Alec sat quietly in his duplex, with only the slow drip of water breaking the strong blanket of silence that seemed to envelope the overly-spacious rooms. Amaya was nowhere to be found, though somehow he expected to see her missing even after the men carted the young boy back to his housing. He hadn't seen her since he awoke from that disturbingly long sleep the entire island apparently had undergone. Her things had still not been moved to their new home. She was still missing. He was alone.

Of course he'd thought about her a lot, even while lying half-conscious in the infirmary room where'd he'd spent the last week or so recuperating. She was just busy, back in her duplex, making herself useful, maybe visiting friends. Yea. Visiting. She wouldn't leave him here, alone.

Alone. A sigh escaped his gill-lined throat that although small, seemed deafening in the silence. The dripping was driving him mad. Or was it the fear? He'd felt it, the fear, ever since he opened his eyes after the attack. So weak; fathomless vulnerability. Was Jordan alive? He hadn't gotten a straight answer from the nurses. He'd been so thirsty and sick to his stomach, he could barely speak coherently at the time. It hadn't gotten much better with time, the boisterous youth becoming a numbed, mute being even as the guards transported him fully conscious back to his duplex.

His face was a mass of butterfly tape and patches of bandage, some swollen and some areas merely colourfully bruised and tender. His stomach was incredibly painful, wrapped entirely in snug, pristine white bandaging. The painkillers helped. He idly wondered if he could swim like this, wrapped like a mummy, seeing as he was having the strongest urge to dive into the water and out into the lake. Maybe he should stop staring at the rippling water in the pool or the empty, pale walls at all sides. He should go out. The air was stale inside there despite cleanliness (if he could wear more clothes, it would probably be messier already) he could still smell the recycled air, it made him nauseous. Unfortunately the thought of going outside made him feel more ill. The tigerman was out there. Waiting. He'd proved that by the sudden unprovoked and mercilessly savage attack in the jungle.

Did anyone even know what happened out there?

Maybe he should warn others. They'd believe him for sure after taking one look at him. If he could, he'd swear to stay in the water forever. He felt safe there. His stomach announced loudly why this plan would most likely fail. He was starving, and not for fish, he wanted real food. He also needed to get out of that place. The empty, lonely place.

[New RP (Dated back a while)]

A few days after the scare with the winded clocks, Amaya and Alec had met up again and eventually moved in together. Her things were transported into the shark boy's new aquatic duplex but... most of them remained packed in the boxes that had been supplied to her. All that had been removed were her clothes and toiletries. Even the picture of her family had been kept inside it's cold, cardboard prison.

Two weeks had gone by since they moved in with each other. Two weeks of awkward silences and small chatter. Amaya was like a shell. Her voice was dead and monotone, and she rarely left the duplex.

She was getting skinnier and her scales were loosing the green shine they would have if she were completely healthy. She never really dove into her feelings with Alec anymore, stayed quiet and answered his questions, kept up the same fake smile that would vanish the second his back was turned... didn't cry until he left the duplex for a swim or to get something to eat.

Amaya sat on her bed wearing her t-shirt with Donner flopped by her side. She didn't pet him though, sat dead and staring outside at the window nearly. It was a bright and sunny day, but the look on her reptilian features could send anyone away with a shiver down her spine. The life in her eyes was gone, and so was the pendent she normally always wore around her neck.

It sat on the dresser, tossed there like an unwanted reminder of her past. It held pictures of the little girl she now hated, the life she didn't want to remember. If she didn't remember, she couldn't long for it, right?

Her inhuman eyes just continued to stare out the window. She said nothing, didn't move, and barely breathed.

She was numb.

The soft ripple of water ran across the surface of the indoor pool, sloshing lazily up against the boundary between nature and man-made domain. The water gave the room an interesting hue, at least to Alec. The shimmering reflections across the walls amused him, even so much as pleased him in a calming manner. To him, his new duplex was more than he could ask for. The convenience of a junction from duplex to lake with more than enough room for Amaya's terrestrial needs. There were even some plants set up, how clever. It was like an indoor haven.

Unfortunately the haven's appeal was lost the second Amaya would leave. Not even the warm water could comfort his feelings of painful, stabbing loneliness. He might as well be in a cement prison if no one was there to share their company.

The appeal was in the company, it seemed. Being able to keep a special person close by despite the drastic differences in needs and way of life; this was what kept a smile on the young boy's shark-like face. He urged Amaya to stay with him as long as he could manage, in fact. His disabilities meant that travelling long distances in a wheelchair was cumbersome and tiring, making it much easier to lounge at home or go for a nice swim in the midday sun. Little ddid he notice how often he was winning his fights for her to stay put, keep him company. The fights weren't occurring often anymore, if not at all.

Naturally, he didn't mind.

A small wave crested against the poolside barrier indicating the arrival of an aquatic traveller, the sharkboy's fin peircing the water's surface before his head peeked out from the depths.

"Ay!" He chirped, forcing air through his gills until the remaining water poured from the openings to clear the airways for proper speech. She was sitting right where he'd left her.

At first it was almost as if she didn't hear him, staring blankly ahead like a statue. But then she blinked and turned her head to look at Alec. A mask of a smile formed on her features, head cocked slightly so she could see him best. "Back already?" Although he could have been gone for hours and she probably wouldn't have noticed the difference in time.

She loved Alec still, despite how cold or emotionless she seemed. He was the only one to even make her smile these days, even if the smile was a fake one. At least it was something.

But after he attempts of confessing her feelings and having it fall on dead ears... Amaya had given up. He would never love her. They were too different. She was took much of a freak. She wasn't even a human anymore. No normal girl laid eggs.

"Aw-ye, a' joost wen' fo' a go 'round th'lake once o' twice.... y'neh." He shrugged as he hoisted his top half out of the water, resting his chin on his crossed arms. His voice trailed off into the air, echoing somewhat as a room with a pool normally does for some reason.

He'd be the first to admit that he wasn't the brightest lamp in the shed but he wasn't stupid - or blind. The youngster could see the changes in his friend's features, her behavior, the very look in her eye. Life was draining from her or at least the will to live it to its fullest. Not only did this disturb him but it struck a cord deep down that he wasn't willing to tend to just yet. If he could only go on with a smile just alike her own. If they could both pretend so hard, then maybe it'd become real.

"Wanneh come?"

"The water might be too cold for me." She answered almost roboticly and turned back to stare out the window. The water was probably perfect for her, actually. It was summer time after all. But she didn't have enough energy to go for a swim... and her heart just wasn't in it.

The smile was gone again and she turned into a statue, unmoving and without emotion. She couldn't help but think negative about everything. The water was too cold so she couldn't swim. Her taste buds were different, so she couldn't eat that. The weather was too cool for her to go outside, so she stayed inside. Just small things that she would pick out to keep her from doing things that most people would relish.

After all, she was a iguana now. Not a person. An iguana.

Glimmer of hope now lost, he settled by the edge of the pool and stared. Her posture was horrible, her skin was loose and lacked the brilliant emeralds and deep forest greens he always remembered seeing. For a long while he stared in silence, mulling over how Amaya looked. Or rather, how little Amaya even resembled herself anymore. She didn't play with Donner. They didn't watch movies and laugh at the bad acting or teh poor choice of plotlines. They didn't go for walks. She didn't want to eat. If he didn't know any better he'd think she was sick, or -God forgive him for thinking it- even dying. The reason was clear and unclear at the same time, beyond his comprehension. She didn't want to talk, so he couldn't know.

"Ye probableh righ'." The grey creature seemed to humor her, indecision whether that was the right course of action or not was long lost. Firmly planting his webbed hands onto the deck, he hoisted himself easily out of the water and into a sitting position by the edge of the water. His arms were wonderfully strong now for the amount of times he had to hold his own weight day in and day out.

A short glance towards the dog that lay sedatary at her side, looking just as dead and displeased as the owner. The iguana girl was wasting away but the dog was still well fed, an idle thought crossed his mind. "Le's go take Donneh fo' a walk." A small voice in his mind suggested that maybe if he sounded a bit like authority, then maybe she'd listen, snap out of it, react to something.

Like before, it took a few seconds longer than what was considered normal before she turned and looked down at Donner. At the mention of a walk, even from the whelp whom he loved to bark and n** at made him raise his head and wag his tail. With expectant eyes he looked up at his master.

She thought on this for a moment, but finally made her decision. "Okay." Amaya would always comply obediently when it meant caring for someone else. The dog was well fed, let out to roam or walked daily, and Alec was given enough attention and care that was deemed necessary for his outward happiness. Of course, she didn't know what he really wanted aside from to stay with her for fear of being alone.

Her legs wiggled out from under her before her long toes touched the carpet and she stood. The iguana's body looked frail and malnourished, but not enough to be too unhealthy. She just looked a little overly skinny and her scales were a dull green from the lack of real sunlight and action.

At the movement Donner leapt from the bed and ran for his ball with over exaggerated enthusiasm. The tennis ball was grabbed into his mouth and he ran back over to Amaya, nudging her hand so she would take it. But even though her fingers curled around the ball it slipped through her fingers and bounced on the floor, like she didn't even try to hold it.

The Australian Shepard wasn't phased and bent his head back down to try it again.
