone.

A slight growl escaped from Damu's maw as he rolled his eye. Rei certainly was a handful but her obession with tormenting Kaede was always quick to kindle his anger. "REI!" He snapped, fur bristling as his emerald orbs narrowed to where the grey female toppled the black and orange wolfess underneath.

"Get off Kaede and get over here!"

Snorting and releasing the sudden wash of anger, Damu sighed and shook his head. He never enjoyed getting angry or feeling the malice boil within his blood but it seemed that Rei was not only testing Kaede but also, sometimes, his patience. He slumped his shoulders as his black ringed tail thumped more calmly behind him. Maybe the news would at least settle the contention between the family for a while.

Leith smiled, holding the information as, for the moment, he was looking towards Kaede, and even Rei, with a warm smile. "It's been a while, hasn't it, Kaede, Rei? Good to see you two again."

Kaede grumbled, snorted and trudged off of Kaede, but not before giving her a quick kick to the side. Kaede whimpered and Rei smirked, Rei always got the upper paw sometimes, Kaede hated it, wished to be taken away from Rei for a while too. Kaede scurried after her father, who she loved so much, and saw Leith. He eyes went wide with happiness and she nearly tackled him to the ground.

"Leith! Where have you been its been way too long, what have you been up to?" her words just kept going, but it was obvious she was excited to see her brother again, even if she was older then he was, she felt like he was the same as her, even older sometimes. Sometimes it would be nice to have an older brother to pick on Rei, so Rei wouldn't pick on her, oh well.

"Leith...you've been away...why?" Rei's question and voice was cold, she hated family gatherings sometimes, but what could she do? She really couldn't say no and push her family away, she just wished to push Kaede away, thats all.

They both had the impression of something strange was up here.

Taima smiled as she noticed her children gathering up at their father's call, one by one. First Leith, then Rei and Kaede. Rei was picking on her sister as usual, but for once the mother didn't mind. There was great news to tell them, and she simply couldn't wait. Again, she wondered how each of them would react, but all of the imagining tired her out.

Whispering to her mate, she spoke: "I'm resting, Damu.. wake me when the last two get here?" Nasrin and Darius. Yes, where were they? She thought briefly about them, but then her head was resting on the ground, and she was lost into a world of dreams.

Elsewhere, there was a very kranky wolf grumbling and rising to his paws. The call had come a little while ago, but he had procrastinated as long as possible. His father was calling together a family meeting, for what he had no idea. But he didn't want to be a part of it. He wanted to be by himself, or with Hallie. He was upset with his family right now.

But he had to go. Deep down, he really did love his family. It was just his emotions clouding his better judgement. Confused and angry about it, the male rose to his paws and shook out his fur. He looked towards the den, wondering if he could skip out on this. But then he thought of his mother, and how disappointed she would be in him if he didn't show up.

Groaning, he slowly began the trek towards the family den. Along the way, he thought angry and upsetting thoughts, but there was something underneath that pushed him forward, all the way until he was standing in front of the den site, looking at the gathering members.

His father, Damu, his two sisters, Kaede and Rei, and...

Leith. His brother. He snorted disgust and skirted around the mostly white male, nuzzling his father briefly before settling in an isolated corner of the clearing.

There, he had showed up.

Nasrin paused as the heard howl from her father. Mm...? What did he want to talk to them all at once for? It wasn't as if family meetings were too common. Not that she minded. She loved her family, so turning her day around a bit to go see them wasn't a big deal, right? She rolled her shoulder in a shrug and turned to lope off in the direction of the call, her steps light and feminine.

After quite a while of walking she finally emerged in the area filled with her kin. She smiled sweetly, her girlish disposition obvious in her expression and stature. "Hello mama! Papa!" she whined affectionately, smoothing over to give her father a nuzzle. "And Leith, Kaede, Rei, and Damu!" she swished her tail, letting her eyes close briefly to match her joyful expression before turning her head again back to her parents.

Rolling his eyes as Rei always was the one to torment her older sister, Kaede, Leith sighed softly as he glanced back towards his father, Damu. Before he could utter a word, the white and gold swirled wolf found himself to suddenly become pinned towards the ground. With his maw ajar and eyes blinking as he glanced upwards, a grin spread from ear to ear as he looked up towards Kade.

His tail thumped upon the ground as he pawed up at her face, chuckling softly. "Slow down, slow down-" He smirked, ears perking upwards as he staggered up towards the ground. Shaking his fur off and taking a deep breath, he glanced over towards Rei with the same widespread grin plastered upon his maw. "Where I've been? Well-"

His speech stalled; two toned eyes soley focused upon the mossy and black hued wolf, watching as he made his appearance within the den and-

Avoided him.

Leith bit his lower lip, ears flattening against his head as his eyes fell towards the dirt floor. There was still a wedge between them and there was no way in which Leith could ever get near his brother and try to sort things out- no, Darius needed time away from him as both brothers were sorting out things that were to come and still figuring out what they wanted.

As for Leith, he had found what he wanted. But was he ready to tell his family?

With the presence of his other son, Darius, Damu rumbled a warm greeting as his oldest son nuzzled against him and isolated himself from the family. Damu furrowed his brows as a somber frown slid across his lips. He hated to see Darius so upset, distraught and torn with the unseen wounds that plauged his attitude and personality with malice, bitterness and a forlorn sense. But Damu knew that there was nothing he could do- time would heal the wounds and it would require effort from his son to make the change and to sort out his own ordeals.

It was the same stratagey that Damu used.

He could only hope it would work for Darius or that his son would mend his prombles in whatever manner that would help heal him from his despair.

"It's good to see you, Darius," he remarked, a warm tone of tenderness audible within his words.

Leith's head rose up to match both Rei's and Kaede's stare, smiling sheepishly. "Alright- so I'll tell you. I fou-" Interrupted again. But he didn't mind, not one bit. Perking his ears upwards as he grinned, the white and gold swirled male chuckled as he looked as Nasrin made her entrance. "Nasrin!" He exclaimed with a thrilled yip, tail wagging behind him as he padded towards her and nuzzled against her.

The white and black swirled male laughed, feeling his daughters gentle nuzzle against his fur as he rumbled soothingly and lovingly. "Nasrin," he spoke as he gave her a tender lick on her cheek, "glad to have you home again- all of you."

Looking towards his mate who rested beside him, Damu lovingly planted several kisses upon her maw and nuzzled against her. "Taima, they're here- Leith, Kaede, Rei, Darius and Nasrin are all here."

Though Darius seemed to have paid no attention to his brother at all, he really had noticed the sad feeling overcome his swirled brother when he had simply walked right on by without any noticeable acknowledgement. He grunted to himself, but remained isolated and still, away from the mainstream of the family.

He loved his family, yes, but his moods had become so delicate that even a slight wrong move could set him off. In that sense he was thinking more of the family than himself when he kept apart from them, but outwardly it seemed as if he was snobbishly avoiding them. The male shrugged. Each to his own. What did it matter to him if they thought the wrong things? So long as he knew the truth of it all, that was all that mattered.

Or so he thought.

Piercing eyes watched as Nasrin arrived, then soon afterwards Damu moved to wake their mother and told her that all of her children were there.

Taima had been merely dozing, laying half-awake with her eyes closed. Thus, when her mate nudged her and told her that all of the kids were there, she immediately arose from her drowsy state and lifted her head. "My babies--" she murmured, rising quickly to her paws and moving out to greet them.

"My babies!!" she cried, throwing herself first at Leith, then at Rei and Kaede and Nasrin and finally...

"Darius."

The male lifted his head and part of his expression softened as he gazed upon his mother. She was a little heavier than he remembered, and he sent a questioning glance to his father. He wasn't stupid. But he remained quiet and simply rose to his paws to respectfully greet his mother. A slight wag came to his tail as he whined to her and nuzzled and licked her face like a small, cowering pup. No matter what, he would always love her.

Tai knew, and smiled at him. "Things will get better," she whispered into his ear, only for him to hear. Then she pulled away, and went to stand beside her mate in front of all of her kids.

Nasrin, Rei, Kaede, Leith, and Darius. Her children. Soon there would be more. Turning to look at Damu, she smiled and folded her ears nervously. "What now?" she asked, not wanting to give anything away by asking specifically. Damu should have known what she meant.

Leith's ears folded back as a whine rose from his throat, nuzzling against his mother and licking at her face. Taima was compassionate and always held too much love within her heart and this was a trait that Leith sought- to have that same love as his mother and the strength of his father, the strength and protection that his father carried effortlessly.

Watching as Taima greeted and welcomed each of his siblings back, he couldn't help but smile.

The tapered white and black swirled male kept a grin upon his maw as his mate sat beside him. As she questioned on what was next, the male sheepishly smiled as his tail thumped behind him. Emerald orbs met the eyes of Leith, Rei, Kaede, Nasrin and Darius and, with a deep breath exhaling from his chest, Damu bit his lower lip in a rather excited manner, the anticipation and thrill sweeping through his veins.

"Your mother and I have something to tell you," he began, glancing aside towards his mossy and black hued lover as his ears folded against his head.

At this point, he could only hope and play out the reactions as something that would be pleasent, joyous and rather exciting. Perhaps a bit of a shock but the announcement of new lives being born into their family stirring a celebration and maybe causing the already young adults to stay a bit more at home and help out.

Yes! Oh please! It was certain Damu would need all the help he could get with Taima having to nurse the new pups and having to kept her well fed. That was a task that kept the male constantly on his feet and, sometimes, sacrificing his own meals for the sake of his mate and the pups.

Hopefully this announcement would work in his favor of recruiting help.

"Perhaps it would be better if you tell them, Taima," he turned, whispering into her ear as it was her surprise and news to tell the family.

Taima shivered beside her mate as he started up the beginning of their tellings. Soon their current litter would know that they were to have siblings due not too long into the future, and she felt that she would burst with all of the excitement and suspense. But again, as she sat there waiting, she wondered what all of their responses would be. Although, out of all of her children, she feared Darius' reaction the most.

Attempting to keep a straight face so as not to give anything away, the pregnant female shifted slightly to be more comfortable. Yet then her mate told her that perhaps she should tell the kids, and she nearly stumbled over.

"Oh... right, well," she coughed, smiling weakly. How should she do it? Should she stretch it out so that they were left guessing before they actually found out? Or should she simply tell it straight out?

"Well, your father and I... you see..." She tried to find the right words, but it seemed that they just weren't coming to her. Finally, she just felt it was best to simply let it out.

"We're expecting!" she exclaimed, nearly leaping to her paws. Her tail wagged gently behind her as her eyes glowed with great pride and delight. Now, she only had to wait for her children to react.
