He called it his lair, though it was little more than a lushly furnished cave several miles out of town. In fact, it was the one Rhys had been inhabiting a few months earlier. He was dead now, of course, but many of the books in the space were his. Xaldin himself paced in the entrance way, caught between annoyance and glee.
Phase one of his plan had gone well; he was in a new body, one that was unrecognizable as his. He was much burlier this time around, with a bushy beard the same black as his close-cropped hair; at his side was a sword. Even his eyes were a different color, a flinty gray now. Phase two had gone off better than he'd hoped, and the meddling dragon-man was now down for the count for the time being. Now he just had to snatch the girl... she needed to come with him, to fulfill her purpose. The question, of course, was how to get her.

It had taken a while for Tynan, or rather his associates, to pinpoint the location of Xaldin's new base of operations. Still it wasn't nearly as difficult as he had expected.
That the base was close enough for a single jump through the shadows was good, but he still commisioned a mage to transport him there. "Lord Xaldin!" he called out as he approached the cave, readying himself for anything.

Rather half-heartedly, then mage shot a warning bolt of lighting out of the cave; it landed only inches from Tynan's feet. "Who approaches? Make it quick, for I have work to do." he snarled, annoyed at being interrupted; he'd almost had a plan... almost...

Tynan frowned slightly at the lightnign bolt. They were hard to predict most of the time. "My name is Tynan," he said, stopping just far enough away so he didn't have to yell to be heard clearly. "I have come with a proposition that I believe you will find interesting."

Xaldin stepped out of the cave, leaning on one craggy side of the opening. "Tynan, is it?" he asked with a sneer, obviously unimpressed with the man before him. "Very well... proceed. If I do find it interesting, I won't summon a demon to eat you. Fair?"

Tynan acted as if the threat didn't come out of Xaldin's mouth. "As far as I can tell, you and I have similair objectives. We both desire a resident of the nearby inn, The Demented Muffin. However, so far we have both been thwarted in every attempt to get what we want. I propose that we try working together to better our chances."

Xaldin narrowed his eyes, thinking as he fingered the hilt of his sword. He'd failed last time because he'd been too hasty, too sure of himself and his abilities. After several moments, he inclined his head, some of the aggressiveness leaving his posture. "An alliance may be to our advantage." he agreed. "Which one are you after, so I know you will not touch my experiment?"

"The young boy named Arlen," Tynan said, not yet walking closer. "Also the catgirl Ukaia," he added after a moment.

The neko's name caused him to gnash his teeth; in his mind, she was the source of everything that had gone wrong. "Ukaia... she is a troublemaker. Corrupted my best servant. It is her fault that I am stuck here... I'd hoped to kill her, but very well." He nodded, then grinned, revealing all of his teeth. "Won't you come in?"

"I would be glad to," Tynan said walking forward to the cave, but waiting for Xaldin to enter first. "Shall we share what we have to offer now or wait until more formalities have been fulfilled?"

Xaldin's eyes gleamed, acknowledging the wait. He entered first, though his hand stayed on his hilt, just in case of a surprise attack while his back was turned. "Formalities are very important, my boy. For one, I would like to know who you work for. You smell like a puppet."
When the two reached the main cavern, Xaldin indicated that Tynan should seat himself on one of the rather lush couches, then took a chair for himself.

"I wouldn't say puppet," Tynan said, sitting where indicated. "But I do work for someone who wishes to remain anomynous for the most part."

Xaldin snorted, but didn't press the point; though he would die before admitting it, he was at an impasse. He needed assistance that he couldn't get, due to Vincent clearing out his castle. "Very well. Now..." he steepled his fingers, holding them to his chin. "You wish for the cat-girl and Lily's boy-toy. I wish only for Lily to come out of this as unscathed as possible. She is critical to my plans. If she is harmed, our agreement will be terminated, and I will kill you."

"I understand completely," Tynan said, mentally planning for the unlikely scenario where Lily would be injured, but showing no signs of it. "My employer desires Arlen and Ukaia in similair condition."

Xaldin looked rather amused for a moment, leaning back in his chair. "Are you sure your employer is the one who desires the neko?" he asked, arching a brow. "She was rather delectable, if I recall correctly... and oh, was she a screamer..." he took a moment to revel in the memories of her whipping, then cleared his throat. "Neither will be harmed. We are in agreement then."
