Okay, this one is kind of complicated, and I'm reticent to do this at all, but this is a thread dedicated to recommending anime and providing links. HOWEVER there shall be no links of any kind to any licensed anime shown here. If you don't know what this means, let me give you a few brief hints; if you have ever seen it on any TV outside of Japan, odds are it's licensed. This means that a company owns it and showing it or watching it anywhere on-line is highly illegal and (a word I rarely use) immoral. It hurts the entire industry. No true fan watches fan-subbed licensed anime. If you have these links do NOT post them here.
That said, if you know of great series that ARE NOT licensed and are on-line, somewhere, feel free to post them here. If you have doubts, ask Sara. She will surely know.
All anime, licensed, or unlicensed can be reviewed here. Give us your opinion on what we should go out of our way to find and what we should go to great lengths to avoid. Above all, please NO SPOILERS!

I'll have to remember to have a look at it, later on. Hope it isn't licensed.

I really enjoyed Yakitate Japan. Funny and gripping. What I'm in the process of downloading... Aishiteruze Baby - very cute Bartender - slow paced, but a comfortable series to watch Densha Otoko - live action series, romance and nerds. Hayate no Gotoku (Hayate the Combat Butler) - Funny! Hataraki Man - adventures of news reporters, and the unique people in the newsroom Lucky Star - based on popular comic strip, cute Manabi Straight - cute, energetic school comedy Maria-sama ga Miteru - bishoujo series with hints of schoolgirl lesbianisn (don't worry, it's PG) Nodame Cantabile - eccentric people at a music school Romeo x Juliet - anime take on Shakespeare's classic The Snow Queen - based on the classic Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale edited on August 2 to remove licensed series

Funny, dramatic, romantic, etc. Nodame Cantabile - eccentric people at a music school Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru - wholesome crossdresssing Romeo x Juliet - anime take on Shakespeare's classic The Snow Queen - based on the classic Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale Densha Otoko was great. I also liked the first episode of Hayate. I look forward to watching a few others at Anime Club next semester.

Well, I suppose if one were deaf, one would read anime. Grasping at straws, perhaps you could argue that one reads the subtitles if he is watching the Japanese version. But, I think you meant to ask, does anyone read -manga-?

Thanks for posting this, everyone.
I don't know of any myself. Otherwise I would have added to this topic, as well.
Can't wait to check these out. >w<

If the anime referred to is the one that was almost entirely rescripted by the US, I would avoid it. Even if the original version was completely unoriginal, it should still have been translated faithfully.
